Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Kingdom

WorldRemit from the UK to a Nigerian mobile wallet

WorldRemit pays mobile money to the receiver's registered wallet number. What the receiver needs, how to check Nigeria offers it and what can go wrong.

The short answer

WorldRemit's mobile money service sends to the receiver's registered mobile money account number, with fees and the rate shown before you pay. Its pages we read do not name the Nigerian wallets it supports, so choose Nigeria in the app and check that mobile money is offered; you will need the phone number the receiver's wallet is registered to, in their name.

Sending to a phone-number wallet rather than a bank account is common for family who do most of their money on a phone. WorldRemit offers mobile money as a delivery method, and describes it as an "instant transfer to your receiver's registered mobile money account number". What it does not say on the pages we read in October 2026 is which Nigerian wallets it reaches. That is the first thing to check.

What WorldRemit's pages say

  • Mobile money goes to the receiver's registered mobile money account number.
  • Fees and the exchange rate are shown upfront, before you pay.
  • UK senders can pay by debit, credit or prepaid card, Apple Pay or bank account transfer.
  • Card and Apple Pay payments are capped at £8,000 per transaction and £50,000 per 24 hours; bank transfers at £100,000 per transaction and per 24 hours.
  • Senders verify with a current passport, European driving licence or European residence permit, and may be asked for proof of address.

What the receiver needs

The registered number
The phone number the wallet is registered to, with the right country code. Not a second SIM, not a number they use for WhatsApp only.
A wallet in their own name
The name on the wallet should match the name you enter. A mismatch can cause a failed payment.
Room in the wallet
Nigerian wallets commonly have tier limits on balance and receipts set at the provider's end, so a large transfer can bounce off a lower-tier wallet. See OPay limits by tier as one example.

Steps

  1. Ask the receiver which wallet they use, the exact registered phone number and the name on the wallet.
  2. In WorldRemit, choose Nigeria and check that mobile money appears. Select the wallet provider if a list is shown.
  3. Enter the receiver's name and number. Read the quote: rate, fee and the naira amount.
  4. Pay with your chosen method. Keep the transfer reference.
  5. Ask the receiver to confirm the credit in their wallet app.

If it goes wrong

If the number or name was wrong, request a cancellation quickly. WorldRemit's cancellations page says you request it in the app, under transfer activity, by choosing the transfer and "Request cancellation"; you get the outcome by email, and a refund may not be possible once the money is paid out. Refunds usually take up to 7 working days after cancellation, longer for some payment methods. See a cancelled WorldRemit transfer.

Wallet or bank account?

A wallet suits frequent small sums the receiver will spend from their phone. A bank account suits larger sums, school fees or anything that needs a bank statement later. If your receiver has both, the bank account is the safer target for a large payment because it avoids the wallet's tier limits. Our guide on sending to OPay or PalmPay from the UK compares the routes, and WorldRemit bank transfers covers the bank option.

Checking the cost

WorldRemit says fees and the rate are shown upfront. For a wallet transfer, read three things on the quote: the fee, the exchange rate and the naira amount that will land. Then compare the rate with the mid-market rate at the same moment; the gap, multiplied by your pounds, is the part of the cost that does not appear as a fee. If you pay by credit card, your card provider may add its own cash fee and interest, which will not show on WorldRemit's quote at all. Debit card or bank transfer avoids that. Our guide to FX margins shows the arithmetic step by step.

Worked example

Example only. Ifeoma in Glasgow wants to send £40 to her cousin's phone wallet. She asks for the registered number and finds it differs from the number she has saved, which is his work line. She checks that mobile money appears for Nigeria in WorldRemit, enters the correct number and his name as it appears on the wallet, reads the naira amount on the quote and pays. Had she used the work line, the payment could have failed or been delayed.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Send pays Nigerian bank accounts from a Pryme account that holds pounds and naira. The app shows the rate and the fee before you approve.

Questions people ask

Can I send to a Nigerian mobile wallet with WorldRemit?

WorldRemit offers mobile money to a receiver's registered wallet number, but its pages we read do not name Nigerian wallets. Choose Nigeria in the app and check whether mobile money is listed.

What details do I need for a WorldRemit mobile money transfer?

The receiver's registered mobile money number and their name as it appears on the wallet.

How fast is WorldRemit mobile money?

WorldRemit describes it as an instant transfer to the receiver's registered number. Checks on your transfer can still add time.

Can I cancel a WorldRemit mobile money transfer?

You can request cancellation in the app. WorldRemit says it may not refund once the money is paid out, and refunds usually take up to 7 working days after cancellation.
