Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Spain

Verifying a Lagos C of O while living in Spain

How a Lagos C of O is checked at the Lands Registry, what the official search fee is, what the result tells you, and how to run it from Spain.

The short answer

You verify a Lagos Certificate of Occupancy by having a Lagos lawyer conduct an official search of the title at the Lands Registry and chart the survey plan. The Lands Bureau fee schedule lists a search fee of ₦3,750; from Spain you send the lawyer a copy of the C of O and written authority, and pay nothing to the seller until the report is in.

A photocopy of a C of O sent over WhatsApp proves only that someone has a photocopy. The question you need answered is whether the state's own records show the same grant, to the same person, over the same land, with nothing registered against it since. That answer lives in the Lagos Lands Registry, and getting it from Spain is a matter of instructing the right person with the right papers.

What a search confirms, and what it does not

CheckWhat it tells youWho does it
Title search at the Lands RegistryWhether the C of O exists in the records, its holder, and registered transactions on it such as assignments or mortgagesYour lawyer
Charting of the survey planWhere the plot sits on the state's maps and whether it falls inside government acquisition or a road or drainage setbackYour lawyer or a registered surveyor
Site visitWhether the beacons match the plan and who is in possessionSurveyor or the lawyer's clerk
Court and probate checksWhether the land is in litigation, or the holder has died and the estate is not yet administeredYour lawyer

Ownkey's June 2026 due diligence guide puts the Land Registry search first, before any payment beyond a nominal booking fee, and adds a High Court litigation search and a probate check where the title is in a deceased person's name. A clean registry search does not tell you whether a family member is already farming the plot. Only someone standing on it can.

The official fee and the time it takes

The Lagos Lands Bureau's service level agreement (undated) lists the fee code for a search at ₦3,750 and gives office hours of 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, for physical and virtual service. The same document gives a general resolution window of 24 hours to five working days but does not set a specific turnaround for searches. A September 2024 Mondaq article by The Trusted Advisors put a Lagos search at about ₦15,000 to ₦20,000 and five to fourteen days. That figure is a law firm's estimate that may include the firm's handling costs, not an official charge. Expect your lawyer's fee on top, and ask for it in writing.

Online searches through Lagos e-GIS

In January 2024 Lagos launched an e-GIS land administration portal. TheCable reported that it lets users search and verify land records, apply for C of O and Governor's consent, pay and track applications online. Neither that report nor the Lands Bureau homepage gives a URL or a fee for online searches from abroad, so treat it as a tool your lawyer may use rather than a shortcut for you. If someone sends you a link claiming to be the portal, check it with your lawyer before entering any details.

Running the search from Spain

  1. Choose a Lagos lawyer you have checked yourself, not one introduced by the seller.
  2. Send a clear scan of the C of O (all pages), the survey plan and the seller's ID.
  3. Give written instructions naming the plot and authorising the search. Ask the lawyer which form of authority the registry needs; we could not find an official page that says who may apply.
  4. Ask for the search report itself, not a summary, plus the charting result.
  5. Pay the search and professional fees into the chambers' client account.

Reading the result

  • Name mismatch. If the registered holder is not the seller, the seller needs a registered chain of title (a consented deed from the holder to them) or a court grant if the holder has died.
  • Encumbrances. A registered mortgage means the bank must release it before you buy.
  • Acquisition. If charting shows government acquisition, stop unless your lawyer can show a gazetted excision covering the plot.
  • No record. A C of O the registry cannot find is a reason to walk away.

Courts weigh documents together. A Mondaq note from October 2025 cites cases holding that neither a title document nor possession alone is conclusive, while a duly executed, stamped and registered document raises a presumption in your favour. That is why the search is the start of the process, not the end. The full purchase sequence is in buying land in Lagos from Spain, and for the Lekki corridor see Ibeju-Lekki checks.

One practical point for buyers abroad: a search reflects the record on the day it is run. If weeks pass between the search and payment, ask your lawyer to update it before money moves.

Where Pryme fits

Search and legal fees are small naira payments that are easy to make from Spain. A Pryme account holds EUR and NGN, and Send pays the chambers' client account once you have confirmed the details by phone. Ask for a verifiable receipt or statement from VerifyDoc.ai for your own file.

Questions people ask

How do I check if a C of O is genuine in Lagos?

Instruct a Lagos lawyer to search the title at the Lands Registry and chart the survey plan. The search shows whether the C of O is on record and who holds it.

How much is a land search in Lagos?

The Lands Bureau fee schedule lists the search fee at ₦3,750. Lawyers charge a professional fee on top, so ask for an itemised quote.

Can I search a Lagos C of O online from Spain?

Lagos launched an e-GIS portal in 2024 with online search, but no official page we found gives a URL or fee for use from abroad. Work through your lawyer.

What if the seller's name is not on the C of O?

The seller must show a registered, consented chain of title from the holder, or letters of administration if the holder has died. Without that, do not pay.
