Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United States

Paying a relative's US visa fee in Nigeria from the US

The US visitor visa fee is $185. How to pay it for a relative in Nigeria by card or in naira, and why it must sit under their own profile.

The short answer

The visa application (MRV) fee for a B visitor, F student or J exchange visa is $185 per the State Department's fee page and a July 2026 guide to the US Mission in Nigeria's process. It is paid under the applicant's own profile on the US visa appointment portal: by card in dollars, which posts at once, or in naira at First Bank using the portal's deposit slip, which expires after three days. From the US, either pay by card on the relative's profile or send them naira to pay at the bank.

The fee, by visa type

VisaFeeSource

Petition-based (H, L, O, P, Q, R)$190Legit.ng, 27 July 2026
E treaty trader or investor$205Legit.ng, 27 July 2026
K fiancé(e)$265Legit.ng, 27 July 2026

Students and exchange visitors also pay a separate SEVIS fee, which the same guide puts at $350 for F and M and $220 for J. The State Department sets the fees; check its page and the portal on the day you pay, since fees and add-ons can change. Immigrant visas for family are a different process with different fees; see our guide to sponsoring parents for a green card.

How payment works in Nigeria

The fee is paid through the US visa appointment portal under the applicant's profile, and the payment is tied to that applicant. Legit.ng's July 2026 guide describes two routes:

  • Dollar route: pay by card on the portal; the payment is recognised immediately.
  • Naira route: print the deposit slip from the portal, with its transaction reference number, and pay at First Bank by cash deposit or e-transfer. The slip expires after three days, and the payment takes about one business day to process. The naira amount appears on the portal once a profile is created.
  • K visas: paid at GTBank, per the guide.

GTBank's own US visa fees page still lists naira amounts effective 18 July 2024, such as ₦284,900 for B, F and J visas, and says fees are set by the US Department of State. Treat those as historical: the current naira figure is the one the portal shows.

Paying from the US: the two practical routes

  1. Pay by card on the relative's profile. Ask your relative to create their profile and fill in their own details, then pay the dollar fee with your card when you reach the payment page. Check the portal accepts your card at that point; if it declines, use the naira route.
  2. Send naira for the bank route. Your relative prints the deposit slip, you send the naira amount shown, and they pay at First Bank within the three days the slip is valid. Ask for a photo of the bank's receipt, and check the portal shows the payment after a business day.

Either way, the payment must be made against the applicant's own profile and reference. A receipt under your name or a different applicant cannot be moved, because the fee is non-transferable.

What to keep afterwards

Ask your relative to save three things: the portal login, the payment receipt or confirmation with its reference, and the appointment confirmation once booked. If the interview is rescheduled, the same paid fee is used within its 365 days, so losing the receipt or the login is the main way families end up paying twice. If several relatives are applying, each needs their own profile and their own fee; one payment cannot cover two applicants.

Avoiding the common mistakes

  • Paying through an agent who keeps the receipt. Your relative should hold the login and the receipt.
  • Paying for the wrong visa class. A student paying the visitor fee, or the reverse, loses the fee.
  • Letting the deposit slip expire before paying, which means generating a new one.
  • Paying long before the relative is ready. The fee lapses after 365 days.

A worked example

Example only. Grace in Maryland is paying for her mother in Enugu to apply for a B2 visitor visa. Her mother creates her own profile, Grace pays $185 by card when the portal reaches the payment page, and the interview booking opens straight away. If Grace's card had been declined, she would have sent the naira figure shown on the portal for her mother to pay at First Bank within three days. Our guides to what an invitation letter should say and the money side of a parent's visit cover the next steps, and the Nigeria library explains whether a bank statement is needed at the interview.

Where Pryme fits

If you use the naira route, you can send naira to your relative's account in Nigeria with Send the same day they print the slip; the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve. This is information, not immigration advice.

Questions people ask

How much is the US visa fee in Nigeria in 2026?

$185 for B visitor, F student and J exchange visas, per the State Department and a July 2026 guide. The naira equivalent is shown on the visa portal once a profile is created.

Can I pay my mum's US visa fee from America?

Yes. Pay the dollar fee by card on her own portal profile, or send her naira to pay at First Bank with the portal's deposit slip within three days.

How long is the US visa fee receipt valid?

365 days from the date of purchase, according to the visa portal. It is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Which bank collects US visa fees in Nigeria?

First Bank for the naira route, per the July 2026 guide; GTBank for K visas. GTBank's own page lists 2024 naira amounts that may be out of date.
