Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Arab Emirates

RAKEZ company setup for Nigerian founders

RAKEZ in Ras Al Khaimah: its FZ-LLC and branch options, the AED 6,000 Basic package, the document checklist and what a Nigerian-owned company needs.

The short answer

RAKEZ, the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, licenses individual shareholders as a Free Zone FZ-LLC (or a non-free-zone entity) and companies as branches. Its own page lists a Basic package at AED 6,000 with one shareholder, one activity and co-working but no visa, and a second tier at AED 12,000; the licence is valid for one year and the application is made online.

RAKEZ appeals to Nigerian founders who want a UAE licence at a lower entry price than many Dubai zones and are comfortable with an address in Ras Al Khaimah. This guide sets out what RAKEZ itself publishes, what a Nigerian applicant has to provide, and the questions to settle before you pay.

Entity types

RAKEZ's set-up checklist (last updated 30 December 2025) separates applicants into two groups:

Individual shareholders
Free Zone FZ-LLC, or a non-free-zone entity (IE or LLC) that can deal with the wider market under RAK rules.
Corporate shareholders
Free Zone UAE Branch, Free Zone Foreign Branch, Non-Free Zone UAE Branch or Non-Free Zone Foreign Branch.

A Nigerian founder setting up personally usually chooses the FZ-LLC. A Nigerian company expanding into the UAE might choose a foreign branch, which means its CAC documents become part of the file.

Packages and prices RAKEZ publishes

PackagePrice (RAKEZ page, Oct 2026)What it covers
BasicAED 6,000One shareholder, one activity, co-working access; no visa listed
LiteAED 12,000The page also describes an all-inclusive option with up to 5 shareholders, up to 5 activities, co-working and one residence visa; it does not say clearly that this is the Lite package

The page says the trade licence is valid for one year from issue and must be renewed before it expires to avoid penalties; it gives no renewal amount. It says no physical visit is needed and the licence is issued after the application is submitted and paid. Ask RAKEZ to confirm in writing what the AED 12,000 tier includes, and what renewal will cost.

Documents a Nigerian individual provides

  • Application for registration and licensing, and the Chamber of Commerce membership application.
  • Colour passport copy of each shareholder, the general manager and any director.
  • Visa copy or entry stamp for each of them.
  • Emirates ID copy if they are UAE residents.
  • An original no-objection certificate from the current sponsor or employer, for UAE residents.
  • A UBO declaration form with passport copy.
  • A business plan, only for certain activities.

Extra documents for a Nigerian company as shareholder

  • A shareholder or board resolution approving the RAKEZ entity and appointing the general manager.
  • A copy of the valid trade licence or registration (for a Nigerian company, the CAC certificate).
  • Memorandum and articles of association.
  • Commercial register or certificate of registration.
  • Certificate of good standing or registry extract.
  • Certificate of incumbency.

The RAKEZ checklist does not state attestation rules. The UAE MOFA FAQ, though, says documents issued outside the UAE are attested by the issuing country's foreign ministry, then the UAE embassy there, then UAE MOFA. For CAC documents that means Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE embassy in Abuja and then UAE MOFA. Ask RAKEZ whether it needs that full chain before you start, as it adds weeks.

Points to settle before choosing RAKEZ

  • Visa needs. If you need a residence visa, the Basic package lists none. Price the visa route separately.
  • Where your customers are. If you will sell to customers on the UAE mainland, ask RAKEZ whether the FZ-LLC or one of its non-free-zone entity types fits better; its checklist offers both.
  • Banking. Banks look at activities, shareholders and source of funds; see documents UAE banks want.
  • Office. Packages include co-working, but the FAQ lists a tenancy or lease among possible documents; confirm whether you need one for your activity or visa count.

Worked example (illustrative)

Example: a Lagos-based logistics founder wants a UAE entity for invoicing Gulf clients without moving yet. The Basic package at AED 6,000 covers one activity and one shareholder. If she later needs a residence visa, she upgrades or adds a visa at RAKEZ's quoted cost. Over two years, budget two licence fees plus any visa costs, and compare that total with a package that includes a visa from the start.

Steps in order

  1. Pick your activity and entity type (FZ-LLC for an individual, branch for a Nigerian company).
  2. Gather passport copies, visa or entry stamp, NOC if resident, and the UBO declaration.
  3. For a Nigerian company shareholder, start attestation of CAC documents early.
  4. Apply online, pay the package fee and receive the licence.
  5. Price and apply for any residence visa separately if your package has none.
  6. Open a bank account and register for corporate tax.

After setup

Register for UAE corporate tax, keep a UBO register, and diary the renewal; see corporate tax for free zone companies and renewing a UAE trade licence. For a broader view of the choice, read setting up a free zone company as a Nigerian.

Where Pryme fits

A RAKEZ company paid by Nigerian clients needs somewhere to receive naira and dollars. A Pryme Business Account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR, and business Swap converts only when you approve.

Questions people ask

How much is a RAKEZ licence?

RAKEZ's own page listed a Basic package at AED 6,000 and a second tier at AED 12,000 in October 2026. Renewal amounts are not stated.

Does the RAKEZ Basic package include a visa?

No visa is listed for Basic. The all-inclusive option on the same page includes one residence visa.

Can a Nigerian company own a RAKEZ entity?

Yes, as a branch. RAKEZ lists the board resolution, registration, memorandum and articles, good standing and incumbency certificates.

Do I need to visit Ras Al Khaimah to set up?

RAKEZ says no physical visit is needed for the application. Visa medicals and Emirates ID need you in the UAE.
