Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals and follows up. Nothing leaves your account without your approval.
Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

No card, no OTP, nothing for the buyer to type in. They transfer from the bank app they already use, and the money lands in the same account your agents are running — already matched to the order, already in your books.
We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Why a US company usually issues no 1099 to a contractor in Nigeria, when it does (US citizens and green card holders), and the file to keep instead.
Usually not. Form 1099-NEC is for payments to US persons; for a Nigerian contractor who is not a US person and does the work in Nigeria, the IRS points foreign payees to the Form 1042-S regime instead, and pay for work done outside the US is generally not US-source income. Collect a Form W-8BEN (or W-8BEN-E for a company) and keep the contract, invoices and proof of where the work was done.
Form 1099-NEC reports payments for services to non-employees. The IRS lists the conditions on its independent contractor page (reviewed 22 May 2026): the payee is not your employee, the payment is for services in the course of your trade or business, the payee is an individual, partnership or estate (and some corporations), and payments reach the reporting threshold. The 1099 instructions set that threshold at $2,000 of nonemployee compensation for tax years beginning after 2025, possibly indexed for inflation from 2027.
The same instructions send payments to nonresident aliens to a different form: Form 1042-S. That is the key line for a US company paying a developer, designer or writer in Lagos. If the contractor is a foreign person, the 1099 regime is not the one that applies.
This is the question to answer first, because living in Nigeria does not make someone foreign for US tax.
| Contractor | US person? | Form to collect | Year-end reporting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nigerian citizen living in Nigeria, no green card | No | W-8BEN | No 1099; 1042-S only if US-source income was paid |
| Nigerian company (Ltd) or business name | No | W-8BEN-E | No 1099; 1042-S only if US-source |
| US citizen living in Lagos (including dual Nigerian-US citizens) | Yes | W-9 | 1099-NEC if over the threshold |
| Green card holder living in Lagos | Generally yes while the card is held | W-9 | 1099-NEC if over the threshold |
Form W-9 is how a US person gives you their correct TIN so you can file information returns (IRS, About Form W-9). Form W-8BEN is the certificate of foreign status of the beneficial owner for individuals, given to the payer, not to the IRS (About Form W-8BEN, reviewed 2 Oct 2026); W-8BEN-E does the same job for entities. A Nigerian contractor who ticks "US citizen" on your onboarding form needs a W-9, and a 1099-NEC if paid over the threshold, wherever they live.
US withholding on foreign persons is built around US-source income. Publication 515 (2026) says most types of US-source income received by a foreign person are subject to US tax of 30%, and the Form 1042-S instructions describe reportable amounts as amounts from US sources. Pay for personal services is generally sourced where the work is physically performed, and Publication 515 has a dedicated section on services performed outside the United States. So a Nigerian contractor who works only from Nigeria is usually paid foreign-source income: no 30% withholding and, in that case, no 1042-S. Our companion guide covers when Form 1042-S does apply.
Two situations change the answer: the contractor travels to the US and does part of the work there, or you pay for something other than services, such as a licence to use their software, music or images in the US.
No form at year end does not mean no paperwork. The IRS records page (reviewed 3 Aug 2026) says expense records can include cancelled cheques or proof of electronic transfer, account statements and invoices. For each foreign contractor, keep:
This file is what supports the deduction on your return if the IRS asks. It also answers your auditor. More on this in records to keep for Nigerian contractors and paying a Nigerian contractor with a W-8BEN.
Example only. A Texas LLC pays three contractors in 2026: Ada, a Nigerian citizen in Lagos, $24,000; Tunde, a US green card holder living in Abuja, $6,000; and a Lagos design firm, $9,000. Ada gives a W-8BEN and works only from Lagos: no 1099, and no 1042-S. Tunde is a US person: W-9, and a 1099-NEC because $6,000 is above $2,000. The design firm gives a W-8BEN-E: no 1099. If the LLC files 10 or more information returns in total it must e-file; the IRS says IRIS becomes the sole platform from the 2027 filing season.
Nigerian contractors are often asked for a 1099 by US clients who are unsure of the rules, and some assume they owe US tax because a US company pays them. A short onboarding note helps: explain that you will not issue a 1099 because they are a foreign person working outside the US, that you hold their W-8BEN, and that their tax on the income is a Nigerian matter for them and their adviser. If they plan to visit the US for the work, ask them to tell you before they travel, because those days can change the US position.
A Pryme Business Account can pay contractors in naira or dollars with bulk payouts, and each payment can carry a verifiable receipt through our partnership with VerifyDoc.ai (receipts), useful for the file above.
Not if the contractor is not a US person. The IRS directs payments to nonresident aliens to Form 1042-S, and pay for work done entirely in Nigeria is generally not US-source. Collect a W-8BEN instead.
Form W-8BEN for an individual, or W-8BEN-E for a Nigerian company. It goes to the payer, not to the IRS.
Then they are a US person wherever they live. Get a Form W-9 and file a 1099-NEC if payments for the year reach the threshold, $2,000 for tax years beginning after 2025.
