What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Is there a Nigerian consulate in Houston?

No. Texans use one of three US missions, an outreach session or contactless renewal. What the official pages show and how far you will travel.

The short answer

No. Nigeria's missions in the US are the Embassy in Washington DC and the consulates general in New York and Atlanta; none is in Houston. Texas is not on the New York consulate's list of states, and the Atlanta consulate has run passport sessions in Houston (2022) and Arlington (2024), so Texans usually deal with Atlanta. Confirm with Atlanta before booking, and check whether contactless renewal covers your case.

Houston has a large Nigerian community, and "Nigerian consulate Houston" is a common search. Some sites list addresses in Houston that are travel agents, visa processors or BVN centres. None of those is a Nigerian government mission. This guide sets out who serves Texas and what Houston residents can do locally.

By road Houston to Atlanta is a long day's drive, and most people fly. Book the appointment first and the flight second.

Why Texas points to Atlanta

The Atlanta consulate's notices show it bringing passport capture to Texas. Its notice of 11 July 2022 announced an exercise in Houston from 29 to 31 July 2022 at Trinity Event Center, 8402 Howell Sugarland Road, by appointment only, with collection three months later, and the notice named residents of Tulsa, Oklahoma too. A notice of 6 September 2024 announced another at 1900 W Arbrook Blvd, Arlington, from 11 to 15 September 2024. Neither notice is a jurisdiction list, so ring Atlanta on (770) 394-6261 or (770) 394-4671, or email info@nigeria-consulate-atl.org, to confirm.

The Atlanta home page listed no upcoming outreach sessions when we read it in October 2026. Sessions are announced as notices, often a few weeks ahead.

What you can do from Houston

Renew contactless

NIS said contactless renewal went live in the US on 11 April 2025. It uses the NIS app to capture your face and fingerprints, so a straight adult renewal may need no travel. First passports, children and data changes still need in-person capture. See contactless renewal in the US.

BVN enrolment

NIBSS lists BVN diaspora centres in Texas, including OIS Services at Suite 745, 9894 Bissonnet Street, Houston, TX 77036, and File Solutions at The Woodlands, with a $45 fee at most centres. These are for the bank verification number only, not passports.

NIN enrolment

The NIN is done by NIMC-licensed private partners, not by missions. See NIN enrolment in Houston.

Planning a trip to Atlanta

  1. Confirm with Atlanta that it serves your Texas address.
  2. Complete the NIS form with Atlanta as the processing office, pay, and book the biometric slot. NIS lists US$150 (32 pages) and US$230 (64 pages), Apr 2026.
  3. Choose a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday; those are Atlanta's consular days.
  4. Pack the full document list for your case, including the old booklet and a stamped return envelope, so the passport can be posted to Houston.
  5. Book refundable travel where you can, in case the slot moves.

Offices that are not missions

Search results for a Houston consulate often show private businesses. Some are licensed for specific jobs, such as BVN capture or visa processing, and some are agents. Passport fees are paid on the NIS portal itself. Before you hand over a passport or money, ask three questions: which government body licenses this office, for what service, and where that is written on the government's own site. If the answer is vague, go to the mission directly.

Is a Houston consulate planned?

We found no official announcement of a Nigerian consulate in Houston on the mission and NIS pages we read in October 2026. Some websites and social posts say otherwise, but a mission is announced by the government that opens it. Treat any claim of a Houston consulate as unconfirmed until it appears on a Nigerian government site.

Urgent travel to Nigeria

If your passport has expired and you must travel at short notice, an Emergency Travel Certificate is the usual answer; it gets you to Nigeria, not back. Atlanta's 2021 charges notice lists ETC fees of $150 and $250, paid by POS debit card or money order. Call the consulate first, because an ETC is issued at the mission, and see emergency travel certificates from a US mission.

Where Pryme fits

A trip to Atlanta is usually paid in dollars, while any correction fee in Nigeria is in naira. A Pryme account opened from the US holds both (multicurrency), and the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve a conversion.

Questions people ask

Which Nigerian consulate covers Texas?

Texas is not in the New York consulate's list. The Atlanta consulate has run passport sessions in Houston and Arlington, which points to Atlanta; confirm with the consulate before booking.

Is the OIS office in Houston a Nigerian consulate?

No. NIBSS lists OIS Services in Houston as a BVN enrolment centre. It is a private operator, not a mission.

When is the next Nigerian passport outreach in Houston?

None was listed on the Atlanta consulate's site in October 2026. Watch its notices.

Can I renew my Nigerian passport in Houston without travelling?

If you qualify for contactless renewal, yes; NIS launched it in the US in April 2025. Otherwise you need an appointment at a mission or an outreach session.
