Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Exhibiting Nigerian food products at Gulfood in Dubai

Gulfood 2027 runs 15 to 19 March in Dubai. Booking a stand, bringing samples in under temporary admission, Nigerian export papers and follow-up.

The short answer

Gulfood 2027 runs from 15 to 19 March 2027 in Dubai, and stands are booked through the organiser's exhibitor enquiry form. Nigerian exporters bringing samples need Nigerian export papers (Form NCX for non-commercial shipments, NAFDAC or NAQS certificates by product), while Dubai Customs charges duty on samples unless they enter under temporary admission or an ATA carnet.

Gulfood is one of the largest food trade shows in the world, and for a Nigerian brand of spices, snacks, palm oil, cassava flour or drinks it is a way to meet Gulf importers and distributors in one week. The cost and the paperwork are both real. This guide covers what the organiser publishes, how to get samples into the UAE, the Nigerian side, and how to turn conversations into orders.

What the organiser says

The official site lists Gulfood 2027 for 15 to 19 March 2027, at Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Exhibition Centre (the page header also mentions Expo City, so confirm the halls when you book). Hours are 10:00 to 18:00, closing at 17:00 on the last day. The organiser describes 8,500+ exhibitors, 1.5 million+ products and 195 countries, across sourcing sectors such as dairy, fresh produce, oils, beverages, meat and grains.

  • Stands are requested through the "Book Your Stand" exhibitor enquiry form. No stand prices are published; you receive a quote.
  • The organiser warns that only emails from @ind-group.ae, @ind-group.co and @dwtc.com are authorised, and that it does not sell visitor or exhibitor lists. Treat any other "Gulfood" sales email as a likely scam.
  • The page does not list a Nigeria pavilion. Ask the NEPC or your trade association whether a national pavilion is planned; sharing a pavilion can cut cost.

Budget lines to plan for

With no official price list, plan the budget by line and get quotes for each:

Cost lineWho quotes it
Stand space or shell schemeGulfood organiser
Stand build and furnitureContractor approved by the venue
Sample shipping (air)Freight forwarder; air is charged on the higher of actual and volumetric weight
UAE customs clearance of samplesClearing agent; duty or a refundable deposit
Flights, visas, hotelTravel agent or direct; book early for show week
Brochures, price lists, translationPrinter and translator, if buyers ask for Arabic

For air samples, Maersk explains that chargeable weight is the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight, using length x width x height in centimetres divided by 6,000 under the IATA standard (some carriers use 5,000). A light but bulky carton of puff-puff mix can cost more than its weight suggests.

Getting samples into the UAE

Dubai Customs offers temporary admission for exhibition goods. Its FAQ says the entity must hold a Customs business code tied to a mainland licence, state the purpose on the declaration, and pay a deposit equal to the customs duty, refunded when the goods are re-exported within the permitted period. Goods under an ATA carnet need no deposit; the permitted period is the shorter of six months or the carnet's validity, and the Customer Guide says the UAE accepts carnets for exhibition goods only.

Food samples are usually eaten, given away or thrown out, not re-exported, so in practice expect to pay the 5% of CIF duty on them (plus import VAT) and treat the deposit route as for display items that will go home. The exhibition's appointed freight forwarder can usually handle both. Food also needs to meet UAE food safety requirements; ask the forwarder what product permits it needs to release your samples.

The Nigerian side

  1. Form NCX. The Nigeria Trade Information Portal lists Form NCX for non-commercial exports such as samples, alongside Form NXP for commercial ones.
  2. NAFDAC. NAFDAC's export guideline covers health certificates for processed and semi-processed food and lists documents including registration, NXP forms, NEPC registration and a sample. It gives an indicative total of 28 working days for the full process, so start early.
  3. NAQS. Raw agricultural samples (beans, sesame, dried leaves) need a phytosanitary certificate after inspection.
  4. Labels. Use the labels you would use for sale in the Gulf. See our guide to Arabic labelling for Nigerian food.

A working timeline

  • Six months before: submit the enquiry form, agree the stand quote, and ask the NEPC or your association about a shared pavilion.
  • Three months before: start NAFDAC and NAQS certificates for samples, book flights and hotel, and choose the forwarder.
  • Six weeks before: print price lists, confirm the stand build, and send sample details to the forwarder so it can prepare the UAE entry.
  • Two weeks before: ship samples by air with Form NCX and the certificates, and keep copies in your hand luggage.
  • Show week: log every contact with the product they asked about and the next step.

After the show

Most orders come weeks later. Within a few days, send every serious contact a price list with an Incoterm (FOB Lagos or CFR Jebel Ali, for example), minimum order quantity, lead time and payment terms. Ask importers how they register products with the UAE authorities and which documents they will need from you. Then work through the export steps in NXP and NEPC for UAE-bound goods.

Where Pryme fits

Buyers met at Gulfood may want to pay in dollars. A Pryme Business account has USD, GBP, EUR and NGN details, Invoicing sends invoices in the currency you choose, and the Sales agent can draft follow-ups to your show contacts for you to approve.
