Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Is 9Credit legit? Owner and FCCPC status

9Credit is run by OTP Internet Technology, which was on the FCCPC digital lender list in October 2026. What that means and how to check.

The short answer

Yes, on the record we checked: the FCCPC's digital money lender list, read in October 2026, includes OTP Internet Technology for the 9Credit and NCash apps, and a January 2026 report of the government's approved loan apps list also named 9Credit. A listing shows the company is registered with the consumer protection regulator; it is not a rating of its prices or conduct, so check the register again before you borrow.

9Credit is a short-term loan app used in Nigeria. "Is it legit?" usually means three questions: is it allowed to lend, who is behind it, and is the app on your phone the real one. This guide answers each from the public record as it stood in October 2026, and explains how to verify it yourself on the day you borrow.

Who owns 9Credit

On the FCCPC's registration of digital money lenders page, entry 13 is OTP Internet Technology, listed for the 9Credit and NCash apps. That is the company name to look for when you check the app's developer details and its loan agreement. A Legit.ng report published on 9 January 2026, summarising the government's list of approved loan apps, listed the same pairing: "9Credit, NCash – OTP Internet Technology".

What an FCCPC listing does and does not mean

Nigeria's Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission registers digital money lenders that are not banks. Its registration page links the Digital, Electronic, Online or Non-Traditional (DEON) Consumer Lending Regulations 2025 and the accompanying guidelines, and states that registration of lending apps has resumed under its framework.

A listing tells youA listing does not tell you
The company has been registered or approved by the FCCPCWhether the approval is conditional or full: the remark column on the page was blank when we read it
Which apps the company is approved to runWhether the price of a loan is reasonable for you
That the lender is under the FCCPC's rules on disclosure and debt collectionWhether every complaint against it has been resolved

The list has changed during 2026. Press reports have described the FCCPC both granting full approval to more lenders and revoking conditional approvals from others. Enforcement status has also shifted during the year, so check the FCCPC page for the current position rather than relying on any article, including this one.

How to check you have the real 9Credit app

  1. Install only from the official Google Play or Apple App Store listing, not from a link sent by message.
  2. Open the listing's developer details and check the company matches OTP Internet Technology, or that the app names that company in its terms.
  3. Read the loan agreement in the app before accepting; it should name the lender and show the total cost in naira.
  4. Repay only through the methods shown inside the app. Do not pay into a personal account given by someone who calls you.
  5. Search the FCCPC page for the company name on the day you borrow. Our guide on checking a loan app with the FCCPC shows the steps.

Your rights as a borrower

Being registered places a lender under the FCCPC's consumer lending rules. In general terms those rules require clear disclosure of the cost before you borrow and limit how lenders may pursue a debt, including restrictions on contacting people other than the borrower and on shaming. If a lender, or anyone claiming to collect for it, contacts your family or colleagues, threatens you or publishes your details, keep records and report it. Read loan app harassment: your rights, and see 9Credit complaints and stopping debits for the lender's own channels.

Warning signs of a fake 9Credit

Scammers often borrow the names of real lenders. Treat any of the following as a reason to stop:

  • You are asked to pay a "processing", "insurance" or "activation" fee before a loan is paid out.
  • Someone contacts you on WhatsApp or by phone offering a 9Credit loan you did not apply for.
  • The app was installed from a link or APK file rather than an official app store.
  • Repayment is requested into a personal account rather than through the app's own channels.
  • The agreement does not name the lending company or show the total you will repay.

A registered lender pays the loan first and collects repayment afterwards. Any request for money before you receive a loan is the clearest sign that you are not dealing with 9Credit at all.

If you have already paid a scammer, report it to your bank at once and keep the transaction details; the faster the bank is told, the better the chance of stopping the funds.

Before you borrow

  • Read the total repayable and due date, not just the amount offered. The 9Credit rate and limit guide explains how to cost it.
  • Grant only the permissions a loan needs; refuse contacts and photos access where you can.
  • Borrow an amount one month's income can repay without another loan.

Where Pryme fits

For spending with merchants, Loans on Spaces is lent by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank, which the CBN licenses, and can be used only inside Spaces. The agreement is shown in full for you to accept before anything is drawn. See Spaces.
