Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

TD Bank international wire to Nigeria: steps and fees

How TD Bank customers in the US wire money to Nigeria: details to collect, how the fee works, what we could and could not confirm on TD's fees.

The short answer

A TD Bank wire to Nigeria is a standard SWIFT wire: you give TD the receiver's exact name and address, the Nigerian bank's name, address and SWIFT code, the account number and the purpose. We could not open TD's fee schedule in October 2026, so check the outgoing international wire fee there or on the wire screen; for comparison, Bank of America lists $45 for an international wire in US dollars, and NerdWallet puts the median at $45.

How a TD wire to Nigeria works

TD Bank, the US arm of the Canadian TD group, sends international payments as SWIFT wires from your TD account. The money leaves TD, may pass through one or more correspondent banks in the US, and reaches the Nigerian bank, which credits the receiver. Each step can take time and, sometimes, a fee.

We tried to open TD's own wire and fee pages for this guide in October 2026 and could not load them, so this guide sets out what any US bank wire to Nigeria needs, how the costs are made up, and what to confirm with TD before you send. Where we give figures for other banks, they are labelled.

Steps

  1. Ask the receiver for their bank's instructions for incoming foreign transfers, in writing.
  2. Decide the currency. Most Nigerian banks publish instructions for receiving US dollars into a domiciliary account; ask TD whether it can send in naira at all.
  3. Check whether TD lets you send international wires online or in the app on your account; if not, book a branch visit and take photo ID.
  4. Enter the details exactly, including the purpose.
  5. Read the disclosure before you approve: fee, exchange rate if any, amount to be delivered and availability date.
  6. Keep the receipt and the wire reference. If the wire stalls, the Swift UETR, a 36-character reference carried by every SWIFT payment, lets any bank in the chain locate it.

The details TD will ask for

FieldExample of what to enter
Beneficiary nameName exactly as on the Nigerian account, in the same order
Beneficiary addressFull address in Nigeria with town and state
Account numberThe 10-digit number of the dollar account for a USD wire
Bank and SWIFTFor example Fidelity Bank Plc, FIDTNGLA
Intermediary bankIf the form asks, the Nigerian bank's US correspondent; Fidelity's 2025 instructions name Citibank N.A. New York (CITIUS33)
PurposeFor example family maintenance, school fees

For the details family should give you, see receiving bank details your family must give.

How the fee works, with other banks for comparison

A wire to Nigeria can cost you in three places: the sending fee, any correspondent deduction on the way, and the exchange rate if a bank converts. The sending fee is the one TD will show you. For a sense of the range, here is what other large US banks list, with the source and date:

BankOutgoing international wire in USDSource
Bank of America$45BofA's wire page, checked Oct 2026
Chase$40 online, $50 with a bankerWise, Mar 2026, citing Chase
Wells Fargo$25 online, $40 in branchWise, May 2026, citing Wells Fargo
Median of banks surveyed$45NerdWallet, Jul 2026

These are not TD's figures. TD's own fee will be on its personal fee schedule and on the wire screen; use that number in your sums.

Worked example

Example only, with an assumed fee. Chinedu wires $1,500 in US dollars from TD to his mother's dollar account. Suppose TD's fee is $45 and a correspondent deducts $20. $1,545 leaves his account and $1,480 arrives. His total cost is $65, or about 4.3% of the $1,500.

Before you go to the branch

If you send from a TD store rather than online, a little preparation saves a second visit:

  • Bring a valid photo ID and your TD debit card.
  • Print or save the Nigerian bank's incoming transfer instructions, not a hand-copied version.
  • Have the receiver's full address written out; include the town, state and country.
  • Know the purpose and the relationship, in a few words.
  • Ask the banker for the fee, the cut-off time that day and the expected delivery date before you sign.
  • Ask for a copy of the wire confirmation with the reference number.

If the wire is later held in Nigeria, the receiving bank will contact the receiver, not you. Make sure the receiver knows a wire is coming, how much, and why, so they can answer at once.

Timing and protections

  • International wires typically take 1 to 5 business days at the banks whose pages we read; weekends and US or Nigerian public holidays add days.
  • Federal rules treat a consumer wire abroad as a remittance transfer: TD must disclose costs first, you can cancel within 30 minutes for a full refund unless the money has been deposited, and you have 180 days from the disclosed availability date to report an error, the CFPB says.
  • A wire from your TD account is not subject to the 1% federal remittance tax, which covers cash-funded transfers.

If the wire comes back, read what happens when a US wire to Nigeria is returned.

Where Pryme fits

If your family needs naira, a Pryme account lets you hold dollars, convert with Swap and pay a Nigerian account with Send, seeing the rate and fee before you approve.

Questions people ask

How much is a TD Bank international wire fee?

We could not open TD's fee schedule in October 2026. Check its personal fee schedule or the wire screen; other big banks list $25 to $50 for an outgoing international wire in US dollars.

Can I send a TD Bank wire to Nigeria online?

Ask TD whether online international wires are available on your account; otherwise a branch can send it with your photo ID.

What SWIFT code do I use for a Nigerian bank?

The receiving bank's own code, for example FIDTNGLA for Fidelity. Confirm it with the receiver's bank.

Why did less money arrive than I sent?

A correspondent bank may have deducted a fee on the way, or the Nigerian bank charged on receipt.
