Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Arab Emirates

Verifiable receipts and statements for UAE-Nigeria payments

Why auditors, tax authorities and counterparties in both countries ask for proof of cross-border payments, and what a verifiable document adds.

The short answer

Payments between the UAE and Nigeria are checked by more people than most: UAE auditors and the FTA, Nigerian tax authorities, banks applying the CBN's foreign exchange documentation rules, and the counterparty itself. A verifiable receipt or statement lets any of them confirm the document is genuine and unaltered, instead of trusting a screenshot or PDF that anyone could edit.

Edited transfer screenshots are a known problem in Nigerian commerce, and a Dubai supplier releasing goods against a fake 'payment sent' image loses both goods and money. The same weakness shows up later in the books: an auditor asked to rely on a PDF bank confirmation has no easy way to know it was not changed.

Who asks for proof, and why

WhoWhat they need to seeWhy
UAE auditorsThat recorded receipts and payments really happened, at the amounts bookedAudit evidence for revenue, costs and balances
The FTASupport for transfer prices, deductions and zero-rated exportsTransfer pricing files are due within 30 days of a request (PwC, September 2026)
Nigerian tax authoritiesPayments by a Nigerian subsidiary to the UAE parent, and WHT deductedDeductibility and withholding
Nigerian banksDocuments behind foreign exchange flowsThe CBN's 2026 FX Manual adds documentary requirements for services export receipts (WTS Blackwoodstone, July 2026)
Your counterpartyThat money was sent, or received, before releasing goods or closing an invoiceFraud prevention

Records must be kept for seven years after the tax period under UAE corporate tax, so a payment proof has to stay useful long after the people who sent it have moved on; see records to keep under UAE corporate tax.

What makes ordinary documents weak

  • Screenshots show a screen, not a bank record, and are easy to fake.
  • PDF statements can be edited, and a reader cannot tell whether one was.
  • Email confirmations can be forwarded with changes.
  • Paper stamps do not travel well between Dubai and Lagos, and checking them means calling the issuer.

None of these is useless; they are just hard to rely on without going back to the source. The cost of going back to the source, across two countries and time zones, is what pushes people to accept weak evidence.

What a verifiable document adds

A verifiable receipt or statement is issued in a form that anyone it is shared with can check is genuine and has not been altered since it was issued. The person checking does not need to contact the bank or trust the sender. That is the useful property for cross-border payments: the Lagos buyer, the Dubai seller, the auditor and the tax inspector can all check the same document independently.

It proves the document is authentic and unchanged. It does not prove more than the document says: a verified receipt shows that a payment was made as described, not that goods were delivered or a contract was performed. See what a verified receipt proves, and what it does not.

Where verifiable documents help most

  • Releasing goods. A Dubai trader can check a Nigerian buyer's verifiable receipt before releasing stock.
  • Intercompany payments. One verifiable record of a management fee payment serves both the UAE and Nigerian files; see transfer pricing between a UAE company and a Nigerian subsidiary.
  • Export files. Proof of payment from the Nigerian customer supports the commercial side of a zero-rated export; see zero-rated exports VAT evidence.
  • Audits. Auditors can check documents themselves instead of sending confirmation requests for every item.
  • Disputes. When a customer says they paid and you say they did not, a verifiable statement settles the question quickly.

Practical steps

  1. Ask counterparties for verifiable receipts where they can provide them, and say so in your payment terms.
  2. Issue verifiable receipts for payments you make and receive, so your own file is strong.
  3. Store verifiable documents with the related invoice and contract.
  4. Keep regular receipts too where a counterparty's system needs a standard format.
  5. Train staff not to release goods on screenshots alone.

A typical case

The same document then goes into the export file and the year-end audit, so the wholesaler checks it once and relies on it three times.

What to ask counterparties for

  • A verifiable receipt for each payment, or a bank-issued confirmation where that is not possible.
  • The payer's legal name exactly as on the invoice.
  • The invoice number in the payment reference.
  • For Nigerian payers deducting WHT, the credit note to go with the payment.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme partners with VerifyDoc.ai. Any Pryme customer can generate a regular or a verifiable receipt or statement, and anyone can verify that a verifiable one is genuine and unaltered. For a UAE business with Nigerian dealings, a Pryme Business Account puts the payment and its verifiable record in one place.

Questions people ask

What is a verifiable receipt?

A receipt that anyone it is shared with can check is genuine and has not been altered since it was issued, without contacting the issuer.

Is a screenshot proof of payment for a UAE-Nigeria transfer?

It is weak evidence: screenshots are easy to edit. Ask for a bank-issued or verifiable document before releasing goods.

Does a verified receipt prove goods were delivered?

No. It proves the payment document is genuine and unaltered; delivery needs its own evidence.

How long should I keep payment proofs in the UAE?

UAE corporate tax records must be kept for seven years after the end of the tax period.
