Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to close a Fidelity Bank account

Closing a Fidelity Bank account: the request letter, clearing the balance and any loan, handing back cards and cheques, and why closure costs nothing.

The short answer

To close a Fidelity Bank account, clear or transfer the balance, repay any loan or overdraft, cancel standing orders and direct debits, then submit a signed closure request with valid ID at a branch or by email to trueserve@fidelitybank.ng, returning your cards and unused cheques. The CBN's Guide to Charges lists account closure as a waived charge, so you should not be billed for closing.

Before you start: is closing the right move?

Some people close an account to stop charges, and others because they have moved banks. If your aim is just to stop using it, remember that Fidelity's FAQ says current accounts become dormant after six months of inactivity. A dormant account still exists, still holds your money and can still carry obligations. A proper closure, confirmed in writing, is cleaner than leaving an account to drift.

If the account is restricted, closing it will not get round the restriction. Deal with that first; see Fidelity account restricted or PND.

What to clear before you ask

  1. Move the balance. Transfer it to another account in your own name, leaving only what the bank may need to settle final charges. Large balances are easier to move by app or online banking than by *770#, which Fidelity caps at ₦20,000 per transfer and ₦100,000 a day.
  2. Repay any loan or overdraft. A bank will not close an account that a facility is linked to. For Fidelity's payday and digital personal loans, the FAQ says you can repay by dialling *770*08# and choosing option 3, pay loan.
  3. Cancel standing orders and direct debits. Tell anyone who pays into the account, especially an employer, of your new details before you close.
  4. Unlink the account from bill payments, betting, subscriptions, pension and tax records.
  5. Download your statements. Once closed, getting history is harder. See how to get a Fidelity statement.
  6. Gather your cards and cheque book. The bank will ask for them or for confirmation that they have been destroyed.

Making the request

Fidelity does not publish a closure form on the pages we checked in October 2026. Its contact page lists "Account Management Service" as an enquiry type, and its FAQ shows that account requests are accepted by email to the True Serve address. In practice there are two routes:

At a branch
Take valid ID (NIN slip, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card), your cards and cheque book, and a signed letter or the bank's form.
By email
Send a signed, scanned request from the email address on your account to trueserve@fidelitybank.ng, attaching ID, and ask what else is needed.

A simple closure letter

Address it to the branch manager or to Fidelity Bank Plc, The Fidelity Place, 2 Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Include:

  • Your full name as on the account, account number and account type.
  • A clear sentence: "I request that this account be closed with effect from [date]."
  • Where any remaining balance should go: account name, number and bank, in your own name.
  • A statement that cards and cheque books are returned or destroyed.
  • A request for written confirmation of closure.
  • Your signature, matching the mandate the bank holds, and the date.

For a joint or business account, every required signatory must sign, in line with the mandate. A company will normally also need a board resolution. Our bank letter templates show the format.

What it should cost

The CBN's Guide to Charges (effective 1 January 2020) lists account closure among the charges that are waived. A bank can still take charges already due, such as card maintenance or SMS alerts up to the closing date, and a transfer fee if the balance is sent to another bank. Fidelity's FAQ gives naira card maintenance as ₦53.75 including VAT per quarter and dollar card maintenance as $10 a year, as at October 2026. If you are charged a fee described as a closure fee, ask which item in the CBN guide it relies on.

After you submit

  • Ask for a reference number and the date by which the bank expects to confirm.
  • Keep the account empty but do not try to force it into overdraft; small debits can still post before closure.
  • Check for a final statement or confirmation letter.
  • Update your BVN-linked records elsewhere if the account was your salary or pension account.

If the bank does not act, follow up with True Serve on 0700 343 35489, then escalate. The CBN asks customers to complain to the bank first and allow two weeks before writing to its Consumer Protection Department; see how to complain to the CBN.

Closing from abroad

If you live outside Nigeria, Fidelity's diaspora desk handles account requests remotely. Its FAQ gives diasporacustomerservice@fidelitybank.ng and +234-1-2701936, and says forms and supporting documents can be completed, scanned and emailed. Expect to be asked for a valid ID and, for some requests, a notarised document. Ask the desk to confirm in writing which documents it needs before you pay a notary.

Where Pryme fits

If you are moving your everyday banking, a Pryme account opens from your phone and holds naira with Solid Allianze MFB alongside dollars, pounds and euros; you can open an account before you close the old one.

Questions people ask

How do I close my Fidelity Bank account?

Clear the balance and any loan, cancel standing orders, then submit a signed closure request with ID at a branch or by email to trueserve@fidelitybank.ng, returning cards and cheques.

Can I close my Fidelity account online?

Fidelity does not publish an online closure button. You can email a signed request to True Serve, which may ask for more documents or a branch visit.

Does Fidelity charge to close an account?

The CBN Guide to Charges lists account closure as waived. Charges already due, such as card maintenance, can still be taken.

What happens if I just stop using my Fidelity account?

Fidelity's FAQ says current accounts become dormant after six months of inactivity. The account and its balance remain; it is not closed.
