Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

9Credit interest rate, limit and repayment explained

How 9Credit shows its interest, fees, limits and repayment dates, how to turn its figures into a total cost, and what late repayment can lead to.

The short answer

9Credit shows the interest, any fees, your limit and the repayment date in the app when it offers you a loan; it does not publish one rate that applies to everyone, and limits typically start small and can rise with on-time repayment. The figure to compare is the total repayment against the amount you actually receive, for the number of days you hold it. We could not verify a current published rate, so read the offer screen before accepting.

How 9Credit states its cost

Loan apps in Nigeria usually describe cost in one of three ways: a flat fee or interest for the whole loan term, a daily rate, or a monthly rate. Some also show an annual percentage rate (APR) because FCCPC rules expect lenders to disclose the full cost clearly. 9Credit's offer screen shows the amount, the charges and the date the money is due. Write those down before you accept; the screen is the authority, not what friends were charged.

Because we could not find a current, dated rate published by 9Credit itself, this guide does not state one. If you see a figure online without a date and source, treat it as out of date. Check who runs the app and whether it is on the register in Is 9Credit legit? Owner and FCCPC status.

Limits and how they change

Most app lenders begin with a small first limit and offer more after loans are repaid on time. The limit you see depends on the data you consent to share, your BVN record, bureau checks and how you repaid before. A limit falls or disappears after late payment. How to grow your credit limit covers what tends to help.

Working out the total cost

Three numbers decide the real cost: what you receive, what you repay and how many days you hold the money. Use this method on any 9Credit offer.

  1. Cost = total repayment minus amount received.
  2. Cost for the term (%) = cost divided by amount received, times 100.
  3. Rough annual figure = term cost (%) times 365, divided by the number of days.

Worked example (illustrative figures only)

ItemExample
Amount offered₦50,000
Charge for 30 days (example 15%)₦7,500
Total repayment₦57,500
Term cost15% for 30 days
Rough annual figure (15% × 365 ÷ 30)about 182.5%

If the same charge were taken from the amount sent to you, so you received ₦42,500 and repaid ₦50,000, the term cost would be ₦7,500 ÷ ₦42,500, about 17.6%, higher than it looks. That is why you compare against the amount received. APR vs flat fee explains the difference.

Daily and monthly rates compared

Daily rate
Charged per day the loan is outstanding; 1% a day for 30 days is 30% for the month
Monthly rate
Charged per month; check whether on the full amount or the reducing balance
Flat fee
One charge for the term; repaying early may not reduce it
APR
Annualised cost including fees; the best single figure for comparing lenders

What to compare across apps

Two apps can show the same headline rate and very different totals. Line up offers on the same basis before choosing.

CheckWhy it matters
Amount receivedFees taken upfront reduce what you actually get
Total repaymentThe real number you owe
Days to repayA shorter term with the same charge costs more per year
Late chargesCan exceed the original cost if you miss the date
Register statusApproved lenders are bound by FCCPC conduct rules

Take the offer with the lowest total cost against the amount received, for a term you can meet. If none fits, waiting is often cheaper than borrowing.

Repayment and late payment

9Credit collects on the due date from the card or account you linked, or you pay from the app. Late payment typically brings extra charges, a lower limit and a report to credit bureaus. If you cannot pay, contact support before the date. Approved lenders must follow FCCPC rules on fair collection; if you face threats or messages to your contacts, see your rights on loan app harassment and 9Credit customer care and complaints.

Habits that keep the cost down

  • Borrow only the amount you need, even if a higher limit is offered.
  • Pick the shortest tenor you can repay comfortably; with daily or monthly rates, each extra day or month costs more.
  • Repay early only if the app reduces the charge; with a flat fee, early repayment may not save money.
  • Avoid rolling one app loan into another.
  • Keep a record of every offer screen and repayment.

If you regularly need a loan app before payday, look at the pattern behind it. A small buffer in savings, even a few thousand naira a month, can replace a costly short loan over time.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not lend cash. For merchant purchases, Pryme customers may be offered Loans on Spaces from Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank; the cost is shown in the app before you accept, and spending is limited to Spaces.

Questions people ask

What is 9Credit interest rate?

9Credit shows your rate and charges on the offer screen. We could not verify a current published rate, so read the offer and work out the total cost against what you receive.

How much can I borrow on 9Credit?

First limits are usually small and may rise with on-time repayment. Your limit is shown in the app.

How do I calculate the APR on a loan app?

Divide the cost by the amount received, then multiply by 365 and divide by the number of days in the term.

What happens if I repay 9Credit late?

Expect extra charges, a lower limit and a credit bureau report. Contact support before the due date if you cannot pay.
