Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

FairMoney interest rate, loan limit and repayment explained

What has been published about FairMoney loan pricing, why your offer may differ, and how to turn a monthly rate into the total you will repay.

The short answer

FairMoney prices each loan individually and shows the interest, total repayable and repayment dates in the app before you accept. A comparison published in August 2022 reported monthly interest of about 10% to 30% and loans of ₦1,500 to ₦500,000, but those figures are historical; the offer screen in your FairMoney app is the current one.

FairMoney is one of the most widely used loan apps in Nigeria, and "how much interest does FairMoney charge" is one of the most common loan searches. There is no single answer, because FairMoney offers each borrower a rate based on their own profile. What we can do is show what has been published, how old it is, and how to work out the real cost of the offer you receive.

What has been published

A Nairacompare comparison dated 18 August 2022 reported FairMoney interest of about 10% to 30% a month and loan amounts of ₦1,500 to ₦500,000. It did not state the tenor range. We could not confirm a newer published range on FairMoney's own pages for this article. Lending prices in Nigeria have moved since 2022, so use the old range only as a sense of scale.

  • The range is wide because FairMoney prices risk borrower by borrower.
  • New users typically see smaller amounts and higher rates than repeat borrowers with clean records.
  • The binding figures are the amount, interest, total and dates on your offer screen.

Why two people get different prices

A loan app's price is its estimate of the risk that you will not repay, plus its own costs. Two people asking for ₦50,000 on the same day can see very different offers because the app sees different histories. Things that tend to lead to better pricing over time include several loans repaid on time, a clean credit bureau file, steady income into the account you use for repayment, and no other loan apps open at once. Things that push the price up include a recent late payment, a thin history and frequent borrowing. None of this is published as a formula by FairMoney, but it is how risk-based pricing works across lenders.

Watch for deductions from the payout

If any fee is taken from the amount paid to you, compare the total repayable with what you actually received, not with the loan amount. On a ₦60,000 loan with a ₦3,000 deduction, you receive ₦57,000; every naira of interest is then a larger share of the money you can use.

Reading the offer

Amount
What you will receive in your account.
Interest
The charge, and whether it is stated per month or for the whole loan.
Tenor
How many instalments and over how long.
Total repayable
The sum of all instalments. This is the number to compare.
Instalment dates
Check each against your payday.
Late charges
What is added if you miss a date, and from when.

Worked example: monthly rate into total cost

ItemExample
Amount₦60,000
Rate12% a month, flat
Tenor3 months, 3 equal instalments
Interest (₦60,000 × 12% × 3)₦21,600
Total repayable₦81,600
Each instalment₦27,200
Simple yearly equivalent (12% × 12)144%

If the same ₦60,000 were borrowed for only one month at 12%, the interest would be ₦7,200 and the total ₦67,200. Borrowing for longer lowers each instalment but adds naira to the total. Because a flat rate charges interest on the full amount even after you have repaid part of it, the effective rate is higher than the monthly figure suggests. Our APR vs flat fee explainer shows how to work it out.

How FairMoney limits move

Limits usually start low and grow with on-time repayment. Late payments, other open loans and a weak credit bureau record tend to hold them back. FairMoney does not publish a limit table that we could verify. Our guide on how to increase your FairMoney loan limit goes through what helps and what does not.

A useful habit is to divide the total repayable by the amount received before you accept. In the three-month example that is ₦81,600 ÷ ₦60,000, or 1.36: for every naira you get, you pay back ₦1.36. That one ratio lets you compare any two offers quickly, whatever way their rates are written.

Repaying on time

Most of the cost problems with loan apps come from late payment rather than the headline rate. A missed instalment can add charges, be reported to credit bureaus, and lead to smaller, dearer offers next time from every lender. Practical steps:

  1. Choose instalment dates that fall just after your payday where the app allows.
  2. Repay a day or two early so bank delays do not make you late.
  3. If you see trouble coming, contact FairMoney before the date, in writing.
  4. Keep proof of each payment.

If you are being threatened or your contacts are being messaged, read your rights against loan app harassment. To compare FairMoney with another lender that publishes its range, see FairMoney vs Carbon.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme is not a cash-loan app. Customers may be offered Loans on Spaces by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank for spending with Spaces merchants; the cost and repayment date are shown before acceptance. See Loans on Spaces.

Questions people ask

What is FairMoney interest rate per month?

FairMoney prices each loan individually. A 2022 comparison reported about 10% to 30% a month, but your current rate is the one on your offer screen.

What is the maximum FairMoney loan?

A 2022 comparison reported up to ₦500,000. The amount offered to you depends on your profile and history.

How long do I have to repay FairMoney?

The number of instalments and each due date are shown on your offer before you accept.

Why is FairMoney interest high for me?

New borrowers and those with limited or mixed credit records are usually offered higher rates. On-time repayment over several loans tends to improve offers.
