Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to become an Access Closa agent

Who can apply to be an Access Closa agent, the ID, location and ₦50,000 working-capital rules, the services offered, and what Access publishes on pay.

The short answer

Access Closa is Access Bank's agency banking network. Access says individuals without a registered business, registered businesses and corporates with retail chains can apply, and an agent needs a visible, accessible business location, at least ₦50,000 in working capital, a valid ID and a utility bill (plus business registration for corporates). Access's agency page links a separate "CLOSA New Rates" document but does not state commission, terminal fees or settlement times on the page itself, so ask Access to confirm them in writing before you start.

What a Closa agent does

A Closa agent is a shop or kiosk that offers basic Access Bank services to people nearby, on the bank's behalf. According to Access Bank's agency banking page (checked October 2026), Closa agents can offer:

  • Cash deposits and cash withdrawals
  • Fund transfers
  • Bill payments
  • Airtime purchase
  • Account opening, using a POS terminal and mobile channels

Agents earn from the transactions they carry out. The customer gets banking close to home; the agent gets commission and extra foot traffic for the main business.

Who can apply and what you need

Access lists three types of applicant: individuals without a registered business, registered businesses, and corporates with chains of retail outlets. The requirements on its page, as at October 2026, are:

RequirementWhat Access asks for
LocationA visible and accessible business location
Working capitalA minimum of ₦50,000
IdentityA valid ID: voter's card, driver's licence, international passport or national ID
AddressA utility bill
Business registrationRequired for corporate applicants

Because an individual can apply without a registered business, the Closa route is open to many small shop owners. If you later grow into several outlets, registering a business name or company makes the corporate route available; see business name or limited company.

Steps to apply

  1. Read the requirements on Access Bank's agency banking page and open the linked rates document so you know the current customer charges.
  2. Prepare your ID, a recent utility bill for the business address and, for a company, your registration documents.
  3. Make sure you have at least ₦50,000 you can commit as working capital, split between cash in the shop and money in the agent account.
  4. Contact Access through its contact centre (the agency page lists 0201 280 2500 and 0700 300 0000, and contactcenter@accessbankplc.com) or visit a branch and ask for the Closa agent onboarding team.
  5. Expect the bank to check your location before activation; Access also says customers can verify an agent's location through its contact centre.
  6. Before signing, ask in writing about the terminal (any fee or caution deposit), commission per transaction, how and when commission is paid, and transaction limits.

Access's page does not publish a terminal fee, caution deposit, commission rate or settlement timing, so those points remain unconfirmed until the bank gives them to you.

How agent pay compares

Banks publish different amounts of detail. For comparison, UBA's UBA Moni page (checked October 2026) lists a fixed commission per transaction type, says settlement is instant with commission paid after each transaction, and states that its terminals are free. Access's page does not give equivalent figures. Read bank agent vs fintech agent before you choose a network, and see POS charges per transaction for how customer fees and agent commission relate.

Working capital: a worked example (illustrative)

An agent starts with the minimum ₦50,000 and splits it ₦30,000 cash and ₦20,000 in the agent account. A customer withdraws ₦15,000: the agent pays out ₦15,000 cash and the agent account is credited ₦15,000. The agent now holds ₦15,000 cash and ₦35,000 in the account; the total is still ₦50,000, plus any commission. Two more ₦15,000 withdrawals would empty the cash drawer, which is why many agents keep more than the minimum. See how much float a POS business needs.

Is a Closa point worth it? A way to test

Because Access does not publish commission on its agency page, do the sums with the figures the bank gives you. Write down three numbers: commission per transaction type, the number of transactions you expect a day, and your costs.

Example calculation (hypothetical commission figures)

Assume, only for illustration, that the bank confirms ₦50 commission per withdrawal and ₦30 per transfer, and the shop handles 25 withdrawals and 10 transfers a day:

  • Withdrawals: 25 × ₦50 = ₦1,250
  • Transfers: 10 × ₦30 = ₦300
  • Daily commission: ₦1,550
  • Over 26 trading days: ₦40,300 a month, before costs such as data, power and security

Replace the assumed figures with the bank's written rates. If the result does not cover your costs, the point only makes sense as a way to bring customers into your main shop. For a fuller picture of monthly takings, see a monthly POS earnings example.

What to check first

  1. Is your shop visible from the street and easy to reach?
  2. Can you commit more than ₦50,000, so you do not run out of cash by midday?
  3. Do you have the bank's written commission and customer charges?
  4. Who do you call when a transaction fails, and how fast are reversals handled?

Running a Closa point well

  • Display the bank's branding and your agent details where customers can see them.
  • Keep a daily sheet of every transaction, cash count and commission; see a daily record sheet.
  • Never take a customer's PIN or card out of their sight, and refuse "reversal" requests that skip the bank's process.
  • Follow the CBN agent banking rules on where and how agents may operate; see CBN agent banking rules.
  • Learn the common frauds; see POS fraud in Nigeria.

Questions people ask

What are the requirements to become an Access Closa agent?

Access lists a visible and accessible business location, minimum working capital of ₦50,000, a valid ID, a utility bill, and business registration for corporates.

Can I become an Access Bank agent without CAC registration?

Yes. Access says individuals without a registered business can apply. Business registration is listed for corporate applicants.

How much commission does an Access Closa agent earn?

Access's agency page does not state commission figures; it links a separate rates document. Ask Access to confirm commission, payment timing and limits in writing.

Does Access Bank give Closa agents free POS?

Access's agency page does not state a terminal fee or caution deposit. Ask the onboarding team before you apply.
