Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

Cleva customer care and complaint route

Where Cleva's help lives, what to send to resolve a card or wallet problem in one go, and how to escalate a complaint that is not settled.

The short answer

Use Cleva's help centre at help.getcleva.com and the support option in the Cleva app, sending your registered email, the transaction details and screenshots in one message. The Cleva help article we opened in October 2026 listed no phone number or email, only links to Cleva's social accounts. For card disputes, note Cleva's pricing page lists a $50 dispute fee.

Where Cleva's support is

Cleva runs a help centre at help.getcleva.com with articles on its USD wallet and cards. Its article on the Classic USD card, dated 13 July 2026, links to Cleva's accounts on X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, but gives no telephone number or support email. We could not confirm a published phone or email on the pages we opened, so we do not print one. The support option inside the Cleva app is the route that ties your message to your verified account.

Answer it yourself first

Many Cleva queries have a documented answer. The Classic card article, for instance, sets out rules that explain common problems:

  • Payments are taken from your USD wallet, so an empty wallet means a declined card.
  • Each payment is limited to between $1 and $3,000, adjustable in Cards, then More, then Spending limit.
  • Cards may be closed after 10 consecutive declines for insufficient funds; a successful spend of $5 or more resets the counter after 24 hours.
  • You can create up to 3 cards within 90 days.

If your card stopped working after a run of declined subscription payments, the decline rule is the likely reason. Our guide to the Cleva dollar card covers the fees and limits in full.

What to send support

  • Your full name and registered email.
  • What happened and what you want done.
  • Transaction date, amount, currency and merchant or sender name.
  • For incoming payments: who sent it, from which platform, and their payment reference.
  • For withdrawals: the receiving bank account and the status shown.
  • Screenshots of errors.

Card disputes: think before you open one

If a merchant charged you wrongly, you can dispute a card payment, but Cleva's pricing page lists a $50 dispute fee, as at October 2026. On small amounts that is more than the charge.

Worked example: is a dispute worth it? (example only)

Wrong chargeDispute feeWorth disputing?
$12$50No. Ask the merchant for a refund directly.
$60$50Only if the merchant refuses and you expect to win; you would net $10.
$400$50Usually yes, after asking the merchant first.

Always contact the merchant first. Most subscription and online shop errors are refunded on request, at no cost to you.

Making it a formal complaint

  1. Write to Cleva through the app with the heading "Formal complaint".
  2. Set out the facts in date order, attach evidence and state the outcome you want.
  3. Ask for a complaint reference and the date you will get a response.
  4. Keep a log of every contact: date, channel and what you were told.
  5. If unresolved, ask Cleva in writing which regulated entity holds your account and which regulator handles complaints about it, then escalate there.

Dollar accounts used by Nigerians are often provided through regulated partners in other countries, so the right regulator depends on the entity named in your terms. Read your account terms for that name. If the issue is with a naira payout to your Nigerian bank, your bank's complaints process and the CBN's consumer protection route apply to the bank side.

Response times and following up

Support queues are busiest around month ends, when many freelancers are paid and withdraw at once, and after public holidays. If you have sent a complete message, avoid sending the same query again through several channels; duplicates can slow things down. Wait for a reasonable period, then reply in the same thread with a short follow-up that quotes your earlier message and any ticket number.

If you are dealing with a time-sensitive problem, such as a card payment for a booking that keeps declining, say so in the first line and give the deadline. Support teams can usually only prioritise what they know is urgent.

Where Pryme fits

When you need to prove a payment was made or received, a statement the other side can check is useful. Pryme customers can generate a regular or a verifiable receipt or statement through our partnership with VerifyDoc.ai; see receipts and statements.
