Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Buying land in Ibeju-Lekki from Spain: checks before paying

Ibeju-Lekki land is often under government acquisition. The survey, charting and excision checks a Spain-based buyer needs before sending money.

The short answer

Before paying for land in Ibeju-Lekki, have a Lagos lawyer chart the survey plan at the Surveyor-General's office to see whether the plot is under government acquisition, and, if the seller relies on an excision, confirm it is published in the Lagos State Official Gazette and covers your plot. Only then move to the title search, deed and Governor's consent.

Ibeju-Lekki is marketed hard to Nigerians abroad, often by estate companies with offices, brochures and payment plans in euros or dollars. The specific risk in this corridor is not that the seller is lying about the price but that the land was never theirs to sell: much of it has been acquired by the state for public use, and only parts have been released back to communities.

Acquisition, excision and gazette in plain terms

Government acquisition
Land the state has taken for public purposes. Section 28 of the Land Use Act allows revocation for overriding public interest, with compensation under section 29 for unexhausted improvements.
Excision
A release of part of acquired land back to the original community or family, who can then grant or sell it.
Gazette
The official publication of the excision in the Lagos State Official Gazette, giving its extent. It is not itself a title like a C of O.

A Resolution Law Firm guide on Mondaq says most land in Lekki is under government acquisition and "may be released by way of excision", but that land under committed acquisition "may never be released at all". It calls charting at the Surveyor-General's office "very crucial in Lekki" because it reveals whether a plot has been acquired. Ownkey's June 2026 guide rates fraud risk in Ibeju-Lekki as very high, citing fabricated gazette entries and sales of un-excised land.

A recent example of how slow excision can be

Radio Nigeria Lagos reported in April 2026 that the Lagos Assembly adopted a report on Eputu, in Ibeju-Lekki. Six villages had received excision approval in 2014, but C of O and gazetting were delayed for want of a layout plan; 75 of 90 hectares were excised and 15 hectares were pending regularisation. The Assembly asked the Lands Bureau, the Surveyor-General and the New Towns Development Authority to act. The lesson: approval announced is not the same as gazetted, and gazetted is not the same as your plot being inside it.

Checks before you pay anything

  1. Get the survey plan for the exact plot, with the surveyor's name and registration.
  2. Charting. Your lawyer or an independent registered surveyor takes it to the Surveyor-General for charting. The result shows whether the plot is free, excised or under acquisition.
  3. Gazette check. If the seller relies on an excision, ask for the gazette number, year and page. Ownkey suggests confirming the issue at the Lagos State Official Gazette library in Alausa. Check that your plot falls within the excised area, not just the village name.
  4. Title search. Once charting is clean, search the title at the Lands Registry. See verifying a C of O from Spain.
  5. Family authority. For community or family land, confirm who has authority to sell. Lagos's Property Protection Law 2016 makes selling land without title, or family land without the family's consent, an offence.
  6. Site visit. Someone you trust confirms the beacons and that no one else is building.

Questions to put to an estate company

  • Is the land excised and gazetted, and what is the gazette reference?
  • Is there a global C of O for the estate, or will each buyer get a C of O or a consented deed?
  • Is the company registered with LASRERA? Its website has a "Search for Agents" tool.
  • Is any part of the scheme an investment product promising returns? If so, check that the promoter is on the SEC's list of registered capital market operators before paying.
  • What happens to my money if title does not come through?

Paying from Spain

Estate companies often ask for an initial deposit to "secure" a plot before documents are shared. Keep any deposit small and refundable in writing, and hold the bulk until charting and the title search are back. Pay the lawyer's client account or the company's corporate account only, never a personal account. Keep every receipt; if the property passes the reporting limit, it belongs on Modelo 720.

If the plot turns out to be under acquisition

Stop and do not pay further instalments. Ask the seller or estate company in writing for a refund under the deposit terms. Section 8 of the Property Protection Law, as summarised by LawPavilion, makes offering land for sale without title and selling without title offences in Lagos, and petitions to the task force need a sworn declaration. Your lawyer can advise whether to pursue a civil claim, a petition, or both. Buyers in Spain should keep the original receipts and messages; they are your evidence.

Where Pryme fits

Staged payments are easier when you can hold euros until each check clears. A Pryme account holds EUR and NGN with local details, Swap shows the rate and fee before you approve, and Send pays a verified account. For the wider purchase sequence, see buying land in Lagos from Spain.

Questions people ask

How do I know if land in Ibeju-Lekki is under government acquisition?

Have the survey plan charted at the Lagos Surveyor-General's office through your lawyer or a registered surveyor. The charting result shows acquisition.

Is excised land safe to buy?

Only if the excision is published in the Lagos State Official Gazette and your plot falls within the excised area. Approval alone, or a village name, is not enough.

Is a gazette the same as a C of O?

No. A gazette publishes the excision; the community uses it to seek title. Your own title still comes through a C of O or a consented deed.

Should I pay a deposit to hold a plot in Ibeju-Lekki?

Keep it small and get written terms for a refund if checks fail. Hold the main payment until charting and the title search are clean.
