Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Transport in Ilorin: okada, keke, bus fares and a monthly budget

How people get around Ilorin by okada, keke and bus, reported fares on routes like Olunlade to Post Office, and how to build a monthly commuting budget.

The short answer

Most people in Ilorin move by commercial motorcycle (okada), tricycle (keke) and shared taxis or minibuses on the main roads. Fares are not fixed by the state and follow fuel prices: in April 2024 Gazette Nigeria reported Olunlade to Post Office at ₦400 and okada trips within areas rising to ₦250–₦300. A daily commuter making two shared trips each way should plan for several thousand naira a day.

The main ways to get around

Okada (commercial motorcycle)
Quick for short trips into streets and estates and the usual way from a junction to your door. You negotiate the fare.
Keke (tricycle)
Runs set routes and short drops, carries three or four passengers, fare per person, slightly cheaper per seat than okada for the same distance.
Shared taxi or minibus
Runs along the main roads between major junctions and garages. Fares are per seat and change with fuel prices.
Charter
Hiring a keke, taxi or ride-hailing car for yourself. Several times the shared fare.

Riders and drivers in Ilorin belong to associations, and The ICIR reported in 2024 that okada and keke riders' associations had collected personal income tax from members on behalf of the state. That is one reason fares across a route tend to move together.

Reported fares on common routes

Kwara does not publish an official fare table. The most specific recent figures we found are from a Gazette Nigeria report in April 2024, during a fuel scarcity, when petrol sold at ₦750 to ₦900 a litre at stations and up to ₦1,500 on the black market:

Route or tripBeforeReported in April 2024
Olunlade to Offa Garage₦100₦200
Offa Garage to Mandate Market₦200₦350 – ₦400 (after bargaining)
Olunlade to Post OfficeNot stated₦400
Okada within an area to a junction₦150 – ₦200₦250 – ₦300

How fares are worked out in practice

  • Distance and drops. Shared rides charge per stage, from one junction or garage to the next. A long journey is often two or three stages.
  • Fuel. When the pump price rises, fares follow within days.
  • Time and weather. Rush hour, night trips and heavy rain push okada and keke fares up.
  • Bargaining. Charter and okada fares are negotiated; agree before you sit down.

Worked example: a monthly commute

Aisha lives in a street off Tanke and works near Post Office. Each morning she takes an okada to the main road, then a shared ride towards town, then a short keke to her office; each evening she reverses it.

LegExample fare one wayPer day (two ways)
Okada, street to main road₦300₦600
Shared ride, Tanke towards town₦500₦1,000
Keke, last drop to office₦300₦600
Daily total₦1,100₦2,200

Over 22 working days that is 22 × ₦2,200 = ₦48,400 a month. Add four weekend trips at ₦1,500 each (₦6,000) and a ₦5,000 buffer for rain or fuel rises, and her monthly transport budget comes to ₦59,400. If she walked the first leg on dry days, cutting the okada for half the month, she would save 11 × ₦600 = ₦6,600.

Cutting the cost

  1. Walk the first or last short leg where it is safe and practical.
  2. Use shared rides rather than charters for regular trips.
  3. Leave a little earlier to avoid rush-hour pricing.
  4. Agree a weekly rate with one okada rider for a fixed daily route; some riders accept this.
  5. Share a charter with colleagues going the same way.

Safety

  • Okada passengers should insist on a helmet where available and avoid riders who speed or carry two passengers.
  • At night, prefer known riders or ride-hailing with trip sharing switched on.
  • Keep fares in small notes or pay by transfer to the rider, and do not show large amounts of cash.

For travel out of Ilorin, see Ilorin to Lagos or Abuja; for the full picture of monthly spending, see cost of living in Ilorin and our general guide to budgeting for transport.

Paying fares without cash

Some riders and drivers in Ilorin accept transfers, especially for charter trips and regular passengers. Paying by transfer means you do not need small notes and you have a record if there is a dispute. Before you pay, confirm the account name matches the rider, and wait until the trip is done. For shared rides, cash is still common, so keep small notes for the first and last legs of the day. If you commute on a fixed route, a weekly arrangement with a trusted rider, paid by transfer at the start of the week, can work out cheaper than paying trip by trip; agree what happens if you miss a day.

Where Pryme fits

Transport is one of the sectors in Spaces in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt; Spaces does not operate in Ilorin. In any city, a Flexible Savings Box can hold a month's transport money apart from other spending (Savings Boxes).

Questions people ask

How much is okada fare in Ilorin?

There is no official fare. Gazette Nigeria reported in April 2024 that okada trips within areas rose from ₦150–₦200 to ₦250–₦300 during a fuel scarcity. Ask regular riders on your route for today's fare.

How much is transport from Tanke to Post Office Ilorin?

It depends on the stages and today's fuel price. In our labelled example, a combination of okada, shared ride and keke costs about ₦1,100 one way.

How much should I budget for transport monthly in Ilorin?

In our labelled example, a daily commuter spends about ₦59,400 a month including weekends and a buffer. Your figure depends on distance and mode.

Why do transport fares in Ilorin keep rising?

Fares follow the pump price of petrol. When fuel rose or was scarce in April 2024, some Ilorin fares doubled.
