Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Italy

Can Nigerians in Italy vote in Nigerian elections?

No diaspora voting exists yet. What the Constitution says, which bills failed, where 2027 stands, and how Nigerians in Italy can still take part.

The short answer

No. As at October 2026, Nigerian law does not allow voting from abroad, so Nigerians in Italy can vote only in person at their registered polling unit in Nigeria. Section 77(2) of the Constitution ties voter registration to residence in Nigeria; a 2022 amendment failed and a 2024 Electoral Act bill stalled in committee, and a NIDCOM official said in June 2026 it was too late for the 2027 elections.

The short answer: not from Italy

Nigeria does not run polling stations abroad, accept postal ballots or allow online voting. A Nigerian living in Rome, Turin or Padua who wants to vote in a presidential, National Assembly or governorship election has to be registered as a voter and be physically present at their polling unit in Nigeria on election day. That has been the position at every election so far, and BusinessDay's June 2026 investigation describes Nigeria as having yet to integrate diaspora voting in its electoral process.

The barrier is constitutional rather than administrative. As TheCable reported in January 2023, section 77(2) of the 1999 Constitution ties voter registration to residence in Nigeria, and the provisions on presidential and governorship elections (sections 132(5) and 178(5)) follow the same framework. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said repeatedly that it can only act within that framework.

What lawmakers have tried

AttemptWhat happened (as reported)
Bill to amend the 2010 Electoral Act (Abike Dabiri-Erewa, then a member of the House)Rejected; the House majority reportedly called it too expensive and said Nigeria was not ready (BusinessDay, June 2026)
2022 constitution review: amendment to sections 77(2) and 117(2)Failed. The Senate vote was 29 in favour; reports of the House vote differ (BusinessDay gives 87 for and 269 against; Peoples Gazette/NAN gave 58 for and 240 against)
2023 Senate bill (Ned Nwoko)Introduced to allow diaspora voting through constitutional changes
2024 bill to add diaspora voting to the Electoral Act (Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Sadiq Ango Abdullahi)Passed second reading and was sent to the Constitution Amendment Committee; BusinessDay reported nothing had been heard of it since

An Electoral Act change alone would struggle while section 77(2) still links registration to residence, which is why most campaigners push for a constitutional amendment. Constitutional amendments need far wider support than the 2022 attempt won.

Where things stand for 2027

In February 2026, AllAfrica reported that INEC, under its chairman Joash Amupitan, was still working under the existing legal framework because the amended Electoral Act had not been passed. In June 2026 BusinessDay quoted Abdul-Rahman Balogun of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) as saying it was too late for the next election because the election process for 2027 was already concluded. Former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu had said the commission would be ready once the National Assembly passed a law. On the information available in October 2026, Nigerians in Italy should not expect to vote from abroad in 2027.

If you want to vote anyway

  1. Check that you are registered. If you registered before you left Nigeria, your registration and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remain tied to your polling unit. Check INEC's own channels for your status.
  2. Plan to be home. Election dates are fixed by INEC well in advance. If you plan a trip, budget for flights around election weekend, which are often in demand; see budgeting a trip home from Italy for planning costs.
  3. Collect or protect your PVC. A PVC left with family in Nigeria should be kept safe; it is needed on the day.
  4. Know the transfer rules. If you have moved within Nigeria, a transfer of registration has to be made during INEC's registration windows.

Other ways to take part

  • Contact your representatives. Diaspora voting bills move when members of the National Assembly hear from constituents. Your senator and House member represent your home constituency even while you live abroad.
  • Engage through NIDCOM and diaspora associations, which make submissions to constitution review committees.
  • Keep your documents current, so you are ready if a diaspora register is ever created. A valid Nigerian passport and NIN are the most likely proofs of identity; see getting a NIN while living in Italy.
  • Watch official announcements from INEC and the Embassy of Nigeria in Rome rather than social media posts.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme has no role in elections. If you travel home to vote, a Pryme account lets you hold naira for the trip and send money to family, with the rate and fee shown before you approve any conversion. Naira deposits are held by a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank; outside Nigeria, Pryme works through regulated partners.

Questions people ask

Can I vote at the Nigerian Embassy in Rome?

No. Nigeria has no legal provision for voting at embassies, by post or online. You must vote in person at your polling unit in Nigeria.

Will diaspora voting be ready for the 2027 elections?

Unlikely. In June 2026 a NIDCOM official said it was too late for 2027, and the 2024 bill had not moved beyond committee, as BusinessDay reported.

Why can't Nigerians abroad vote?

Section 77(2) of the Constitution ties voter registration to residence in Nigeria. Changing it needs a constitutional amendment, and the 2022 attempt failed.

Is my PVC still valid if I live in Italy?

Your registration stays tied to your polling unit in Nigeria. Check your status on INEC's official channels before travelling to vote.
