Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Is Branch loan app legit in Nigeria? Licence and register check

Branch is on the FCCPC's register of approved digital lenders under Branch International Financial Limited. How to check it and spot fake copies.

The short answer

Yes. The FCCPC's register of approved digital money lenders, checked in October 2026, lists Branch International Financial Limited with the Branch Mobile App. That approval covers digital consumer lending; it is not a bank licence, and you should still confirm you have the real app, because fake listings use the Branch name.

Branch is one of the longest-running loan apps in Nigeria and is part of Branch International, a company that operates in several countries. Its size makes it a target for copycat apps and fake customer care accounts, so the useful question is not only whether Branch is legitimate but whether the app on your phone is the real one.

Branch's Nigerian entity and register status

The Nigerian company that appears on the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission's register is:

Registered company
Branch International Financial Limited
App on register
Branch Mobile App
Remark
Blank when checked in October 2026
Register last modified
March 2026, per the page's metadata

The register is a long page with several tables. Search it yourself for "Branch" and compare the company name with the one in the app's terms and conditions. Our guide to checking FCCPC registration explains each step.

What FCCPC approval does and does not cover

Under the FCCPC's 2025 consumer lending regulations, which resumed in July 2026 after a period of suspension, approved lenders must disclose costs clearly, use your data lawfully and recover debts without harassment. Approval is about how a lender treats consumers. It is not:

  • a CBN licence to take deposits
  • a guarantee that a loan is affordable for you
  • a promise that every application gets an offer

If Branch also provides savings or account features, ask which licensed institution holds that money, and check that institution's name on the CBN's lists.

Common complaints

Public reviews of Branch tend to raise the same themes as other large apps: declined applications without a detailed reason, limits that feel low, and reminder messages near the due date. Some complaints concern fraudsters posing as Branch staff. We have not verified individual reviews. Apply three tests:

  1. Was the cost shown before the loan was accepted? If so, a complaint about price is about choice, not conduct.
  2. Did the lender or someone using its name contact third parties? That would be a conduct issue to report; see your rights against loan app harassment.
  3. Was money sent to a personal account on a stranger's instruction? That is usually a scam, not the lender.

How to tell the real app from clones

  • Install only from the official Play Store or App Store page and check the developer name and download count.
  • Never pay an upfront fee to release a loan. A real lender deducts charges as shown in the offer, or adds them to repayment.
  • Use only the contact details shown inside the app or on Branch's official website.
  • Repay only through the methods inside the app; covered in the planned guide to Branch repayment methods.

Turning an offer into a total

Branch shows each offer's cost in the app; we are not quoting a rate we could not verify. As a labelled example, ₦40,000 over 28 days with an example total fee and interest of ₦4,800 means repaying ₦44,800. That is 12% for four weeks; repeated thirteen times a year, it would add up to well over 100% a year in simple terms. Doing this sum for every offer is the best defence against expensive borrowing. For a detailed look, see Branch's interest rate.

What Branch looks at before an offer

Branch, like other digital lenders, decides from data rather than a branch interview. That usually includes your identity and BVN, your phone and device information, your history with the app, and your record with the credit bureaus. A first offer is often small and can grow with on-time repayment, but no lender owes you a larger limit. See how credit bureaus work for the bureau side and the planned guide on Branch limit increases.

If you cannot repay on time

Contact the lender before the due date rather than after. Ask whether the date can be moved, what late charges apply and how they are calculated. Get any new arrangement in writing in the app. Missing a payment can be reported to credit bureaus and makes future borrowing harder everywhere, not only with Branch. What a lender may not do, under the FCCPC rules, is threaten you, publish your details or message your contacts. If that happens, keep the evidence and report it.

If you are repaying one loan app with another, stop and list every loan, its due date and its total. Borrowing in a cycle increases the cost each month and rarely ends by itself.

One more check is worth the minute it takes: look at the company name on the receipt or repayment confirmation after your first loan. It should match Branch International Financial Limited, the name on the register. A mismatch on a payment record is a reason to stop and ask questions before you borrow again.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not offer cash loans. Loans on Spaces, lent by Solid Allianze MFB, can be spent only with merchants in Spaces and are accepted only after you have read the amount, cost and repayment date.

Questions people ask

Is Branch loan app approved by FCCPC?

Yes. The FCCPC register, checked in October 2026, lists Branch International Financial Limited with the Branch Mobile App.

Is Branch a Nigerian company?

Branch International operates in several countries; its Nigerian registered lender is Branch International Financial Limited, per the FCCPC register.

Can Branch loan app be trusted?

It is an approved digital lender. Check you have the official app, read every offer's total cost, and report any harassment to the FCCPC.

Why does a fake Branch agent ask me to pay a fee?

Real lenders do not ask for an upfront fee to release a loan. A request to pay a fee into a personal account is a sign of fraud.
