Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United States

Verifiable statements for a US lender reviewing Nigerian revenue

What a US lender looks for when your revenue is earned in Nigeria, and how a verifiable statement lets them confirm the figures have not been altered.

The short answer

A US lender reviewing Nigerian revenue wants to know two things: that the documents are real and unaltered, and what the naira figures mean in dollars. A verifiable statement or receipt generated through Pryme's partner VerifyDoc.ai can be checked by anyone as genuine and unaltered; it does not prove creditworthiness, so lenders will still read it alongside tax filings, invoices and management accounts.

Why Nigerian revenue is harder for a US lender to accept

A credit analyst in Dallas or Chicago can check a US bank statement against what they already know: the bank, its format, sometimes a direct data link. A statement from a Nigerian bank in naira is unfamiliar. The analyst cannot easily confirm it came from the bank, cannot tell whether a PDF has been edited, and has to decide which exchange rate to use. Fake bank statements are a known problem worldwide, so unfamiliar documents get extra scrutiny or are simply discounted.

The result for a diaspora founder is often a lower credit line than the business deserves, or a request for documents that takes weeks to assemble.

The documents a lender usually asks for

DocumentWhat it showsHow it can be checked
Bank statements, 6 to 24 monthsActual money in and outVerifiable statement, or bank confirmation letter
Invoices and receiptsWho paid and for whatMatched to statement entries; for large Nigerian taxpayers, an NRS Invoice Reference Number
Tax filings and a Tax Clearance CertificateRevenue declared to the tax authorityTCC validation through the issuing authority
Management accountsProfit, margins, receivablesReconciled to bank and tax records
Company registrationThe business exists and who owns itCAC public search

Two Nigerian developments help. Under the NRS e-invoicing rollout, The Guardian (July 2026) reports that large taxpayers (turnover of ₦5 billion or more) had a 31 July 2026 deadline and that compliant invoices carry an Invoice Reference Number, with medium and smaller businesses to follow. And a TCC, as Firmus Advisory explains, generally reflects returns filed and taxes paid, typically for the past three years.

What "verifiable" adds

A regular PDF statement is a picture of numbers; anyone with editing software can change it. A verifiable statement is issued so that a third party, such as the lender, can check that it is genuine and has not been altered since it was generated. That shifts the question from "do we trust this PDF?" to "the record checks out; now, is the business strong enough?"

Be clear about what it does not do. Verification confirms the document is authentic and unchanged. It does not tell the lender the business is profitable, that the revenue will continue, or that money in the account belongs to the business rather than being a short-term loan. Lenders will still ask questions about large one-off credits and transfers between related accounts.

Converting the naira figures

The lender will translate your naira revenue into dollars. For US tax reporting, the IRS says amounts must be reported in dollars at the rate prevailing when received or paid and that there is no official IRS rate; a lender can choose its own method, often an average or the latest rate. Ask which rate the lender uses, and show your revenue in naira and dollars side by side, with the rate and its date stated, so nobody has to guess. Our article on FX gains and losses on naira balances explains why the same naira can produce different dollar figures over time.

Preparing a lender pack

  1. Generate verifiable statements for the full period the lender asks for, from the account where revenue actually lands.
  2. Pull the matching invoices and receipts, and mark large or unusual entries with a one-line explanation.
  3. Add your Nigerian tax filings and TCC, and the CAC registration of the operating company.
  4. Show a naira-to-dollar revenue table with the rate source and date.
  5. Keep the pack consistent: the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025 (s.31) expects records kept for six years, so the lender's request should be answerable from the same records you keep anyway.

For a wider look at evidence, see bank statement evidence for a Nigerian business and receipts and audit trails across US and Nigerian accounts.

Questions the lender is likely to ask

  • Why revenue dips or jumps in particular months, for example around festive seasons or a large one-off contract.
  • Whether money in the account belongs to the Nigerian operating company or to a founder personally.
  • How profits reach the US entity. Dividends or loan repayments from Nigeria generally need a Certificate of Capital Importation for the original investment and tax clearance; see repatriating profits from a Nigerian subsidiary.
  • How much of the revenue is in naira and how exposed the business is to exchange-rate moves.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme partners with VerifyDoc.ai. Any Pryme customer can generate a regular or a verifiable receipt or statement, and anyone, including a US lender, can verify that a verifiable one is genuine and unaltered. See receipts and statements. Revenue held in the multicurrency business account stays in the currency it arrived in, so the statement shows naira as naira and dollars as dollars.

Questions people ask

Will a US lender accept a Nigerian bank statement?

Many will review one, but unfamiliar formats get extra scrutiny. A statement the lender can verify as genuine and unaltered, plus tax filings and invoices, gives them more to rely on.

What is a verifiable statement?

A statement issued so that a third party can check it is genuine and has not been altered. Through Pryme's partner VerifyDoc.ai, anyone can verify a verifiable one.

Does verification prove my business is creditworthy?

No. It proves the document is authentic and unchanged. The lender still judges revenue quality, profit and risk.

What exchange rate will a US lender use for my naira revenue?

It depends on the lender. The IRS has no official rate for tax purposes. Ask the lender, and show naira and dollar figures with the rate and date stated.
