Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

How to send funeral contributions to Nigeria from Ghana

Collect from relatives in Ghana into one account, send one transfer to the family's funeral account in Nigeria and keep a clear list of who gave what.

The short answer

Agree one collector in Ghana and one receiving account in Nigeria, ideally an account named for or controlled by the family's funeral committee. Relatives in Ghana pay the collector, who keeps a dated list of every contribution, then sends one naira transfer with a clear narration and shares the confirmation and the list with the family. One transfer means one fee and one exchange margin, and a written list avoids disputes later.

Why one collector and one account

When a parent or elder dies, contributions arrive from everywhere: siblings in Accra and Kumasi, cousins in Lagos, friends abroad. If each person sends separately to whoever they know at home, money is spread across several personal accounts and nobody can say who gave what. A simple structure prevents that.

  1. Receiving account in Nigeria: the family or funeral committee chooses one account. An account in the name of the eldest child or the committee treasurer is common; the key is that everyone agrees whose it is.
  2. Collector in Ghana: one trusted person gathers contributions from relatives and friends in Ghana.
  3. A shared record: a list both sides can see.

Collecting in Ghana

Ask contributors to pay the collector by bank transfer or mobile money, not cash, so each payment has a record. The collector keeps a list with each name, amount in cedis, date and reference. Close the collection on a fixed date before the funeral so one transfer can go.

NameAmountDateMethod/ref
Example: Ngozi O.GH₵1,0003 NovMoMo ref 4471
Example: Tunde A.GH₵5004 NovBank ref 220
Example: Ama and KwesiGH₵3005 NovCash, receipt given
TotalGH₵1,800

If someone pays cash, give a written receipt. It protects the collector as much as the contributor.

Sending to Nigeria

Send one transfer to the family account in naira. Before you do, confirm the account name with the treasurer by phone; Nigerian bank transfers over NIBSS Instant Payment include a name enquiry, so check that the name shown matches. Use a narration such as 'Burial of late Chief J. Okafor, Ghana contributions'.

What it costs

  • Your provider's transfer fee and its margin on the cedi-naira rate. One large transfer usually costs less than many small ones. See the cedi-naira margin.
  • Nigerian stamp duty of ₦50 on electronic transfers of ₦10,000 or more, deducted from the sender from 1 January 2026 (Techeconomy).
  • Mobile money fees if you collected on MoMo and need to move it to a bank first; see MoMo to a Nigerian bank account.

Example (illustration only): GH₵1,800 collected. Provider fee GH₵25, rate ₦100 per cedi. You send GH₵1,775 after the fee, and the family receives ₦177,500. Tell contributors the total in cedis and the naira that arrived, so everyone sees the fee. Rates are invented.

Keeping the record straight

  • Send the treasurer the transfer confirmation and the full contributor list the same day.
  • Ask the treasurer to confirm receipt in writing, even a WhatsApp message.
  • Post a short summary in the family group: total collected in Ghana, fee, naira received.
  • Keep the list after the funeral; families often refer back to it for the next ceremony or thank-you messages.
  • If anyone sends late, forward it as a second transfer with its own list, rather than mixing it into another payment.

Agree the rules early

Funerals bring grief and strong feelings about money. A short message in the family group at the start avoids most arguments:

  • Who the collector in Ghana is, and the account or MoMo number to pay.
  • Whose account in Nigeria receives the money, and who on the committee can confirm receipt.
  • The closing date for the Ghana collection.
  • Whether contributions are a fixed levy per person or voluntary amounts.
  • That the list of contributors will be shared with the family.

If the committee publishes a budget for the burial, ask for a copy so contributors can see what the money pays for.

When the family needs money before the collection closes

Mortuary, hospital and early ceremony costs sometimes fall due before contributions are in. One person may advance the money and be repaid from the collection. Write that down in the list too, with the date and amount, so the advance is not mistaken for a contribution. If the hospital still holds a bill, see paying a hospital bill from Ghana.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Personal Account opened from Ghana holds naira with dollars, pounds and euros. The collector can send naira to the family account; the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve. A verifiable statement or receipt through VerifyDoc.ai gives the family a payment record they can check is genuine and unaltered.

Questions people ask

How do I send funeral money to Nigeria from Ghana?

Collect from relatives into one account in Ghana, then send one naira transfer to the agreed family account, with the confirmation and contributor list shared.

Should each relative send separately?

It is better to pool. One transfer means one fee and one exchange margin, and one record.

How do I keep a record of funeral contributions?

List each contributor's name, amount, date and payment reference, and share it with the family treasurer with the transfer confirmation.

Is there a charge in Nigeria on funeral transfers?

Electronic transfers of ₦10,000 or more carry a ₦50 stamp duty from 1 January 2026, deducted from the sender, per Techeconomy.
