Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Taptap Send to a Nigerian bank: delivery time from the US

What Taptap Send's speed claim for Nigerian bank deposits covers, why a credit can still be late, what cannot be reversed, and the steps to take.

The short answer

Taptap Send says 95% of its transfers are delivered in under three minutes, based on its internal data from 26 December 2025, and pays into major Nigerian banks including Access, First Bank, GTB, UBA and Zenith. A transfer can still be slower when the account details or name are wrong, when the receiving bank's systems are slow, or when a check is needed. Wrong details cannot be reversed, so check them before you confirm.

Most Taptap Send transfers to Nigerian bank accounts land within minutes, which is why a delay worries people. This guide sets out what Taptap Send's Nigeria page says about speed as at October 2026, what the headline figure means, and what to do if the money has not arrived.

What Taptap Send says about speed

Taptap Send's Nigeria page says: "95% of our transfers are delivered in under 3 minutes", with a footnote that this is based on internal data from 26 December 2025. It names fast bank deposits to Access, First Bank, Zenith and "all major Nigerian banks", and lists many by name, including GTB, UBA, Stanbic IBTC, Standard Chartered, Fidelity, FCMB, Ecobank, Union Bank, Sterling, Wema, Polaris, Keystone, Heritage, Unity, Jaiz, Providus and Globus.

Two things follow. The figure is Taptap Send's own measurement on one date, across its transfers; it is not a promise for your transfer. And it leaves 5% that take longer. The page does not list causes of delay.

Why a bank credit can be late

These are common reasons transfers to Nigerian banks are slow, not a list Taptap Send has published.

  • Details that do not match. A wrong digit in the 10-digit account number, or a recipient name that differs from the account name, can hold or fail the credit. Our guide to name mismatches explains why.
  • The receiving bank. A bank's own systems can be slow or down, especially at weekends and month-end.
  • Checks. A first transfer, a large one or an unusual pattern can be reviewed before it is released.
  • The settlement route. Since 1 May 2026 the CBN has required licensed money transfer operators to route Nigerian payouts in naira through dedicated settlement accounts with authorised dealer banks, so a problem at a settlement bank can slow credits.
  • Your own payment. If your card payment is declined or reversed, the transfer will not complete.

What your recipient can check at their end

Many "missing" transfers have in fact arrived. SMS alerts from Nigerian banks are not always reliable, so ask the recipient to open their bank app or internet banking and look at the account history, not just their messages. If the credit is not there, they can ask their bank whether an inward transfer is pending or was rejected, and give the bank your transfer reference. If the account is new, dormant or restricted, for example because its BVN details are incomplete, the bank may refuse the credit even though the money left your card. In that case the bank, not Taptap Send, has to explain what it needs. Before the next transfer, ask the recipient to send you a screenshot of the account name exactly as their bank app shows it.

Wrong details cannot be undone

Taptap Send is direct about this: if you send to a wrong number or account, "there is nothing we can do as the funds cannot be reversed." It says you can edit transfer details before the final payment confirmation, and asks you to double-check every detail. Our guide to sending to the wrong Nigerian account covers what may still be possible through the recipient's bank, and bank details your family must give lists what to collect.

Your rights if it is late

Transfers by US consumers above $15 are covered by the CFPB's remittance rule. If money is not available by the date on your receipt, that is an error you can report within 180 days; the provider generally has 90 days to investigate and must refund or resend for certain errors. Our guide to your rights when a transfer goes wrong explains the process.

Worked example

Example only. Femi in Minneapolis sends $250 to his sister's Zenith account on a Saturday evening. An hour later she has nothing. He checks the transfer in the app: the account number is right, but he typed her married surname while the account is still in her maiden name. He contacts Taptap Send support with the transfer reference and explains the name difference. His sister meanwhile asks her bank whether any credit is pending. Next time Femi copies the name exactly as the bank app shows it.

Steps if money has not arrived

  1. Check the transfer status and the recipient details in the app.
  2. Ask the recipient to check their bank app and statement, not just SMS alerts.
  3. Allow for the receiving bank's hours if it is a weekend or holiday.
  4. Contact Taptap Send support (support@taptapsend.com or in the app) with the transfer reference.
  5. If it is still missing after the date on your receipt, report it as an error in writing.

Where Pryme fits

If your family keeps money with Pryme in Nigeria, their naira sits in an account held by a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank, and the app records every credit. Outside Nigeria, Pryme's services are provided through regulated partners. See how it works.
