Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

V Bank transfer limits and charges

V Bank does not publish a transfer fee schedule or limits on its homepage. How limits are set by KYC tier, what to check in the app, and how to raise them.

The short answer

V Bank, run by VFD Microfinance Bank, does not publish a transfer fee schedule or a table of transfer limits on its homepage, as checked in October 2026. Your limits depend on your KYC tier and are shown in the app; the charge for a transfer appears on the confirmation screen before you enter your PIN. A customer testimonial on the site mentions free transfers each month, but that is not a published tariff.

What V Bank publishes, and what it does not

We looked for official figures on vbank.ng. The homepage describes V Bank's products and channels but has no fee schedule and no limit table. The only mention of transfer cost is a customer testimonial referring to "zero charges on the first 50 transfers every month". A testimonial is one customer's experience, not a published term, so we do not present it as V Bank's current pricing.

The site does link to a Disclosure Statement and other terms documents. If you want a written answer on charges, those documents and the help desk at vbanksupport.freshdesk.com are the places to look.

How transfer limits are set

For any Nigerian bank account, two kinds of limit apply:

  • KYC tier limits. Under the CBN's three-tiered KYC framework, accounts with less identity evidence carry lower limits. Adding verified BVN and NIN details moves you up.
  • The bank's own channel limits. Banks set daily and per-transaction limits on the app, USSD and cards, and these can differ by channel.

Our explainers on KYC tier limits and bank transfer limits and the CBN rules set out the national framework. V Bank's own figures are in the app.

How to find your current limit

  1. Open the V Bank app and look in settings or profile for a limits or account tier section.
  2. Note both the per-transaction and the daily figure.
  3. If you cannot find them, ask through the help desk or call 0201 227 1396 and request the figures in writing.

Raising your limit

If your account is on a lower tier, complete the identity steps the app requests, typically BVN and NIN verification and, for the highest tier, address confirmation. Some banks also let you request a higher daily limit within your tier, sometimes with extra security checks. Ask V Bank which applies to your account.

Plan ahead for big payments. If rent, school fees or a car purchase is coming, check your limit a week or two before, not on the day.

Transfer charges: how to check them

Because V Bank has no published fee table, the confirmation screen is your source. Before you enter your PIN, look for:

Amount
What the recipient will receive
Fee
The charge V Bank applies to this transfer
Total debit
Amount plus fee
Recipient name
Confirms you have the right account

If the fee is not shown, ask the bank to confirm it before you make regular payments.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Example: suppose a bank charged ₦10 on transfers up to ₦5,000, ₦25 up to ₦50,000 and ₦50 above that. Sending ₦3,000, ₦20,000 and ₦120,000 in a month would cost ₦10 + ₦25 + ₦50 = ₦85, and the total debit would be ₦143,085. If the same account offered a number of free transfers a month, those three would cost nothing until the free allowance ran out. These bands are illustrative, not V Bank's tariff.

Charges that are not V Bank's

Not everything deducted around a transfer is the bank's own fee. Government levies can apply to some electronic transfers and receipts, and they appear as separate lines on a statement. Your mobile network may charge for a USSD session. Reading your monthly statement line by line is the only reliable way to see the full cost of moving money through any account.

Keeping costs down

  • Batch small payments where you can, if each transfer carries a fee.
  • Save regular recipients as beneficiaries to avoid failed transfers from typos.
  • Check whether transfers to other V Bank accounts are priced differently from transfers to other banks.
  • Review your statement at the end of each month and query any charge you do not recognise.

Business accounts

V Bank lists a Corporate Account and the Vbiz business portal separately from personal banking. Business limits and charges are commonly set differently from personal ones, and may depend on the documents you have provided and the approval rules you set up. If you pay staff or suppliers from V Bank, ask for the business tariff in writing, and check whether bulk transfers are priced per payment.

When a transfer fails

  • Check whether you have exceeded your per-transaction or daily limit.
  • Check that the recipient's bank is not having a service problem.
  • Look at your transaction history: a failed transfer that debited you should be reversed; if it is not, raise a ticket with the reference.
  • If you sent money to the wrong account, act quickly: see wrong transfer on V Bank.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's Send shows the fee on its own line before you approve, and a Pryme account keeps NGN, USD, GBP and EUR in the currency they arrived in.
