Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to check T2 (9mobile) airtime and data balance

The codes that check airtime and data balance on T2 (9mobile), why older *232# and *228# guides may fail, and what to do when the balance looks wrong.

The short answer

On T2 (formerly 9mobile), dial *310# for your airtime balance and *323# for your data balance; these are the universal codes the NCC set for every Nigerian network. Older guides quote *232# and *228#, which NCC allowed to run alongside the new codes only until 17 May 2023.

The two codes to use

Since 2023 every mobile network in Nigeria has had to use the same short codes for the same everyday tasks. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) published the list on its consumer portal, and it applies to T2 just as it does to the other networks. For balances, the two that matter are:

What you wantCodeNotes
Airtime (main) balance*310#NCC universal code for checking balance
Data bundle balance*323#NCC universal code for data plan balance
Buy a data plan*312#Useful once you have seen the balance is low
Recharge a voucher*311#NCC universal code for credit recharge

Dial the code from the T2 SIM you are checking. The answer appears as a pop-up on screen, sometimes followed by an SMS. If you use a dual-SIM phone, make sure the dialler is set to the T2 SIM, or you will get the other network's balance.

What about *232# and *228#?

Many websites still list *232# for airtime and *228# for data on 9mobile. Those are the network's older codes. The NCC's notice says old codes would co-exist with the harmonised ones only until 17 May 2023. Some legacy codes may still respond on some lines, but you should not rely on them, and they are not the official route today. If *310# or *323# fails, try again after restarting the phone, then contact customer care.

Reading the result

Airtime

The airtime result usually shows your main account balance and, where you have them, bonus balances. Bonus airtime often can only be used for specific things, such as calls to T2 numbers, and may expire sooner than main airtime. Read each line rather than adding them together.

Data

The data result shows the bundle (or bundles) on your line and when each expires. If you have a bonus, such as the weekend data T2 advertises for repeat purchases of some plans, it may show as a separate balance with its own expiry. Check which balance your phone is using: if your bundle has run out, you may be using airtime for browsing at standard rates.

If you have borrowed

If you used Morecredit, part of your next recharge goes to clear the loan and the 15% fee. A smaller-than-expected balance after recharging is often the loan being recovered. See how Morecredit is recovered.

Common reasons a balance check fails

  • The phone is set to dial from the other SIM on a dual-SIM handset.
  • The SIM is barred or restricted, for example because NIN linkage is incomplete. You can verify linkage with the NCC code 996.
  • Network congestion: USSD sessions time out when the network is busy. Wait a minute and try again.
  • A typing error: a missing asterisk or hash sign returns an error message rather than a balance.

If a balance code keeps failing while calls work, note the error message and report it. A pattern of failures in your area can be a network issue that customer care needs to hear about.

Example: tracking where your data went

Example only. Amaka checks *323# at 8am and sees 5GB left on a weekly plan. At 8pm it shows 3.2GB. That is 1.8GB used in twelve hours. If she only messaged and browsed, the likely causes are automatic app updates, video autoplay or cloud photo backup. Turning those off on mobile data is usually the fix, not a complaint.

Checking from an app

The older 9mobile site advertised a my9mobile app for managing a line, including registration rewards. We could not confirm the current name or features of the T2 app on a page we opened in October 2026, so treat the USSD codes as the dependable route and use the app only if you already have it working.

Checking for someone else

If you look after a parent's or child's T2 line, you cannot check their balance from your own phone with these codes. Ask them to dial *310# and *323# and read out or screenshot the result, or set a routine of topping up on a fixed day so the balance never runs low. Paying for family from a distance is easier with a set routine; see a monthly system for family bills.

When the balance looks wrong

  1. Check both *310# and *323#, and note the time and the figures shown.
  2. Ask whether a loan, an auto-renewing bundle or a value-added service could explain the deduction. Stopping unwanted services uses the NCC universal code 305.
  3. Call T2 customer care on 300, the NCC's universal call-centre code, and ask for a breakdown. Keep the complaint reference.
  4. If T2 does not resolve it, escalate to the NCC. Steps are in T2 customer care and NCC escalation.

Where Pryme fits

Balance checks are most useful when you top up before you run out. A Pryme account lets you buy airtime and data for any Nigerian network from the app (airtime and data), and a Personal Assistant can prompt you when a recurring bundle is due, preparing the purchase for you to approve. For wider tips, see how to stop wasting money on airtime and data.

Questions people ask

How do I check my 9mobile data balance?

Dial *323# from your T2 (9mobile) line. It is the NCC's universal code for data plan balance and shows each bundle with its expiry.

What is the 9mobile airtime balance code?

Dial *310#. The older *232# code is widely quoted, but NCC's harmonised codes replaced network-specific ones, with old codes allowed only until 17 May 2023.

Why is my 9mobile balance less after recharge?

A common reason is a Morecredit loan being recovered, with its 15% fee. Auto-renewing bundles and subscribed services are other causes.

Can I check another person's T2 balance?

Not with these codes. *310# and *323# show the balance of the SIM you dial from.
