What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Sponsoring a spouse from Nigeria: the full fee picture

Every IRCC fee for sponsoring a husband or wife from Nigeria as at September 2026, plus the medical, police, translation and travel costs families forget.

The short answer

As at IRCC's fee list of 21 September 2026, sponsoring a spouse or partner costs $1,260, which bundles the sponsorship, processing and right of permanent residence fees ($660 if the right of permanent residence fee is paid separately later), plus $85 for biometrics. Each dependent child adds $180. On top come third-party costs IRCC itself flags, chiefly the immigration medical exam and police certificates, which are paid to the clinic and the police, not to IRCC.

Spousal sponsorship is the most common way Nigerians in Canada bring a husband or wife over, whether the marriage was a court wedding in Ikoyi, a traditional ceremony in Owerri or both. The IRCC fees are fixed and published; the other costs vary and are where budgets go wrong. This page uses IRCC's fee list, modified 21 September 2026, and its spousal application page, modified 11 September 2026. Fees change; check the fee list on the day you pay.

The difference between the two spouse lines, $1,260 − $660 = $600, is the right of permanent residence fee. IRCC's application page says this fee must be paid before the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident, so paying it at the start avoids a later request that could slow the final step.

Costs paid to others

IRCC's application page says that, depending on your situation, you may need to pay third parties for a medical exam or a police certificate. Neither price is set by IRCC.

  • Immigration medical exam: done by an IRCC-approved panel physician; the clinic sets the fee. Ask the clinic in Lagos or Abuja for its current charge before booking.
  • Police certificates: from Nigeria and from any other country where your spouse lived for the period IRCC's country instructions require. The issuing authority sets the fee.
  • Translations: documents not in English or French need certified translations.
  • Passport and photos: a valid Nigerian passport, and photos to IRCC's specification.
  • Travel for biometrics and the medical: transport and sometimes a hotel night if the centre is in another city.
  • Paid representative: optional. IRCC notes unpaid representatives charge nothing; paid ones set their own fees.

A worked budget

Example only. Tolu in Halifax sponsors her husband in Lagos, with no children, paying everything upfront. The IRCC fees are fixed; the rest are placeholders you replace with your own quotes.

If children are included

Example only. If Tolu's husband also had two children from an earlier marriage coming as dependants, the IRCC fees would be $1,260 + (2 × $180) = $1,620, and biometrics would be capped at the $170 family maximum if they all apply at the same time, giving $1,790. Each child would also need a medical exam, and children over the age the instructions set may need police certificates. Children add documents too: birth certificates, and consent or custody papers if the other parent is not travelling.

Fees are only part of the picture

The application stands or falls on the relationship evidence and the forms, not the payment. IRCC rejects incomplete applications and asks the principal applicant to fix them and resubmit, which costs time. Gather the evidence early: see wedding photos and receipts for IRCC. While you wait, many sponsors support their spouse at home; supporting a spouse during processing covers that.

  3. Pay IRCC fees online and keep the receipt for the application.
  4. Submit through the Permanent Residence Portal; the sponsored spouse submits both applications online.
  5. Pay biometrics when you submit unless told otherwise.

IRCC's fees as at September 2026 are $1,260 for spouse sponsorship including the right of permanent residence fee, plus $85 biometrics. Medical and police certificate costs are extra.

Can I pay the right of permanent residence fee later?

Yes. IRCC lists a $660 option without it; the fee must be paid before your spouse becomes a permanent resident.

Is the medical exam fee paid to IRCC?

No. It is paid to the panel physician, who sets the fee.

How much is biometrics for spousal sponsorship?

$85 per person, or $170 for a family applying together, according to IRCC's fee list.
