Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Wrong transfer on V Bank: how to request a reversal

Sent money to the wrong account from V Bank? Report it the same day on 0201 227 1396 and in writing, what to include, and what to do if it is not returned.

The short answer

If you send money to the wrong account from V Bank, report it to VFD Microfinance Bank at once on its listed line, 0201 227 1396, and follow up in writing through its help desk with the transaction reference, amount, time and the recipient's account details. The bank can ask the receiving bank to recover the funds, but a completed transfer usually needs the recipient's cooperation to be returned, so speed matters.

Why speed matters with a wrong transfer

Nigerian bank transfers usually arrive within moments, so by the time you notice the mistake the money is normally already in the other person's account. V Bank cannot simply pull it back. What it can do is raise a request with the recipient's bank, which then contacts its own customer. If the recipient has not yet spent or moved the money, recovery is far more likely.

That is why the first hour counts. A report made the same day, with full details, gives both banks the best chance of acting while the funds are still there.

Step by step: requesting a reversal on V Bank

  1. Stop and screenshot the transaction receipt in the V Bank app, showing the reference, date, time, amount and the recipient's name and bank.
  2. Call V Bank on 0201 227 1396, the number on vbank.ng, and say you made a wrong transfer and want a recall request raised.
  3. Ask for a reference for your report.
  4. Send the same details in writing through the help desk at vbanksupport.freshdesk.com, quoting the call reference.
  5. If you know the recipient, contact them politely, explain the error and ask them to return the money to your account. Keep a record of the conversation.
  6. Follow up on the same ticket if you have not heard back within a few working days.

What to include in the written request

Your details
Name and the phone number on your V Bank account
Transaction reference
Exactly as shown on the receipt
Amount and time
Including the date
Intended recipient
The account you meant to pay
Actual recipient
Account number, bank and name shown
What you want
A recall of the funds to your account

What usually happens next

V Bank's homepage does not describe its reversal process or timescales, so we cannot quote them. In general, three outcomes are possible:

SituationLikely result
Recipient agrees and funds are still thereMoney is returned, often through the recipient's bank
Recipient cannot be reached or has spent the moneyRecovery is slower and may not be complete
Recipient refusesThe banks cannot normally debit the account without consent or legal authority; you may need to pursue the matter formally

If the transfer went to another V Bank account, tell the bank; it is dealing with its own customer in that case, which may be simpler.

If the money is not returned

  • Ask V Bank in writing for its final response, including what the recipient bank reported.
  • If you believe the bank has not handled your complaint fairly, escalate to the Central Bank of Nigeria, which supervises microfinance banks; check the CBN website for its current complaints channel.
  • If the recipient is refusing to return money they know is not theirs, you can report the matter to the police and seek legal advice on recovery. This article is information, not legal advice.

Keep your own record

Start a simple log the day you report the error: date and time of each call, the name of anyone you spoke to, ticket numbers, and every message to and from the recipient. If the matter ends up with the regulator, the police or a court, a clear timeline showing you acted quickly and reasonably carries weight. Keep the original app receipt as well as screenshots; a receipt generated after the event may not show the same details.

Do not pay anyone who offers to recover it for a fee

People who have made a wrong transfer are targeted by so-called recovery agents on social media who ask for an upfront fee. Ask V Bank whether any charge applies to a recall request before paying anyone else. Work only through V Bank's listed channels.

If you are the one who received money by mistake

Do not spend it, and do not send it to a different account at the request of a stranger. A common scam involves sending money "by mistake" and then pressuring the recipient to refund it to another account, while a separate claim is made against the original transfer. Contact your own bank and let it handle the return. Read money sent to you by mistake before you act.

Avoiding the next wrong transfer

  • Always read the recipient name the app shows before you enter your PIN; if it does not match, stop.
  • Save frequent recipients as beneficiaries so you are not retyping account numbers.
  • For a new large payment, send a small test amount first and confirm receipt.
  • Be careful when copying numbers from chats, where a single digit is easily mistyped.

Example: you need to pay a supplier ₦250,000 for the first time. Sending ₦1,000 first and confirming it arrived, then sending ₦249,000, costs you a second transfer fee but protects the larger amount.

See also V Bank customer care and how to spot a fake transfer receipt.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's Send flow shows the recipient and fee before you approve. A verifiable receipt, made in partnership with VerifyDoc.ai, lets anyone check that a payment record is genuine and unaltered.

Questions people ask

How do I reverse a wrong transfer on V Bank?

Call V Bank on 0201 227 1396 straight away, ask for a recall request, then send the details in writing through its help desk. Recovery depends on the receiving bank and the recipient.

How long does V Bank take to reverse a wrong transfer?

V Bank does not publish a timescale on its homepage. It depends on how quickly the recipient's bank acts and whether the recipient cooperates, so report it the same day.

Can a bank reverse a transfer without the recipient's consent?

In general a completed transfer cannot simply be pulled back from another customer's account. The banks will contact the recipient; if they refuse, formal steps may be needed.

I sent money to the wrong V Bank account, what do I do?

Report it to V Bank immediately with the reference. Because both accounts are with the same bank, tell them so; it is dealing with its own customer.
