An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How Aba households get water: the revived public scheme, boreholes, water vendors and tankers, with labelled prices and a worked borehole cost.
Most Aba households rely on private boreholes, water vendors and tankers, because public piped supply largely failed for years; the state began reviving the Aba Urban Water Scheme in July 2025, and its programme aims to put a public standpipe within a short walk of every home. In our labelled example a basic household borehole with pump and tank comes to about ₦1.7 million, but depth and ground conditions decide the real cost, so get a survey and written quotes.
For a long time, public piped water in Aba reached few homes. When Governor Alex Otti inaugurated the first phase of the revived Aba Urban Water Scheme on 16 July 2025, a community leader said water had not flowed in the area for more than 20 years (NAN, 16 July 2025). Households filled the gap with their own boreholes, shared compound boreholes, vendors selling by the jerrycan and tanker deliveries into overhead tanks.
The scheme at Christ the King Cathedral, Aba, is part of the Abia Integrated WASH Accelerated Programme (AIWAP). According to the state's Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, the programme aims to place a public standpipe within a two to three minute walk of every home, starting with urban and semi-urban areas, with facilities solar-powered and a newly acquired drilling rig to be deployed to more communities. Partners named included UNICEF, the European Union and the World Bank (NAN, 16 July 2025). No tariff for public water was given. If a standpipe has been installed near you, ask the ward or the ministry what it costs and when it runs.
Prices below are examples; there is no published price list for vendors or tankers in Aba, and prices rise with fuel costs and in the dry season.
| Source | How it works | Example cost |
|---|---|---|
| Public standpipe | Fetch from a nearby tap where the scheme has reached | Ask locally; not published |
| Water vendor (jerrycan) | Buy by the 25-litre jerrycan at your door | ₦100 to ₦200 a jerrycan |
| Tanker delivery | Truck fills your tank | ₦20,000 to ₦35,000 for 5,000 litres |
| Compound borehole | Shared cost among tenants or neighbours | Monthly contribution to power and repairs |
| Own borehole | Drill once, run on power | See worked example below |
Example: a household of four uses 100 litres a day, about 3,000 litres a month. From vendors at ₦100 a jerrycan that is 3,000 ÷ 25 = 120 jerrycans, ₦12,000 a month. At ₦200 a jerrycan it is ₦24,000. A tanker delivering 5,000 litres for ₦25,000 works out at ₦5 a litre, the same as jerrycans at ₦125, but you need a tank to receive it.
Borehole cost depends mainly on how deep the driller must go to reach reliable water, which varies across Aba, and on the pump and storage you choose. The figures below are an example for a simple household borehole:
| Item (example) | Example cost |
|---|---|
| Site survey | ₦80,000 |
| Drilling, casing and gravel packing | ₦900,000 |
| Submersible pump | ₦250,000 |
| 2,000-litre tank and stand | ₦350,000 |
| Plumbing and wiring | ₦120,000 |
| Water quality test | ₦40,000 |
| Example total | ₦1,740,000 |
Check: ₦80,000 + ₦900,000 + ₦250,000 + ₦350,000 + ₦120,000 + ₦40,000 = ₦1,740,000. Shared across eight flats in a compound, that is ₦217,500 each (₦1,740,000 ÷ 8). Against a vendor bill of ₦12,000 a month, a single household's ₦1,740,000 would take about 145 months to pay back before running costs, which is why compound boreholes shared among tenants are common.
A pump needs power. Aba is served by Aba Power, which said in January 2025 that meter access among its customers had risen from 5% in 2023 to 28% in 2024 (Prime Business Africa, 26 January 2025), so many buildings still pay estimated bills or run pumps on generators. Budget for power, a pump repair fund and periodic cleaning of the tank. Our guide to getting a prepaid meter in Aba helps you see what pumping really costs.
Whatever the source, water kept in tanks and jerrycans can pick up dirt. Keep tank lids closed, clean tanks on a regular schedule, and keep drinking water in a separate covered container. Boiling or filtering drinking water from vendors and tankers is a common precaution when you do not know where it was drawn.
Renters should agree water arrangements before signing; see rent in Aba by area and the cost of living in Aba.
For a compound borehole, a Naira Savings Box can hold each month's contribution towards repairs, and through our partnership with VerifyDoc.ai you can generate a verifiable receipt for what each tenant has paid. Pryme Financial Ltd is a technology company, not a bank.
It depends on depth and equipment. Our labelled example for a basic household borehole with pump, tank and test comes to about ₦1.74 million. Get a survey and written quotes.
The state inaugurated the first phase of the revived Aba Urban Water Scheme in July 2025, with a programme to put standpipes near homes. Coverage is still growing; ask locally.
No price list is published. As an example, ₦20,000 to ₦35,000 for 5,000 litres, rising in the dry season and with fuel prices.
Not without testing. Have the water tested after drilling and periodically, and treat or filter drinking water until you know it is safe.
