Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Canada

Wedding photos and receipts from Nigeria for IRCC

What evidence of a Nigerian wedding helps a Canadian spousal sponsorship, what IRCC will not accept, and what to collect and keep from the day itself.

The short answer

For a spousal sponsorship, IRCC's Guide 5289 (modified 23 April 2026) asks for a marriage certificate or proof of registration showing the marriage was legally registered where it took place, and the marriage must be legal both in Nigeria and in Canada; proxy, phone or internet marriages are not recognised. Photos, invitations, guest lists and vendor receipts then help show the relationship is real; keep originals, date them, and choose a focused set rather than everything.

A Nigerian wedding produces a mountain of material: the introduction, the traditional wedding, the church or registry wedding, aso ebi, hundreds of photos. When you sponsor a spouse to Canada, only some of it helps. This guide sorts the essential from the useful, so you collect the right things on the day.

IRCC's Guide 5289 sets the rules for sponsoring a spouse:

  • Include a valid marriage certificate or proof of marriage registration showing the marriage was legally registered where it took place.
  • A marriage performed outside Canada must be legally recognised both where it took place and in Canada.
  • IRCC does not recognise marriages by proxy, telephone, fax or internet, or where one or both people were not physically present.
  • Documents not in English or French must be translated.

In Nigeria, the Ministry of Interior's eCitiBiz service says marriages under the Marriage Act are recognised when held at a Federal Marriage Registry or a licensed place of worship, with registries in Lagos, Abuja, Benin City, Owerri, Port Harcourt and Kano. If your only ceremony was traditional, read is a customary marriage recognised in Canada and is a Nigerian marriage certificate valid in Canada; if either of you was absent, read proxy marriage and Canadian immigration before you plan anything else.

Evidence that the relationship is real

A certificate shows a marriage happened; the officer must also be satisfied the relationship is real. You set this out on the Relationship Information and Sponsorship Evaluation form (IMM 5532), which the guide requires for every spouse sponsorship, and support it with documents. The guide limits proof of communication to a maximum of 10 pages, which tells you IRCC wants a selection, not a dump.

Photos

  • Choose photos across time: before the wedding, the ceremonies, after.
  • Show both families and guests, not just the couple.
  • Caption each with date, place, event and who is pictured.
  • Include the registry or church moment with the certificate being signed, if you have it.

Receipts and paperwork from the day

Venue
Booking confirmation and receipt in either name
Registry or church
Notice of marriage, receipts, letter from the place of worship
Vendors
Caterer, photographer, decorator, MC invoices, paid by either of you
Invitations
A printed card and the digital flyer, showing names and date
Guest list
With relatives on both sides
Bride price list
If a traditional ceremony was held, the family list and photos of the items
Travel
Your flights and boarding passes, showing you were physically there

What to keep and how

  1. Keep originals somewhere safe in Nigeria and scan everything.
  2. Name files by date and event.
  3. Translate anything in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or another language, using a certified translator.
  4. Make a one-page timeline: when you met, introduction, wedding dates, visits since.
  5. Keep evidence of contact after the wedding: calls, visits, money sent to each other.

Gaps worth closing before you apply

  • Names that do not match. If a vendor receipt, the certificate and the passport spell a name differently, explain it in a short note.
  • Only one side's family. Photos and guest lists showing both families together say more than a hundred pictures of the couple.
  • No dates. Undated photos are hard to place. Captions and file dates fix that.
  • Nothing after the wedding. A real marriage continues: visits, calls, shared plans, money sent to each other. Keep evidence going while the application is processed (see supporting a spouse while sponsorship is processed).
  • Translations missing. A certificate or letter in another language without a translation can delay the file.

None of these is fatal on its own, but each one is a question the officer may ask. Answering it in the application is faster than answering it later.

Fees for the sponsorship

IRCC's fee list (modified 21 September 2026) shows $1,260 to sponsor a spouse or partner including the right of permanent residence fee, or $660 without it (the right of permanent residence fee is $600), plus $85 biometrics. Costs and steps are in our guide to sponsoring a spouse from Nigeria.

Where Pryme fits

If you paid vendors in naira, payments made from a Pryme account come with a verifiable receipt naming the payee and date, which is tidier evidence than a screenshot.

Questions people ask

How many wedding photos should I send to IRCC?

IRCC's guide does not give a fixed number for photos; choose a focused, captioned set across time and events rather than hundreds of near-duplicates.

Is a traditional marriage enough for spousal sponsorship?

The marriage must be legal where it took place and in Canada, with proof of registration. Check how your traditional marriage is documented before applying.

Does IRCC accept proxy marriages from Nigeria?

No. Guide 5289 says IRCC does not recognise marriages where one or both people were not physically present.

What does it cost to sponsor a spouse to Canada?

IRCC lists $1,260 including the right of permanent residence fee, or $660 without it, plus $85 biometrics (fee list modified 21 September 2026).
