Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Blogging income in Nigeria: AdSense, sponsored posts, reality

What a Nigerian blog costs to run, how AdSense pays and verifies, where sponsored posts and affiliate links fit, and how long income usually takes.

The short answer

A Nigerian blog earns mainly from display ads such as Google AdSense, sponsored posts, affiliate links and selling your own products or services. AdSense asks you to verify your identity and address once earnings reach $10, mails a PIN by post, and pays between the 21st and 26th of the month once you pass your payment threshold. Expect months of steady publishing before income is meaningful; most bloggers earn more from sponsorships and services than from ads.

What a blog costs to run

  • Domain name: a .com.ng or .ng name is sold by registrars accredited by NiRA, the .ng registry. In February 2022 NiRA said it would cut second-level .ng prices by about 40%, and noted that .com.ng retail prices were "sometimes less than ₦1,500". Those figures are dated; check today's price with a registrar.
  • Hosting: shared hosting is the usual start; prices vary by provider and renew higher than the first-year offer on many plans.
  • Theme and tools: free themes work; paid ones and email tools are optional.
  • Data and power: often the biggest real cost of writing and uploading regularly.
  • Your time: research, writing, images and promotion. This is the cost most people underestimate.

Some online store builders also include a domain. Bumpa's pricing page, for example, listed a free .com.ng domain on its Pro plan in October 2026, with renewal not included. Free blogging platforms cost nothing but limit your control over ads and design.

How AdSense pays

Google AdSense places ads on your pages and shares the revenue with you. Its help centre sets out the payment process:

  1. Once your earnings reach $10 (or the local equivalent), Google asks you to verify your identity and address.
  2. You have 45 days from the first request to submit identity documents.
  3. Google mails a PIN to your payment address by standard post, which can take two to three weeks; you have four months from when it is generated to enter it.
  4. If your balance reaches the payment threshold by the end of the month and there are no holds, payment is issued between the 21st and the 26th of the following month.
  5. Below the threshold, earnings roll over to the next month.

The threshold amount for your account is shown on AdSense's payment thresholds page and in your account. Make sure your payment address is one where post actually arrives, because many Nigerian blogs stall at the PIN step.

Why ad income is often small

Ad income depends on page views and on how much advertisers pay to reach your readers. Audiences in Nigeria often earn less per thousand views than audiences in richer markets, and some readers use ad blockers. Example only: if a blog had 30,000 page views a month and earned $1 per thousand, AdSense would pay about $30 a month. Your rate could be higher or lower; the point is that ads alone rarely pay a salary until traffic is large.

Income routeHow it worksWhat it needs
Sponsored postsA brand pays you to publish an article or mentionA defined niche and readers a brand wants
Affiliate linksCommission on sales through your linksReaders who trust your recommendations
Own digital productsE-books, templates or coursesA clear problem your readers will pay to solve
ServicesWriting, consulting or design for clientsThe blog acts as your portfolio
Newsletter sponsorshipsBrands pay to reach your email listAn engaged list, even a small one

Selar's affiliate network, for instance, says merchants must offer affiliates at least 30% commission on most digital products. See affiliate programmes that pay for details, and label every sponsored post clearly as sponsored.

Pitching a sponsored post

Brands pay for readers, not for a blog. When you pitch, send your monthly visitors, where readers come from, your top three posts and two or three ideas that fit the brand. Agree in writing what you will publish, whether links are marked as sponsored, how long the post stays live, and when you are paid.

A realistic timeline

Search traffic takes time to build: search engines need to find, index and trust your pages, and you need enough articles to cover your topic well. Many bloggers publish for months before search visits grow, and some never reach the traffic they hoped for. Choose a narrow subject you can write about for a long time, answer real questions better than existing pages do, and track which posts bring readers. If your aim is income within a few months, offer a service now and let the blog support it.

What to check first

  • Can you name 50 article ideas in your niche? If not, the niche may be too thin.
  • Do businesses in your niche spend on advertising or sponsorship?
  • Will post reach your address for the AdSense PIN?
  • Can you keep publishing on a schedule for at least six months?

For related routes, read freelance writing for local clients.

Where Pryme fits

Ad networks and international sponsors often pay in dollars. A Pryme account holds USD alongside NGN, GBP and EUR with local details for each (see multicurrency), so you decide when to Swap to naira, with the rate shown first.

Questions people ask

How much do bloggers earn in Nigeria?

There is no reliable average. Income depends on traffic, niche and how many routes you use. Ads alone usually pay little until traffic is large; sponsorships, affiliate links and services usually add more.

How much is AdSense payment threshold in Nigeria?

AdSense shows your account's threshold on its payment thresholds page and in your account. Identity and address verification start at $10 in earnings, and payments go out between the 21st and 26th of the month once you pass the threshold.

How much does it cost to start a blog in Nigeria?

You need a domain, hosting and your time. In February 2022 NiRA said .com.ng retail prices were sometimes under ₦1,500; check current domain and hosting prices with providers, including renewal prices.

How long does it take a blog to make money?

Often many months of regular publishing. Search traffic builds slowly, so many bloggers earn first from services or sponsorships while the blog grows.
