Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Is FairMoney legit? Licence, FCCPC status and what to check

FairMoney lends through Fair Money Microfinance Bank, listed on the FCCPC register of approved digital lenders. How to confirm it and avoid imitators.

The short answer

Yes. FairMoney lends through Fair Money Microfinance Bank, which the FCCPC's register of approved digital money lenders listed with the FairMoney App when we checked in October 2026. As a microfinance bank it also needs a CBN licence, which you confirm on the CBN's list of licensed MFBs, and deposits there are insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit.

FairMoney is among the most downloaded finance apps in Nigeria, offering loans, accounts and savings. Size attracts imitators, so the right check has two parts: is FairMoney itself a legitimate, licensed lender, and is the app, page or person in front of you really FairMoney?

The two licences behind FairMoney

FCCPC approval
Register of approved digital money lenders, checked October 2026: Fair Money Microfinance Bank, FairMoney App, remark blank. The page's metadata shows it was last modified in March 2026.
CBN licence
As a microfinance bank, FairMoney MFB should appear on the CBN's list of licensed microfinance banks. Search for the full name and note its category.
NDIC cover
Deposits at a licensed MFB are insured up to the applicable limit.

These are different things. FCCPC approval concerns how a lender treats consumers in digital lending; the CBN licence is what allows a bank to take deposits and lend. Our guide on microfinance vs commercial banks explains the licence categories.

What the FCCPC rules require

The Digital, Electronic, Online or Non-Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations 2025 require approved lenders to:

  • disclose the full cost and terms before the borrower accepts
  • collect and use data lawfully, with the borrower's consent
  • recover debts without threats, shaming or contacting people who are not guarantors
  • handle complaints and keep records

The regulations were suspended for a period and resumed in July 2026, as reported at the time. If any lender breaks them, you can complain to the FCCPC; loan app harassment: your rights explains how.

Red flags that imitate FairMoney

Fake FairMoney activity usually follows one of these patterns:

  1. Upfront fee requests. Someone offers a large loan if you first pay a "processing" or "insurance" fee into a personal account.
  2. Look-alike apps. An app with a similar logo and name but a different developer on the store listing.
  3. Fake customer care. Social media accounts that reply to complaints and ask for your PIN, OTP or card details.
  4. Repayment diversion. Messages telling you to repay into a new account outside the app.

The real app shows charges in the offer and takes repayment through its own methods; see the planned guide to FairMoney repayment methods. Never share your PIN or one-time codes with anyone.

Checking the cost of an offer

FairMoney shows each offer's rate and total in the app. We have not quoted a rate because we could not verify one from FairMoney's own page in October 2026. Convert the offer to a total. As a labelled example: ₦120,000 over three months at an example 5% a month flat gives ₦6,000 a month, ₦18,000 in total, so ₦138,000 is repaid, ₦46,000 a month. If the app instead states an example yearly rate of 60% on reducing balance with equal principal repayments of ₦40,000, the monthly rate is 5% and interest is ₦6,000 + ₦4,000 + ₦2,000 = ₦12,000. Same headline, different cost; see APR vs flat fee and the planned FairMoney interest rate guide.

What to check first

  1. Search the FCCPC register for "Fair Money" and the CBN MFB list for the bank.
  2. Check the developer name on the official store listing.
  3. Read the total repayment and dates on the offer.
  4. Use only support channels inside the app.

If you have already been scammed

If you paid an upfront fee to someone posing as FairMoney, or shared a PIN or one-time code, act quickly:

  1. Contact your own bank immediately and ask it to try to stop or recall the transfer, giving the recipient account details.
  2. Change your PINs and passwords, and remove any unknown device from your banking apps.
  3. Report the impersonation to FairMoney through the app so it can warn others.
  4. Report the fraud to the police and keep a copy of the report for your bank.

Recovery is never certain, which is why the checks above matter more than the steps after a loss.

Closing a FairMoney account

Settle any outstanding loan first. Then request closure through the app's support channel and ask for your data to be deleted where the law permits; some records must be kept by law. The planned guide on deleting a FairMoney account lists the steps, and stopping a FairMoney debit covers card and account debits.

The same habits protect you with any lender: read the developer name before installing, keep one-time codes to yourself, and repay only through the methods listed inside the app. Fraud depends on a borrower acting in a hurry, so slowing down is itself a defence.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Financial Ltd is a technology company, not a lender. Loans on Spaces are lent by Solid Allianze MFB and spent only with Spaces merchants, with the full agreement shown for you to accept first.

Questions people ask

Is FairMoney approved by FCCPC?

Yes. The FCCPC register, checked in October 2026, lists Fair Money Microfinance Bank with the FairMoney App.

Is FairMoney licensed by CBN?

FairMoney lends through Fair Money Microfinance Bank. Confirm the MFB licence on the CBN's current list of licensed microfinance banks.

Is my money safe in FairMoney?

Deposits at a CBN-licensed microfinance bank are insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit.

How do I know a FairMoney agent is real?

FairMoney support works through the app's own channels. Anyone asking for a fee, your PIN or an OTP is not to be trusted.
