Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.

BruceCareYour competitor down the road sells the same thing you sell. The difference is who walks in. We put money in people’s hands that can only be spent in businesses like yours — and then we point them at you.
You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Town unions and age-grade groups in the US can stay informal, incorporate, or seek 501(c)(3) status. What each means for dues, bank accounts and liability.
A Nigerian hometown association in the US can stay an informal unincorporated group, incorporate as a state nonprofit, or go further and seek 501(c)(3) recognition. Informal is cheapest but leaves officers personally exposed and makes banking harder; incorporating creates a legal person that can hold an account and sign contracts; 501(c)(3) only fits if the group's purpose is charitable rather than social.
Town unions, age grades, women's wings and state indigene associations are some of the oldest Nigerian institutions in the US. They collect monthly dues, run launches and burial support, and send money home for projects. Most began as a WhatsApp group and a treasurer's personal account. As the money grows, the question of structure stops being academic.
| Informal group | State nonprofit corporation | Nonprofit with 501(c)(3) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Legal person | No; members and officers act personally | Yes | Yes |
| Bank account in group name | Hard; banks usually want formation papers and an EIN | Yes, with articles, EIN and board resolution | Yes |
| Officer liability | Officers may carry debts personally | Generally limited to the corporation | Generally limited |
| Upkeep | Minutes and accounts only | State annual report and board rules | Plus IRS Form 990 series and stricter rules on private benefit |
| Donor tax receipts | No | No, unless exempt and a charity | Yes, for qualifying gifts |
State fees and annual-report rules differ, so check your Secretary of State before choosing. The IRS position on the informal option is clear in one respect: its Form 1023-EZ instructions (Rev. 01/2025) say loosely affiliated groups of individuals are not eligible to apply using that form. An association has to become an organised entity before it can seek exemption at all.
This is the question that decides whether 501(c)(3) is even on the table. The IRS requires a 501(c)(3) organising document to limit the purposes to those in section 501(c)(3) and to dedicate the assets permanently to them. A group whose main activities are members' parties, condolence payouts to members' families and social events is serving its members. A group that builds a public borehole in the home town or funds scholarships open to any pupil in the community has a charitable purpose.
Many associations do both. A common pattern is to keep the social association as it is and form a separate charity for the projects at home, with its own board, bank account and records. That keeps members' welfare money away from rules that apply to charitable assets. See our step-by-step guide to forming a 501(c)(3) for that second entity.
Most disputes in associations are about money, not structure. These controls work for an informal group and an incorporated one alike:
Most town unions at home are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as incorporated trustees, or should be. The CAC fee schedule (Gazette, 29 May 2025) lists ₦40,000 for incorporated trustees registration, and incorporated trustees file bi-annual statements of affairs. If your US branch sends money to a registered body, ask for its CAC certificate and the bank account in that name. Our Nigeria library explains how incorporated trustees open a bank account.
These are general patterns, not legal advice. A local nonprofit lawyer can confirm what your state requires.
Whatever the structure, write down the rules members already follow: who may join, the monthly dues, what welfare support is paid and when, how officers are elected and for how long, who signs payments, and what happens to the money if the association winds up. Many disputes in Nigerian associations abroad come from rules that were only ever spoken. A written constitution adopted at a general meeting, with the minutes kept, is also what a bank or a state filing office will ask to see once you incorporate.
An incorporated association can open a Pryme Business Account that holds dollars and naira, so dues collected in the US and payments to the project in Nigeria sit in one ledger. Bulk payouts handle many naira payments at once, such as condolence support to several families, and the app shows the rate and the fee before anyone approves. If you need help choosing between routes, read how a fiscal sponsor works.
No law forces an informal social group to incorporate, but without a legal entity the officers act personally and opening a bank account in the group's name is difficult. Check your state's rules on nonprofit corporations.
Not as it stands. The IRS says loosely affiliated groups of individuals are not eligible for Form 1023-EZ; the group must first form an entity with the required purpose and dissolution clauses.
Better not. Keep welfare dues and project funds in separate accounts or clearly separated ledgers, because members gave for different purposes.
To the registered body running the project, ideally incorporated trustees registered with CAC, in an account in that body's name, with two approvers on your side.
