Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

AI agents

What can an AI sales agent do for a one-person business?

For a solopreneur, an AI sales agent is the follow-up you never get round to. What it can take over, what stays with you, and where to start.

The short answer

For a one-person business, an AI sales agent keeps every enquiry, quote and promise moving while you do the paid work: it logs leads, drafts replies and quotes from your own prices, and flags deals that have gone quiet. It should not set new prices, agree terms or contact people who have not agreed to hear from you. Those decisions stay with you.

Most solopreneurs do not lose sales because they sell badly. They lose them in the gaps: the enquiry that arrived during a client call, the quote sent and never chased, the "let me check and come back to you" that was never written down. An AI sales agent is useful mainly because it does not forget, and because it does the small administrative work around each conversation that a busy owner skips.

The sales work a one-person business actually has

A sole trader rarely has a pipeline in the corporate sense. It has a handful of conversations at different temperatures, spread across email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and the phone. Each task is small; together they compete with delivery, and delivery usually wins. Research from Salesforce found that sales reps in larger companies spend less than 30% of their time actually selling. A solopreneur has the same problem in a sharper form, because the same person also does the work being sold.

TaskWhat usually happensWhat an agent can do
Logging a new enquirySkipped, or kept in your headCapture it with source, date and what was asked
First replyHours later, after client workDraft a reply from your service list for you to approve
Quote or proposalAn evening spent rewriting an old oneDraft from your price list and past proposals
Follow-up after silenceOften neverFlag it and draft a short note that refers to the quote
Remembering promisesMemoryKeep a register of what you told each client

What to hand over, and what to keep

The useful split is between work that follows a rule you have already decided and work that needs a fresh judgement.

Hand over

  • Logging enquiries and tagging where they came from.
  • Drafting first replies and follow-ups that cite the conversation they belong to.
  • Building quotes from a price list you maintain, inside a discount band you set.
  • Flagging deals that have gone quiet for longer than your normal cycle.
  • Recording every promise: delivery dates, inclusions, call-backs.

Keep

  • Any price outside your list, and every discount above the band.
  • Contract terms, scope changes and payment terms.
  • Who to approach cold, and whether you are allowed to contact them.
  • Any conversation where the client is unhappy or the relationship is at risk.

A worked example: a freelance brand designer

Example only. Ada is a brand designer with clients in Lagos and London. In a typical week she receives six enquiries and sends four quotes. Before using an agent she replied to most enquiries the next day and chased about one quote in four.

  1. A London founder messages on Tuesday afternoon while Ada is presenting to another client. The agent logs the enquiry, notes the budget mentioned and drafts a reply with her three packages.
  2. Ada approves the draft from her phone in under a minute. The agent records that she has promised a quote by Thursday.
  3. On Thursday morning the agent drafts the quote in pounds from her price list: £2,400 for the identity package. The founder has asked for 15% off; her band allows 10%, so the agent stops and asks her.
  4. Ada offers 10% (£2,160) with one fewer revision round. The agent writes that change into the promise register.
  5. Five working days later there is no reply. The agent drafts a short follow-up that refers to the specific quote, and Ada sends it.

Ada made every decision that mattered, and nothing she agreed was lost. Speed helps too: a much-cited Harvard Business Review study found that firms which responded to online leads within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify the lead as those that waited even an hour longer.

Where agents go wrong for one-person businesses

  • Over-eager follow-up. Without a cadence limit an agent can make a small business look desperate. Set a maximum number of follow-ups and a minimum gap.
  • Invented details. A language model can fill a gap with something plausible, such as a turnaround time you never offered. Require every claim in a draft to trace to your price list, your terms or the conversation.
  • Outreach rules. Electronic marketing rules differ by country, and a sole trader prospect is often treated as an individual. See the UK rules and the US rules before you let anything send.
  • Being bound by what it says. In Moffatt v. Air Canada, a Canadian tribunal held the airline responsible for wrong information its chatbot gave a customer. Assume anything your agent tells a client is your word.

Getting paid on what you sold

A sale is not finished when the client says yes. The promise register should carry through to the invoice, so that the price, currency and payment terms you agreed are the ones you bill. If you sell in more than one currency, quote in the client's currency where you can and record the rate you used. Chasing an unpaid invoice is usually finance work rather than sales work; our guide to AI for accounts receivable covers how to do it without damaging the relationship.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Business is a business account that comes with five AI agents, including a Sales agent that manages pipeline, follow-ups, proposals and forecasts and keeps a register of what was promised to each customer. It sends discounts inside the band you set and stops above it, so the pricing decision reaches you. The same account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR with local account details, and invoicing sits alongside it. The agents are built and certified by Pryme Intelligence before they act.

Questions people ask

Do I need a CRM before I use an AI sales agent?

No. A one-person business can start from an inbox, a price list and a simple record of each enquiry. What matters is that the agent writes down what was asked, what was quoted and what was promised, with the source. See our piece on CRM versus an AI sales agent.

Can an AI sales agent negotiate prices for me?

It can apply a discount band you have set and explain your packages. It should not go beyond the band or change scope without you. Treat anything above your rules as a decision for you.

Will clients know they are dealing with AI?

If you approve and send each message yourself, the message is yours. If an agent replies on its own, some places require disclosure: California's bot law and Article 50 of the EU AI Act both deal with this. Being open about it is usually the safer choice.

What should I hand over first?

Logging enquiries and drafting follow-ups. They carry the least risk and recover the most lost sales. Quotes come next, once your price list is written down.
