Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Riding for delivery apps: Kwik, Glovo and Chowdeck riders

What delivery riders earn on Nigerian apps as published, what onboarding involves, the costs you carry, and how to check a platform is still active.

The short answer

Delivery apps such as Chowdeck and Glovo pay riders per completed delivery, with distance counted; Chowdeck's CEO said in September 2026 that its riders average ₦100,000 a week, before their own costs. Before signing up with any platform, including Kwik or Gokada, check its current rider page or app, because platforms in this market change models or cities often.

Which platforms are active

Rider work in Nigerian cities is spread across food, grocery and parcel delivery apps. As at October 2026, the sources we checked support the following:

  • Chowdeck. Its chief executive, Femi Aluko, told Channels Television that riders earn an average of ₦100,000 a week and the best earn much more, as Legit.ng reported on 14 September 2026.
  • Glovo. TechCabal reported in May 2025 that Glovo had about 3,000 vendors and 2,000 active riders in Nigeria, and that it was acquired by Delivery Hero in 2022.
  • Kwik and Gokada. Both have been parcel and logistics names in Lagos. We could not confirm their current rider programmes from a page we opened, so check their own websites or apps for whether they are recruiting riders today and in which cities.

Platform status matters because a rider who buys or rents a bike to work for one app is exposed if that app changes its pay, leaves a city or stops recruiting.

What onboarding usually involves

Each app sets its own requirements and you should follow its rider page. Expect to provide some or all of the following:

  1. A valid ID and your NIN or BVN for identity checks.
  2. A smartphone with data, and a bank account in your name for payouts.
  3. For motorcycle riders: a valid licence, the bike's papers and plate, and insurance.
  4. A guarantor or reference, which some platforms ask for.
  5. Attendance at a briefing or training session, and collection of a branded bag or box.

For motorcycle riders, the circular effective 1 November 2024 set motorcycle and tricycle licences at ₦7,000 for 3 years or ₦11,000 for 5 years, and motorcycle plates at ₦12,000. NAICOM's 2023 rates put third-party motorcycle insurance at ₦3,000 a year.

How pay works

Aluko said Chowdeck riders are paid on completed deliveries and also by kilometres, and that riders bear the cost of maintaining their bikes. Most delivery apps do not publish a fixed rate per delivery on a public page; the rate is shown in the rider app and can change with demand, time and distance. Treat any average as an average: new riders, riders in quieter areas and riders working fewer hours will earn less.

A worked weekly example

Example only. A rider grossing ₦100,000 a week (the average Chowdeck's CEO cited), riding 700 km on a motorcycle that does 35 km per litre, with petrol at ₦1,250 a litre.

LineOwns the bikeRents the bike
Gross delivery pay₦100,000₦100,000
Fuel: 700 km ÷ 35 km/l = 20 litres × ₦1,250−₦25,000−₦25,000
Data−₦2,500−₦2,500
Maintenance reserve−₦7,500−₦7,500
Bike rental₦0−₦25,000
Weekly net₦65,000₦40,000

The ₦25,000 gap between the two columns is the strongest argument for saving towards your own bike. A rider on a bicycle avoids fuel but covers less ground per hour, so the comparison works differently.

Choosing between platforms

Many riders sign up with more than one app and switch on whichever is busiest. Before you do, compare them on what you actually take home, not on the headline average. Ask riders already working your area, and keep a log for your first two weeks on each app.

  • Pay basis. Per delivery, per kilometre, or both, and whether waiting time at restaurants is paid.
  • Incentives. Weekly bonuses for a number of completed trips can add a lot, but the targets can change.
  • Payout timing. Daily, weekly or on request, and whether there is any fee to withdraw.
  • Zone. Where orders cluster in your city, and how far you ride empty to reach them.
  • Support. How the app handles accidents, disputes with customers and missing orders.

Count every hour you are logged in, including waiting time, and divide your weekly net by those hours. A platform that pays more per delivery but leaves you waiting longer between orders can pay less per hour.

Risks to weigh

  • Road safety. Delivery riding is dangerous; a helmet and reflective gear are essential, and accidents also stop income.
  • Local restrictions. Commercial motorcycles are restricted in parts of some cities; see where okada is still allowed.
  • Pay changes. Apps can change per-delivery rates or incentives with little notice.
  • Theft and cash. Cash-on-delivery orders add risk; read cutting rider remittance risk.

Where Pryme fits

Riders paid weekly can split their pay as it lands: a Naira Savings Box for bike repairs or a bike deposit, and bills for airtime and data from the app. If you want to work for your own clients instead, see the dispatch rider business.

Questions people ask

How much do Chowdeck riders earn per week?

Chowdeck's CEO, Femi Aluko, said in September 2026 that riders earn an average of ₦100,000 a week, with top riders earning more. Riders pay their own fuel and maintenance from this.

Is Gokada still working in Lagos?

We could not confirm Gokada's current rider programme from a page we opened in October 2026. Check its own website or app before investing in a bike for it.

What do I need to become a Glovo rider in Nigeria?

Requirements are set by Glovo and shown on its rider sign-up page. Expect ID, a smartphone, a bank account and, for motorcycles, a licence, bike papers and insurance.

How are delivery riders paid in Nigeria?

Most apps pay per completed delivery, with distance counted, and show the rate in the rider app. Chowdeck's CEO said its riders are paid by deliveries and kilometres.
