Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Lekki land title check: Lagos Land Registry from the US

How to run a Lagos Land Registry search on Lekki land from the US through a lawyer: authority, what the search shows and what it misses.

The short answer

You run a Lekki title search from the US by instructing a Lagos lawyer, under a written authority or limited power of attorney, to apply at the Lagos Land Registry with the title details and survey plan. The search shows the registered owner and encumbrances such as mortgages or government acquisition, but only for registered land, so it is paired with Surveyor-General charting, a court search and a site visit before you pay.

Lekki land is marketed heavily to Nigerians abroad, often by video, often with urgency. The single most useful thing you can do from the US is make sure a registry search and a charting check are done by someone who works for you, not for the seller, before any money beyond a small booking fee moves.

What a Lagos Land Registry search tells you

Adeola Oyinlade & Co's 2024 guide describes the Lagos Land Registry search as showing the true registered owner and encumbrances, including government acquisition, mortgages and leases, and notes that only registered land can be verified this way. The Lagos State Lands Bureau lists an Acquisition and Excision Registry and a Mortgage Registry among its registries. Ownkey's June 2026 due-diligence guide puts the registry search first, before any payment beyond a nominal booking fee.

Registered owner
Whose name the title is in, and whether it matches the seller.
Encumbrances
Mortgages, leases, cautions or other interests on the land.
Acquisition status
Whether the land is under government acquisition, and whether any part is excised.
Title history
Earlier transfers and Governor's consent on record.

What it does not tell you

  • Whether the land on the ground is the land on the survey plan. That is the Surveyor-General charting check, which Adeola Oyinlade describes as checking coordinates, plan validity and acquisition.
  • Whether there is a court case over the land. Ownkey recommends a High Court litigation search.
  • Whether the seller is a deceased owner's heir with authority to sell. A Probate Registry check covers this.
  • Whether a family or community claims it, which is why a family enquiry and physical inspection are part of standard checks.
  • For land owned by a company, whether there is a charge, which a CAC search shows.

Running it from the US: steps

  1. Get the seller's documents as scans: C of O or other title, deed of assignment, survey plan, Governor's consent, receipts. Mondaq's 2024 guide lists these as the core documents.
  2. Instruct a Lagos lawyer you chose yourself. Check they are called to the Nigerian Bar and agree fees in writing.
  3. Give a written authority, or a limited power of attorney, for the searches only. A wide power to buy or sell is not needed at this stage.
  4. Ask for the registry search, Surveyor-General charting, High Court litigation search and, where relevant, Probate and CAC searches.
  5. Ask for copies of the search reports and official receipts, not a summary message.
  6. Have a surveyor or the lawyer visit the site and photograph beacons against the plan.
  7. Only then negotiate, and pay into an account in the registered owner's name or as your lawyer advises.

Choosing and briefing the lawyer

The lawyer is your eyes in Lagos, so independence matters more than convenience. Avoid a lawyer introduced by the seller or the estate developer. Brief them in writing with the plot's address, the seller's name, the documents you received and exactly which searches you want, and ask for a written report that answers yes or no on each point: registered owner matches seller, any acquisition, any encumbrance, any court case, plan charts correctly.

  • Agree a fixed fee for the search stage, separate from any later transaction fee.
  • Ask for scanned official search receipts so you know the searches were lodged.
  • Arrange video calls from the registry or the site if you want to see progress.
  • Keep all instructions by email so there is a record.

After the search: perfecting your title

Legal500's guide by Tope Adebayo LP sets out Lagos perfection: Governor's consent, stamping within 30 days of execution, and registration within 60 days. It says an unstamped instrument cannot be registered. The Lands Bureau advertises a 30-day Governor's consent. Budget for consent, stamp duty and registration fees, which your lawyer can quote from current schedules. Our sister guide on land title checks in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt covers documents in more depth, and buying land in Lagos from the US covers the wider process.

Worked example (illustrative)

A Lekki plot is advertised at ₦45,000,000 with a ₦500,000 booking fee. Paying ₦500,000 to hold the plot while searches run puts about 1.1% at risk. Paying 30% (₦13,500,000) before the registry search puts 27 times more at risk on unverified title.

Where Pryme fits

Keep a clean record of every payment. With Pryme you can send naira from an account opened in the US and generate a verifiable receipt or statement through our partner VerifyDoc.ai, which anyone can check is genuine and unaltered. See also using a power of attorney from the US.

Questions people ask

How do I verify Lekki land from America?

Instruct a Lagos lawyer under a written authority to run a Land Registry search, Surveyor-General charting, a court search and a site visit before you pay more than a booking fee.

How much is a land search in Lagos?

A 2024 Mondaq guide estimated about ₦15,000 to ₦20,000 and 5 to 14 days. Confirm the current fee with the registry or your lawyer.

Does the Lagos Land Registry search show government acquisition?

Yes for registered land, per Adeola Oyinlade's guide; the Surveyor-General's charting check also confirms acquisition and coordinates.

Do I need a power of attorney for a land search?

Not always. A lawyer can search on your instruction. A limited power of attorney helps if the registry or lawyer asks for formal authority.
