You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

No UAE tax is withheld on dividends to non-residents today. In Nigeria, foreign dividends brought in through approved channels are exempt.
The UAE currently applies 0% withholding tax to dividends paid to non-residents, and there is no Nigeria-UAE tax treaty in force on PwC's list. In Nigeria, a resident individual is taxed on worldwide income, but PwC's summary of the rules says foreign dividends brought into Nigeria in convertible currency through approved channels are exempt. How the money comes home therefore matters as much as how much is paid.
Many Nigerians own UAE companies while living, or moving back, in Nigeria. When the company pays a dividend, two questions follow: does the UAE take anything at source, and what does Nigeria expect? This guide covers both, explains the condition that decides whether Nigeria taxes the dividend, and flags a separate risk that catches founders who run the UAE company from Lagos. It is information, not tax advice; take advice on your own facts.
PwC's UAE summary (reviewed 9 September 2026) states that withholding tax, "currently set at 0%", applies to certain UAE-sourced income of non-residents, and that the rate and categories may be set by Cabinet decision. In practice the shareholder receives the full declared dividend. The UAE company itself still deals with UAE corporate tax on its profits; dividends are paid from what is left.
PwC's UAE treaty table has no entry for Nigeria. Without a treaty, relief, if any, comes from each country's domestic law; see the Nigeria-UAE double tax treaty status.
PwC's Nigeria summary (reviewed 29 May 2026) lists the tests: an individual is resident if any one applies, including domicile in Nigeria, a permanent home available for your use, a habitual abode, at least 183 days in Nigeria in any 12-month period, or substantial economic or immediate family ties. A resident's income is taxed regardless of where it arises or whether it is brought into Nigeria. A shareholder who has returned to Lagos, or whose spouse and children live there, should assume the residence rules may apply.
PwC's Nigeria income-determination page states that dividends, interest, rent and royalties earned abroad and brought into Nigeria in convertible currency through approved channels are exempt. Approved channels in practice means a transfer through a Nigerian bank that is an authorised dealer, which leaves a record. The same page does not say whether the money must stay in foreign currency once it arrives, or how quickly it must be brought in; ask your adviser before relying on a particular route.
| How the dividend is handled | Likely Nigerian position (per PwC summaries) | What to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Paid from the UAE to your Nigerian domiciliary account by bank transfer | Within the exemption for foreign dividends brought in through approved channels | UAE dividend resolution, payment advice, Nigerian bank credit advice |
| Paid into your UAE bank account and spent there | A resident is taxed on worldwide income whether or not it is brought in | The same records; take advice on filing |
| Carried into Nigeria as cash | No bank record of an approved channel; cash above $10,000 must be declared | Declaration forms, plus advice |
The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 treats a company as Nigerian if it is formed in Nigeria or if its central or effective place of management or control is in Nigeria, KPMG Nigeria explains. A company deemed Nigerian may face companies income tax at 30% on worldwide income and a 4% development levy, with foreign tax credit rules applying. "Management or control" is not defined in the Act. If you take the key decisions for your UAE company from Lagos, the dividend question may matter less than the company's own residence; keep board meetings, decisions and records where the company is meant to be managed.
Example only. Chidi lives in Abuja and owns 100% of a Dubai free zone trading company. The company declares a USD 20,000 dividend. UAE withholding at 0% leaves USD 20,000. The company wires it to Chidi's Nigerian domiciliary account; his bank's credit advice shows an inward transfer from the UAE. On PwC's summary, that dividend falls within the exemption for foreign dividends brought in through approved channels. Had the USD 20,000 stayed in his UAE account, the worldwide-income rule for residents would apply and he would need advice on reporting it. Separately, because Chidi signs every contract from Abuja, he asks an adviser whether the company risks being treated as Nigerian under the place-of-management test.
Holding companies used for Nigerian investments raise further points; see UAE holding companies and Nigerian tax and, for UAE-side reporting, UAE tax on Nigerian dividends and interest. The Nigerian authority is described in the NRS explained.
A Pryme account holds USD alongside NGN, GBP and EUR with local account details for each, so a dividend can arrive and stay in dollars until you choose to Swap, with the rate and fee shown before you approve. A verifiable statement through VerifyDoc.ai (receipts and statements) can help when an adviser or bank asks you to evidence the inflow.
PwC's UAE summary, reviewed September 2026, says UAE withholding tax is currently set at 0% on the categories it applies to, so the full dividend is usually paid.

Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, a company whose central or effective place of management or control is in Nigeria may be treated as a Nigerian company, KPMG explains. Where you take decisions matters.
