Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Cities

Ilorin to Lagos or Abuja: flight, bus or train, and the cost

Getting from Ilorin to Lagos or Abuja: flights from Ilorin airport, buses from the parks, the road-and-rail option via Ibadan, and the real cost.

The short answer

From Ilorin you can fly to Lagos or Abuja from Ilorin International Airport, take a bus or shared car from the city's motor parks, or, for Lagos, go by road to Ibadan and take the Lagos–Ibadan train. Flying is fastest but costs the most; road is cheapest but slowest and fares follow fuel prices. Compare door-to-door cost and time, not just the ticket.

Your three options at a glance

OptionLagosAbujaMain trade-off
Fly from Ilorin International AirportYes, domestic flightsYes, domestic flightsFastest in the air; dearest; schedules vary
Bus or shared car from a parkYesYesCheapest; long road journey; fuel-driven fares
Road to Ibadan, then trainYes, Ibadan (Moniya) to Lagos (Ebute Metta)Not applicableAvoids Lagos road traffic for the last leg

Flying from Ilorin

Ilorin International Airport handles domestic flights linking the city to Lagos and Abuja, according to a 2026 travel guide. The number of daily flights and which airlines fly the route change with season and demand, so check each airline's own booking site or a booking app for current schedules and fares. Allow for weather delays, especially in the rainy season and harmattan.

To compare fairly, add the cost of getting to the airport in Ilorin, and from the airport to your final address in Lagos or Abuja, which can be significant in both cities.

By road from the parks

Buses and shared cars for Lagos and Abuja leave from Ilorin's motor parks, commonly early in the day. Fares are set by the transport companies and unions, not by the state, and they follow the pump price of petrol. When fuel was scarce in April 2024, Gazette Nigeria reported some Ilorin city fares doubling within days, and intercity fares move the same way. Ask at the park or call the company the day before you travel.

  • Book with an established company where you can, and keep your ticket or receipt
  • Travel early so you arrive in daylight
  • Keep valuables and phone on your person, not in the boot
  • Share your vehicle's details and your expected arrival time with someone

Road plus rail via Ibadan

For Lagos, some travellers go by road from Ilorin to Ibadan, then take the Lagos–Ibadan train from Moniya to Mobolaji Johnson station at Ebute Metta. A 2026 Intercity guide lists departures at 8am and 4pm from each end, a journey of about 2.5 to 3 hours, and fares in classes from Standard to First, bookable online or at the station. Fares there come from secondary reports, so check the operator's booking channel before you travel. This option makes most sense if your Lagos destination is near Ebute Metta and you want to avoid the Lagos end of the expressway.

Worked example: comparing the true cost to Lagos

Cost itemFlyBusRoad + train
Getting to the start point in Ilorin₦5,000₦2,000₦2,000
Main ticket(s)₦120,000₦20,000₦15,000 to Ibadan + ₦6,000 train
Getting to final address in Lagos₦15,000₦8,000₦5,000
Food and incidentals₦3,000₦5,000₦5,000
Total one way₦143,000₦35,000₦33,000

In this example flying costs about four times as much as going by road, but may save most of a working day. If your time is worth more than the ₦108,000 difference between flight and bus, or you have a tight appointment, flying can still make sense. For a family of four, the flight would be about ₦572,000 against ₦140,000 by bus, and the gap matters more.

What to check before you book

  1. Your actual door-to-door time for each option, not just the flight or train time.
  2. Today's fare from the airline, transport company or train operator.
  3. Baggage rules: airlines charge for extra bags; buses may charge for large loads.
  4. Whether your return trip is on a festival weekend, when fares and demand rise. See how prices move around Eid and the Durbar.
  5. Travel insurance or the company's policy on delays and cancellations.

For getting around once you are back in the city, see transport fares in Ilorin.

Travelling to Abuja

For Abuja, the choice is mainly between a direct flight and a long road journey north-east. The road option is cheapest but takes most of a day, so start early and avoid travelling at night. If you need to be at a morning meeting in Abuja, the bus usually means travelling the day before and paying for a night's stay, which narrows the gap with flying. Add that night's accommodation when you compare. Flights save time but are subject to schedule changes, so leave a margin before any appointment you cannot move, such as an embassy interview.

Whatever you choose, keep your ticket, boarding pass or bus receipt until the trip is over. If a flight is cancelled or a bus breaks down, that receipt is what you need to claim a refund or a seat on the next departure.

Where Pryme fits

Transport is one of the Spaces sectors in Lagos and Abuja, and Loans on Spaces can be spent with transport merchants in Spaces there; any limit is offered on how your account is run and shown in full before you accept (Spaces). Read paying transport fares on credit first.

Questions people ask

Yes. Ilorin International Airport has domestic flights to Lagos and Abuja. Schedules and airlines vary, so check the airline's booking site for current flights.

How much is bus fare from Ilorin to Lagos?

Fares are set by transport companies and follow fuel prices. In our labelled example the bus ticket is ₦20,000; call the park or company the day before for today's fare.
