Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Passport intervention in Cardiff or Aberdeen: who can attend

The Cardiff and Aberdeen venues for the Nigerian passport intervention, who the published rules allow to attend and what to bring.

The short answer

The Nigeria High Commission's Phase 2 passport intervention (6 to 30 October 2026) includes Cardiff, at Western Leisure Centre, Ely, CF5 5HJ, and Aberdeen, at the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, AB24 4NR. The notice sets no residence rule: any applicant with an NIS application and a slot booked through the High Commission's link can attend, bringing the listed documents, the £20 charge (£150 if lost or damaged) and a prepaid Special Delivery envelope.

For Nigerians in Wales and Scotland, a passport appointment in London can cost more in train fares and lost wages than the passport itself. The High Commission's intervention exercise takes the biometric capture to regional venues, and the current phase includes both Cardiff and Aberdeen. This guide covers who can go, how far the published rules reach and what the High Commission does not say.

The Cardiff and Aberdeen venues

The High Commission's e-passport requirements page (checked October 2026) lists Phase 2 of the Special Passport Intervention Exercise from 6 to 30 October 2026:

CityVenue given by the High Commission
CardiffWestern Leisure Centre, Ely, Cardiff CF5 5HJ
AberdeenHilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR
ManchesterNigeria House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE
London56-57 Fleet Street, London EC4Y 1JU

Booking is through the JotForm link on the same page. The phase closes on 30 October 2026, so if you are reading this later, check the High Commission's website for a new phase rather than relying on these dates. For the Manchester session, see how to book the Manchester intervention.

Who can attend

The notice is addressed to the Nigerian community in the UK. It does not set a residence rule: nothing on the page says you must live in Wales to use Cardiff or in Scotland to use Aberdeen, and nothing limits the exercise to particular postcodes. What it does set is a list of items that all applicants attending must bring. In practice, that means anyone with a valid NIS application and a booked slot for that venue is within the published rules.

Some points the page does not settle:

  • Children. The intervention notice does not mention under-18s. The High Commission's general minors' rules apply to child applications: both parents' passport data pages (at least one Nigerian), a consent letter signed by both parents or court proof of sole custody, and the child's long birth certificate. If you plan to take a child to Cardiff or Aberdeen, ask the High Commission before you travel. Our guide on a child's passport when parents are separated covers the consent rules.
  • First-time applicants. The notice does not say first-time applications are excluded from the intervention. The High Commission's fresh-application list (current passport if a dual national, birth certificate showing parents, entry documents if born outside the UK) still applies.
  • Lost or damaged passports. The notice lists the £150 fee for these cases, so replacements are clearly expected at the sessions.

What to bring

  • The printed passport application form from the NIS portal
  • The NIS payment receipt and printed appointment slip
  • Your old passport booklet, mandatory for re-issue, renewal or change of data
  • The £20 High Commission charge by UK postal order or the e-payment portal, or £150 for lost, misplaced or damaged passports
  • A prepaid Royal Mail C4 Special Delivery self-addressed envelope
  • A copy of your NIN slip; the High Commission says the NIN must match your passport details in the correct order

If the dates do not suit you

If you cannot reach Cardiff or Aberdeen, there are two other published routes. An adult renewing an existing passport can use the contactless postal route, which the High Commission says is not available for under-18s or first-time applicants; see renewing a Nigerian passport by post. Otherwise, book a standard appointment through the NIS appointment system at the High Commission in London, where submissions are taken from 9:00 to 13:00.

After your appointment

Passports are posted back; the High Commission says there is no physical collection after biometrics. The NIS Service Level Agreement 2026 sets 21 days as its target for renewals and re-issues after enrolment and 42 days for fresh passports. Keep your Special Delivery tracking number.

Where Pryme fits

If you are planning a trip home once the passport arrives, a Pryme account opened from the UK holds GBP and NGN with local account details for each, and Send shows the fee before you approve a transfer to family.

Questions people ask

Can I attend the Cardiff passport intervention if I live in England?

The High Commission's notice sets no residence rule for any venue. It lists the items every applicant must bring, and booking is through its JotForm link.

Where is the Aberdeen Nigerian passport session?

The High Commission lists the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, for 6 to 30 October 2026.

Can children attend the passport intervention in Cardiff?

The intervention notice does not mention children. The High Commission's minors' rules (both parents' data pages, consent or sole-custody proof, long birth certificate) apply, so confirm with the High Commission before travelling.

Is the fee different outside London?

No. The notice lists the same £20 charge, or £150 for lost or damaged passports, for every venue, on top of the NIS fee paid online.
