Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United States

Transfer history as proof of support for USCIS

How remittance records to Nigeria can show support of family in a USCIS case, which records make them strong, and the mistakes to avoid.

The short answer

Transfer records can help show you support dependants in Nigeria, which matters for naturalisation because 8 CFR 316.10 treats willful failure to support dependants as a possible bar to good moral character. They are strongest as a set: provider receipts, matching US bank statements, the recipient's statements and proof of purpose, with certified translations for anything not in English.

Money you send to family in Nigeria can come up in a US immigration case in a few different ways. Sometimes you want to show it: that you support a child or a spouse at home. Sometimes an officer asks about it. Either way, the quality of the record matters, and a pile of screenshots is weaker than people expect.

Where support evidence can matter

Naturalisation and good moral character

The naturalisation regulation, 8 CFR 316.10 (up to date as of 22 October 2026), says that unless an applicant establishes extenuating circumstances, an applicant may be found to lack good moral character if during the statutory period they "willfully failed or refused to support dependents". For a parent with children in Nigeria, a steady transfer history is direct evidence of support.

Petitions and relationships

Regular transfers to a spouse or child abroad can form part of the wider picture of an ongoing relationship. USCIS decides on all the evidence; there is no rule that says remittances prove a relationship on their own.

The Affidavit of Support

For Form I-864, USCIS's page says assets must be documented with their location, ownership, date acquired, value and any liens. Money you have already sent abroad is no longer your asset, but the same records show your financial pattern, so expect them to be consistent with your tax returns. Our guide to the I-864 income requirement covers the thresholds.

What makes transfer records strong

RecordWhy it helps
Provider receiptsFederal rules require them to show the amount, fees, rate, amount delivered and recipient's name.
Your US bank statementsShow the money left your account on the same dates.
Recipient's statement or receiptShows the credit arrived in the dependant's (or carer's) account in Nigeria.
A short summary tableDate, amount sent, amount received in naira, recipient, purpose. Makes a long history readable.
Purpose evidenceSchool fee invoices, hospital bills, rent receipts paid with the money.

Names matter. If you send to a child's guardian or a school rather than to the child, say who the recipient is and their relationship to the dependant, and add evidence that links the two, such as the school's fee receipt in the child's name.

Translations, missing records and affidavits

USCIS's general evidence rule, 8 CFR 103.2, says any foreign-language document must come with a full certified English translation, and USCIS may ask for originals. Most Nigerian bank statements are in English, but a receipt in Yoruba or Hausa would need translating. Where required primary evidence does not exist, the rule allows secondary evidence and, failing that, two or more affidavits from people with direct personal knowledge, so a missing receipt can sometimes be supported by statements from the recipient and others. If you have lost a receipt, see getting a copy from a US app.

Building the summary table

Officers and lawyers read faster when the pattern is laid out. One page is usually enough: a row per transfer with the date, the dollars sent, the naira delivered as shown on the receipt, the recipient's name and relationship, and the purpose. Total the columns at the bottom and check the arithmetic. Number each receipt to match its row, so anyone can turn from the table to the evidence behind it. If amounts vary, add a short note explaining why, for example a larger payment each September for school fees. Where you also paid bills directly, such as a hospital in Nigeria, include those payments in the same table with their invoices, so the whole picture of support is in one place.

What not to do

  • Do not create or back-date receipts. Altered documents can cause far more harm than a gap in evidence.
  • Do not send money through other people's accounts to make the record look larger.
  • Do not assume transfers count for tax. The IRS says a dependant must be a US citizen, resident or national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico, so a child living in Nigeria usually cannot be claimed; see claiming relatives in Nigeria as dependants.
  • Do not rely on this page for your case. Immigration points here are information, not legal advice; an immigration lawyer can tell you what your case needs.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme keeps each transfer in your account history, and you can generate a verifiable statement through receipts and statements, powered by VerifyDoc.ai. Anyone you give it to, including an officer or a lawyer, can check that a verifiable statement is genuine and unaltered. Transfers go through Send, with the rate and fee shown before you approve.

Questions people ask

Can money transfers prove I support my child in Nigeria?

They can be strong evidence, especially with your bank statements, the recipient's statements and purpose records such as school fee receipts. USCIS weighs all the evidence.

Does failing to support children affect US citizenship?

Under 8 CFR 316.10, willful failure or refusal to support dependents during the statutory period can count against good moral character unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Do Nigerian bank statements need translating for USCIS?

Only if they are not in English. 8 CFR 103.2 requires a full certified English translation of any foreign-language document.

What if I lost the receipts for old transfers?

Ask the provider for copies; FinCEN guidance requires records of transfers of $3,000 or more to be kept for five years. Where records do not exist, 8 CFR 103.2 allows secondary evidence and affidavits.
