Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Arab Emirates

UAE e-invoicing: what it means for Nigeria-facing firms

The UAE's eInvoicing model, the Ministerial Decisions behind it, and what UAE firms with Nigerian customers and suppliers should prepare for.

The short answer

The UAE is moving to structured electronic invoicing under Ministerial Decisions No. 243 and 244 of 2025, as amended in 2026. Invoices travel through Accredited Service Providers in a five-corner model that reports tax data to the FTA, and PDFs, scans and emails do not count as eInvoices. Invoices to Nigerian buyers will exchange through the OpenPeppol network where the buyer can receive them; otherwise expect to keep sending a readable copy alongside.

For a Dubai firm that bills Nigerian customers and pays Nigerian suppliers, e-invoicing changes how invoices are produced on the UAE side, not what Nigerian buyers have to accept. The Ministry of Finance's eInvoicing page (last updated 22 October 2026) is the primary source; check it for the phase that applies to you.

What counts as an eInvoice

The Ministry defines an eInvoice as "a structured form of an invoice data that is issued and exchanged electronically between a supplier and a buyer". It is explicit that unstructured formats, including PDFs, Word documents, images, scans and emails, are not eInvoices. A PDF invoice emailed to a Lagos customer is an ordinary invoice, not an eInvoice, even if it was produced by software.

How the model works

The Ministry calls the model Decentralized Continuous Transaction Control and Exchange (DCTCE). It is a five-corner flow:

  1. The supplier (corner 1) prepares the invoice data in the UAE standard, PINT AE.
  2. The supplier's Accredited Service Provider (ASP) validates and converts it.
  3. The ASP transmits it to the buyer's service provider.
  4. The buyer (corner 4) receives it through that provider.
  5. Tax data is reported to the FTA (the fifth corner).

ASPs are accredited under Ministerial Decision No. 64 of 2025 and No. 168 of 2026, as amended. The Ministry points to OpenPeppol as the standard for exchanging invoices beyond UAE borders.

  • Ministerial Decision No. 243 of 2025 on the Electronic Invoicing System, amended by Ministerial Decision No. 197 of 2026
  • Ministerial Decision No. 244 of 2025 on implementation, amended by Ministerial Resolution No. 66 of 2026
  • Ministerial Decisions No. 64 of 2025 and No. 168 of 2026 on accrediting service providers
  • Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025 on violations and administrative penalties

The implementation timeline appears on the Ministry's page as an image, and the implementation decision was amended in 2026, so we do not reproduce dates here: they are exactly the figures that go stale. Open the page, find the phase for your business size and type, and work back from it to the date you must appoint an ASP.

What changes for Nigeria-facing firms

Invoices to Nigerian buyers

The Ministry's page does not set out specific treatment for invoices to buyers abroad; it lists cross-border exchange through OpenPeppol as a benefit. Few Nigerian businesses are on Peppol today, so in practice you will issue the structured invoice through your ASP for UAE purposes and also send your Nigerian customer a readable copy. Keep the two consistent: same number, date, amounts and currency.

Invoices from Nigerian suppliers

A Nigerian supplier outside the UAE system will keep sending PDFs. Whether and how such purchase invoices must be captured in the UAE system is a question for your ASP and adviser; the Ministry page does not address it.

Nigeria's own system

Nigeria is developing its own fiscalisation; PwC's Nigeria summary notes the NRS may deploy an electronic fiscal system. A Nigerian subsidiary may face its own e-invoicing duties separate from the UAE's.

What to do now

  1. Find your phase on the Ministry page and note the dates.
  2. Shortlist ASPs and ask how they handle invoices to buyers outside the UAE.
  3. Clean up customer master data: legal names, addresses and tax numbers for Nigerian customers.
  4. Make sure your invoices carry currency, exchange rate and VAT treatment clearly; see zero-rated exports VAT evidence.
  5. Check that your accounting system can export PINT AE data, or plan a change.

For the wider records picture, see records to keep under UAE corporate tax. Penalties are set by Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025; amounts are not on the Ministry page we read. This is information, not tax advice.

Common questions from finance teams

Do we still need a PDF?

For Nigerian customers outside the network, yes in practice: they need something they can read and pay against. Treat it as a copy of the eInvoice, generated from the same data.

Does e-invoicing change our VAT treatment?

No. It changes how invoice data is issued and reported, not whether a supply is standard-rated, zero-rated or exempt. Zero-rated exports still need export evidence.

Who carries the risk if the ASP fails to transmit?

Read your ASP contract. The Ministry's page describes the ASP's role in validating and transmitting, but the supplier remains the one issuing the invoice.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme invoicing sends Nigerian customers clear invoices and matches each payment to its invoice, which helps your UAE e-invoicing records and the readable copy agree. Pryme is not a UAE Accredited Service Provider.

Questions people ask

When does UAE e-invoicing start?

The phased timeline is on the Ministry of Finance eInvoicing page and was amended in 2026; check the page for your phase rather than relying on older dates.

Is a PDF invoice an eInvoice in the UAE?

No. The Ministry says PDFs, Word documents, images, scans and emails are not eInvoices.

What is an Accredited Service Provider?

A provider accredited by the Ministry that validates, converts and transmits eInvoices and reports tax data to the FTA.

Can I send e-invoices to Nigerian customers?

Cross-border exchange runs on OpenPeppol, which few Nigerian buyers use today; most firms will also send a readable copy.
