Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Getting into tech in Nigeria without a degree

Tech roles open to non-graduates, the portfolio evidence employers and clients accept, how to judge a bootcamp's fees, and a realistic timeline.

The short answer

You can get into tech in Nigeria without a degree through roles that hire on demonstrated skill, such as QA testing, IT and customer support, front-end development, data analysis and UI design. What replaces the degree is evidence: a portfolio of real projects, public code or case studies, and references from paid work, built over roughly 6 to 18 months depending on the role and hours you put in.

A degree helps with graduate trainee schemes, banks and some multinationals that filter by qualification. Much of the tech market, particularly start-ups, agencies, remote employers and freelance clients, hires on what you can show. This guide sets out which roles are most open to non-graduates, what evidence to build, how to assess a paid bootcamp, and how long the route usually takes.

Roles most open to non-graduates

RoleWhat you doEvidence that gets you hired
QA or software testerTest apps and websites, write bug reportsSample test plans and bug reports on a public app
IT or technical supportHelp users fix software and accountsSupport certifications, a home lab, clear written explanations
Customer support for tech productsAnswer users, log issues, escalateWriting samples, tool familiarity, references
Front-end developerBuild web pages and interfacesThree to five live projects with public code
Data analystClean data, build reports and dashboardsCase studies using public datasets
UI or product designerDesign screens and flowsA portfolio of redesigns with the reasoning shown
No-code or automation builderSet up tools and workflows for small businessesBefore-and-after examples for real clients

Choose by what you already do well. Someone patient on the phone with good written English often moves fastest through support roles, someone who notices small mistakes suits testing, and someone comfortable with numbers and spreadsheets suits data analysis. Development and design take longer to reach a hireable standard but have a wider range of clients. Picking one role and staying with it for six months beats sampling five.

Some credentials also accept experience in place of a degree. PMI's PMP, for example, accepts 60 months of project experience with a secondary diploma, against 36 months with a bachelor's degree, according to Training Camp's June 2026 guide. That route is long, but it shows that experience can stand in for a degree.

What evidence replaces the degree

  • Projects that solve a real problem. A booking page for a local salon beats a tutorial clone.
  • Public work. Code on a public repository, designs in a portfolio, reports with your method written up.
  • Paid work, however small. A ₦30,000 job for a real client, labelled here as an example, carries more weight than a certificate.
  • References. One line from a client or team lead who can confirm what you did.
  • Clear writing. Remote employers read your messages before they see your code.

Our guide to a portfolio with no clients yet covers how to build the first pieces.

Bootcamps: how to judge the fee

We did not verify current published fees for Nigerian bootcamps for this article, and fees vary widely between providers and tracks. Before paying, ask each provider for these in writing:

  1. The full fee, including any payment plan, and what happens if you stop halfway.
  2. The refund policy and its deadline.
  3. Whether the fee depends on getting a job afterwards, and the exact terms if so.
  4. How many hours of live teaching and mentor review you get.
  5. Outcomes for recent cohorts, with how they were measured.

The FTC's job-scams guidance warns that honest employers never ask you to pay to get a job, and that starter kits, training and certifications sold as a route to a job are a common trick. A bootcamp is a legitimate purchase only when it sells teaching, not a promised job. Free routes are listed in free places to learn a paying skill.

A realistic timeline

These are labelled estimates for someone studying 10 to 15 hours a week alongside other work, not promises:

StageExample durationMilestone
Foundations2 to 4 monthsCan complete guided exercises without help
First projects2 to 4 monthsThree portfolio pieces you can explain
First paid work1 to 6 monthsOne or more small paid jobs or an internship
First role3 to 6 months of applyingJunior job, contract or steady freelance clients

Adding the ranges gives roughly 8 to 20 months; people already working near tech, such as in customer support or operations, often move faster. On freelance platforms the rates clients pay give a sense of the market: Upwork's hiring guides list virtual assistants at $10 to $20 an hour and content writers at $15 to $40 an hour, before platform fees.

Steps

  1. Pick one role from the table and read 20 current adverts to see the skills they list.
  2. Learn the three skills that appear most often.
  3. Build three projects that use them on real problems.
  4. Get one piece of paid or volunteer work and a reference.
  5. Apply for junior roles and freelance tasks at the same time; see remote software jobs for Nigerians.

Where Pryme fits

Early tech income often comes from foreign clients in dollars or pounds. A Pryme Personal Account gives you local USD, GBP and EUR details, and Swap shows the rate and fee before you convert. See multicurrency accounts and Swap.

Questions people ask

Can I get a tech job in Nigeria without a degree?

Yes, in roles that hire on demonstrated skill, such as QA testing, support, front-end development, data analysis and design. A portfolio and references replace the degree.

Which tech skill is easiest to learn without a degree?

QA testing, technical support and no-code automation have the gentlest start; front-end development and data analysis take longer but have wider demand.

How long does it take to get into tech from scratch?

As a labelled estimate, about 8 to 20 months at 10 to 15 hours a week, from foundations to a first role.

Are tech bootcamps in Nigeria worth it?

Only if the full fee, refund policy and teaching hours are clear in writing. Never pay for a promised job; the FTC warns that is a common scam pattern.
