Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Is Earnipay legit? How on-demand pay works

Earnipay lets workers draw pay they have already earned before payday, through their employer. How it works and how to check its standing.

The short answer

Earnipay is an earned wage access service: through an employer that has signed up, workers can withdraw part of the pay they have already earned before payday, and the amount is settled from their salary. We did not find an entry under the name Earnipay on the FCCPC's register of approved digital lenders when we searched in October 2026, so ask Earnipay and your employer which approval or licence covers the service.

Earnipay is not a loan app in the usual sense, and that is the source of most questions about it. Workers hear about it from HR, see a fee rather than an interest rate, and wonder whether it is a real service or a disguised loan. This guide explains how on-demand pay works, what to check about Earnipay's standing, and how to judge the cost.

How on-demand pay works

Earned wage access, sometimes called on-demand pay, rests on a simple idea: by the 15th of the month you have already worked half the month, so some of that pay is yours even though payday has not come. The usual set-up is:

  1. Your employer signs an agreement with the provider and shares attendance or salary data.
  2. You sign up through the provider's app, usually with your work email or staff ID.
  3. The app shows how much of your earned pay you can withdraw, often a share rather than all of it.
  4. You withdraw; a fee or charge is shown first.
  5. On payday, the employer deducts what you withdrew, and pays you the balance.

Because the money comes from wages you have earned and the employer settles it, there is usually no credit check of the kind a loan app runs. But it still reduces your take-home pay on payday, which is the point many users miss.

Is it a loan?

Whether earned wage access counts as lending depends on how it is structured and on how regulators treat it. If the provider advances its own money and is repaid from your salary, it looks a lot like a salary advance. If the employer funds the withdrawal, it is closer to an early payment of wages. Our explainer on salary advances in Nigeria compares the models. The FCCPC's 2025 consumer lending regulations cover "non-traditional" consumer lending, which is why the register question matters.

Earnipay's register status

When we searched the FCCPC's register of approved digital money lenders in October 2026, we did not find a row under the name "Earnipay". The register lists lenders by company name and is split over several tables, so we may have missed it, and a service funded by employers may fall outside the register. What to do:

  • Search the register yourself for "Earnipay"; see how to check FCCPC registration.
  • Ask Earnipay which company provides the money and which approval or licence it relies on.
  • Ask your HR team for a copy of the employer agreement or a summary of it.

Judging the cost

On-demand pay usually costs a fee per withdrawal rather than interest. Small fees on small amounts can still be expensive. As a labelled example: you withdraw ₦20,000 ten days before payday with an example fee of ₦500. That is 2.5% for ten days. Do it three times a month and you pay ₦1,500 on ₦60,000 of your own pay. Over a year, at ₦1,500 a month, that is ₦18,000. Compare that with the cost of the bill you are trying to pay late; the fee might be smaller than a late charge, or it might not. The planned guide on Earnipay's fees and limits looks at this in detail.

Verifying official channels

  1. Sign up only through the link or app name your employer gives you.
  2. Install from the official store listing and check the developer name.
  3. Use support contacts shown inside the app; see the planned Earnipay customer care guide.
  4. Never pay a fee in advance to activate access. Charges should appear on the withdrawal screen.

Questions to ask HR before signing up

  • Who funds the withdrawals: the employer or the provider?
  • What share of earned pay can be withdrawn, and how often?
  • What fee is charged per withdrawal, and who pays it?
  • What happens if I leave the job with an amount withdrawn?
  • Is my use of the service visible to my manager?

The answers tell you whether the service is closer to an early wage payment or to a salary advance, and how much your payday will shrink.

When on-demand pay helps and when it hurts

It helps when a single, unexpected cost lands before payday, such as a medical bill or a repair, and the fee is smaller than any late charge you would otherwise pay. It hurts when it becomes routine. Each early withdrawal makes the next payday smaller, which makes the next early withdrawal more likely. If you find yourself using it every month, the underlying gap is in the budget; our guide to lunch money before payday looks at the same pattern with small loans.

Where Pryme fits

If the reason for early pay is a regular bill, a Personal Assistant can help. Every Pryme Personal Account can set up an assistant (default name Eva) that prepares bill payments, savings and reminders; nothing moves until you approve it.

Questions people ask

Is Earnipay a loan app?

Earnipay provides earned wage access: you withdraw pay you have already earned, through your employer, and it is settled on payday. It works differently from a loan app.

Is Earnipay registered with FCCPC?

We did not find an entry under that name in October 2026. Search the register yourself and ask Earnipay which approval covers the service.

Can I use Earnipay without my employer?

On-demand pay normally needs your employer to have signed up, because it relies on salary data and payday deductions.

Does Earnipay charge interest?

Earned wage access usually charges a fee per withdrawal, shown before you confirm. Compare the fee with the size and timing of the withdrawal.
