Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Tech skills Nigerian employers are hiring for in 2026

What Nigerian job listings and 2026 skills reporting show about data, cloud, product and cybersecurity hiring, and the realistic routes into each.

The short answer

On Jobberman on 20 October 2026, "Software & Data" had 93 of 3,827 open listings and "Engineering & Technology" had 303, so local board demand for pure tech roles is real but narrower than the hype suggests. The skills most named for 2026 are data analysis, cloud, cybersecurity, AI and machine learning, and product and UX design; the usual entry routes are free government training such as 3MTT, portfolio projects, support or junior roles, and freelance work.

Tech is often sold as the fastest route to a good income in Nigeria. Some of that is true: tech roles are among the better-paid jobs, and they can be done for foreign employers. But the number of local openings is smaller than social media suggests, and employers hire for specific, demonstrable skills, not for "I did a course". This guide looks at what the listings and the reporting actually say, then at how people get in.

What the listings show

We recorded Jobberman's public job page on 20 October 2026. Of 3,827 jobs found, the function filter showed 93 under "Software & Data" and 303 under "Engineering & Technology". The second group is broad: it includes field engineers and technical maintenance as well as IT. By comparison, Sales had 484 listings that day.

Jobberman function, 20 Oct 2026ListingsShare of all listings
Software & Data932.4%
Engineering & Technology3037.9%
All functions3,827100%

We did not capture counts for individual skills such as "cloud" or "cybersecurity", and MyJobMag did not display category counts on the day we checked. Many tech roles are also advertised on company careers pages, LinkedIn and remote boards, so a local board undercounts tech demand. The fair reading: local generalist boards carry a modest number of tech roles, and you should expect to look in several places. Our sister piece on skills that pay according to job boards covers the non-tech categories.

The skills named for 2026

A BusinessDay report in December 2025 listed six skill areas for Nigerians in 2026. It did not cite job-board counts, but its list matches the tracks government training has focused on.

Data analytics and data science
Collecting, cleaning and interpreting data with SQL, Python, Excel and visualisation tools. Common entry titles: data analyst, reporting analyst, business intelligence analyst.
Cloud computing
Running systems on AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud. Often reached through IT support or system administration first.
Cybersecurity
Protecting networks, customer data and financial systems. Roles include security analyst and cloud security engineer; banks and fintechs are frequent employers.
AI and machine learning
Building or applying models. Usually needs strong programming and maths; generative AI work is the newest strand.
Product management and UX/UI design
Deciding what gets built and designing how it works. BusinessDay calls product and design more accessible entry points.
Software development
Web, mobile, API and backend work, still central to most tech teams.

Entry routes that work

Free structured training

The federal 3 Million Technical Talent programme (3MTT), hosted by NITDA, launched with twelve tracks including data analysis and visualisation, cloud computing, cybersecurity, product management, UI/UX design and software development. A 2026 fellowship track run with Airtel was listed as open on a rolling basis and free. See how to apply for 3MTT. Corps members can also pick software development or AI and mobile app tracks under NYSC SAED; see NYSC SAED explained.

A portfolio over a certificate

Employers ask what you have built. For data, that is a public dashboard using real Nigerian data. For cybersecurity, a write-up of a home lab. For product, a case study of a feature you redesigned. Three solid projects usually say more than five certificates.

Put the work where a recruiter can see it in under a minute: a short portfolio page or a public repository, each project with one paragraph on the problem, the tools used and the result. Link it from your CV and your LinkedIn profile. If you worked with a small business, ask for a one-line reference you can quote, with their permission. Recruiters reading dozens of applications for a junior data or support role tend to shortlist the candidate whose work they can open, not the one with the longest list of courses.

Side doors

  • IT support and help desk roles, which lead to cloud and security.
  • Reporting or operations roles in banks and fintechs, which lead to data analysis.
  • Customer support at a tech company, which leads to product and QA.
  • Freelance work for local businesses: dashboards, websites, automations.

For more on the no-degree path, read getting into tech without a degree.

What to check before you commit

  1. Search the skill on two or three boards every week for a month and note the count and seniority asked for.
  2. Read ten listings and list the tools that repeat (SQL, Power BI, AWS, a specific certification).
  3. Price the learning: free programmes first, paid bootcamps only after comparing outcomes they can evidence.
  4. Be wary of courses that promise a job. Training providers in 3MTT were required to aim for job placement, but no course can guarantee an employer's decision.
  5. Plan a first paid project within three months, even a small one, so you learn what clients actually want.

Where Pryme fits

Tech skills are among the easiest to sell abroad. A Pryme account gives local details for USD, GBP and EUR as well as NGN, so a foreign client can pay you in their currency and the money stays in that currency until you choose to convert it.

Questions people ask

Which tech skill is most in demand in Nigeria?

Data analysis, cloud, cybersecurity, software development and product design are the most named for 2026. On Jobberman on 20 October 2026, Software & Data had 93 listings, so check several boards, not one.

Can I get a tech job in Nigeria without a degree?

Many employers accept a strong portfolio and practical experience, especially for support, data and design roles. Some larger firms still ask for a degree, so read each listing.

Is 3MTT free?

Reporting on the programme says training costs are covered by the organisers, and the 2026 Airtel fellowship track was listed as free. Confirm on the 3MTT portal before you apply.

How many tech jobs are on Jobberman?

On 20 October 2026, 93 listings sat under Software & Data and 303 under the broader Engineering & Technology function, out of 3,827 jobs.
