Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Kingdom

WorldRemit UK proof of address: documents it accepts

WorldRemit asked for proof of address? Its UK FAQ accepts UK utility bills and bank statements under six months old. Here is what passes and what fails.

The short answer

WorldRemit's UK sender FAQ accepts a utility bill (landline, mobile, electricity, gas, water, internet or council rates), a bank statement, or an accepted photo ID that shows your address. Each document must show your full name and full current address, be no more than 6 months old, and be issued or certified by UK authorities; documents from other countries are not accepted (WorldRemit FAQ, checked October 2026).

WorldRemit checks every sender's identity at some point, and the address step is where many Nigerians in the UK get stuck: a tenancy agreement, a letter from Nigeria or a screenshot of a council tax account may not be on the list. This guide sets out exactly what WorldRemit's own UK sender FAQ says it accepts, how to upload it, and the common reasons a document comes back.

What WorldRemit's UK FAQ accepts as proof of address

WorldRemit says the type of document it asks for "will vary upon what we need to clarify". When it is your address, the UK FAQ lists three routes:

  • A utility bill. WorldRemit names landline, mobile, electricity, gas, water, internet and council rates bills.
  • A bank statement. A statement from your UK bank showing your name and home address.
  • A photo ID that shows your address. One of the photo IDs WorldRemit accepts (current passport, current European driving licence or current European residence permit), where the document itself carries your address. A UK photocard driving licence is the usual example, because a passport does not show an address.

Every one of these must meet four conditions set out on the same page:

ConditionWhat WorldRemit says
Age"All documents and bills need to be no more than 6 months old"
Country of issueDocuments issued or certified by authorities from countries other than the United Kingdom "will not be accepted"
NameMust show your full name
AddressMust show your full current residential address

Documents that commonly fail, and why

WorldRemit does not publish a list of rejected documents, so the points below follow from its stated conditions rather than from a separate WorldRemit list.

  • An old bill. A gas bill from last winter is likely to be more than six months old by the time you upload it.
  • A bill in someone else's name. If the energy account is in your landlord's or partner's name, it does not show your full name.
  • A Nigerian document. Anything issued in Nigeria fails the UK-issue condition, however recent.
  • A cropped photo. WorldRemit asks for a high-quality image showing "the full document including all four corners" and may ask you to send another copy if the image is unclear.
  • A partial address. A document showing only a postcode or a flat number without the street does not meet the full-address condition.

What about a BRP or eVisa?

Neither is on WorldRemit's address list, and neither shows a home address. GOV.UK says all biometric residence permits have now expired and been replaced by eVisas, a digital record of identity and immigration status. Your eVisa proves status, not where you live, so for this step you still need a bill, a statement or an ID that carries your address.

If you have just moved to the UK

New arrivals often have no bills in their name yet. Options that fit WorldRemit's stated list:

  1. Use the first statement from your new UK bank account once it shows your home address. Many banks let you download a statement from the app.
  2. Use a mobile phone bill in your name if you are on a UK contract; WorldRemit lists mobile bills.
  3. If you are liable for council tax and the council issues a bill or rates notice in your name, that falls under the council rates category.
  4. Wait for your UK photocard driving licence, if you are getting one, since an accepted photo ID that shows your address also counts.

If none of these is ready, WorldRemit's page does not describe an alternative, so ask its support team before you send rather than uploading documents that do not meet the conditions.

How to upload, step by step

  1. Open the verification page from WorldRemit's FAQ or the prompt in your account (the FAQ links it as "Click the link to upload your photo ID").
  2. Photograph the whole document flat, in good light, with all four corners visible.
  3. Check that your full name and full address can be read before you submit.
  4. If WorldRemit replies that the image is unclear or incomplete, send a fresh copy rather than the same file.

Photo ID has its own rules on the same page: it must show your photograph, full name, date of birth and an unexpired date, and include the two lines of letters and numbers at the bottom (the MRZ). Address proof and photo ID are separate checks, so passing one does not clear the other.

What this has to do with sending limits

WorldRemit's UK FAQ sets payment limits by method: cards and Apple Pay up to GBP 8,000 per transaction and GBP 50,000 per 24 hours, and bank account transfer up to GBP 100,000 per transaction and per 24 hours. Verification is part of how a firm meets its money laundering duties, which under regulation 28 of the UK Money Laundering Regulations include identifying and verifying the customer. Getting your address documents right first time saves days on a transfer that is already waiting. For a wider view of what UK providers ask, see our guide to providers asking for source of funds and UK transfer limits to Nigeria.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme accounts can be opened from any country and hold GBP alongside naira, with local account details for each currency; outside Nigeria, activities are carried out through regulated partners. You will still be asked to verify who you are. When you send or swap, the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve. See how the multicurrency account works.

Questions people ask

Can I use a Nigerian bank statement as proof of address for WorldRemit UK?

No. WorldRemit's UK FAQ says documents issued or certified by authorities from countries other than the United Kingdom will not be accepted.

How old can my proof of address be for WorldRemit?

No more than 6 months old, according to WorldRemit's UK sender FAQ.

Does WorldRemit accept a council tax bill?

WorldRemit lists council rates bills among accepted utility bills, so a recent bill in your name showing your full address fits its list.

Is a BRP or eVisa proof of address for WorldRemit?

No. Neither is on WorldRemit's address list and neither shows your home address; an eVisa proves immigration status, not address.
