Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ireland

Starting a limited company in Ireland on Stamp 4

Stamp 4 lets you establish and operate a business in Ireland. What that permits, the CRO steps to form a company, and what to set up after.

The short answer

Yes. Irish Immigration Service Delivery says a Stamp 4 holder can establish and operate a business and can take up employment without an employment permit. Forming a limited company then follows the normal CRO process: choose a name and type, fix an Irish registered office, appoint directors, and file the incorporation online through CORE.

What Stamp 4 allows

Irish Immigration Service Delivery (ISD), part of the Department of Justice, publishes what each registration stamp allows. For Stamp 4 its page (updated June 2026) says: "You can take up employment and are not required to hold an Employment Permit" and "You can establish and operate a business." That is the widest business permission among the common stamps. By contrast, the same page says Stamp 1G graduates are not permitted to operate a business or be self-employed, and Stamp 2 students must not engage in any other business or trade. Our guide on running a business on Stamp 1G or Stamp 2 covers those limits.

Stamp 4 does not need to be tied to the business. You can keep a job and run a company on the side, or run the company full time. The permission is personal: if your stamp changes, check the new conditions before you continue trading.

Company or sole trader?

A Stamp 4 holder can also trade as a sole trader. The choice is about liability, tax and how you want to be seen by customers and lenders, not immigration.

Sole traderPrivate limited company (LTD)
RegistrationRevenue registration; CRO business name only if you trade under another nameIncorporation at the CRO, then Revenue registration
LiabilityYou personallyLimited to the company, subject to the law on directors' duties
Ongoing filingYour own tax returnAnnual return at the CRO plus company tax filings
AddressYour place of businessRegistered office in the State

If you go the sole trader route, see sole trader registration on Form TR1.

Steps to form the company

  1. Pick the company type. Most small businesses use the private company limited by shares (LTD). The CRO's company types page lists the alternatives.
  2. Choose and check the name. Search the CRO register and trade marks before you commit.
  3. Fix the registered office. The CRO requires a physical address in the State that An Post can deliver to; see the registered office rule.
  4. Appoint directors and a secretary. Check the EEA-resident director rule if any director lives outside the EEA; our EEA director guide explains it.
  5. File the incorporation. The CRO's online route is the Ordinary A1 scheme through CORE, its filing system. The CRO publishes daily processing times for A1 submissions on its home page.
  6. Record beneficial owners. After incorporation, file with the Register of Beneficial Ownership; our RBO filing guide covers the details.

After incorporation

  • Register the company for tax with Revenue and work out whether VAT registration is needed.
  • Open a business account in the company's name.
  • Diary the first annual return date at the CRO.
  • Keep the registered office record current; the CRO warns that an out-of-date address can mean missed strike-off warnings.

Worked example

Example only. Chiamaka, on Stamp 4 in Cork, plans a catering company supplying Nigerian dishes to events. She forms an LTD with herself as director and her brother, who is also resident in Ireland, as secretary. The registered office is her accountant's office. Because the company handles food, it must also register as a food business before trading; see licences for a Nigerian restaurant. None of this needs further immigration permission, because Stamp 4 already allows her to establish and operate a business.

Mistakes that cost Stamp 4 founders time

  • Using a home address abroad. The registered office has to be in the State; a Lagos or London address will not do.
  • Treating the CRO certificate as tax registration. Incorporation and Revenue registration are separate steps, and invoices should wait until both are in place.
  • Letting a stamp lapse. Stamp 4 is the reason you may run the business. Renew in good time and keep the card or letter where the bank and accountant can see a copy.
  • Mixing money. Paying company costs from a personal account, or personal costs from the company, makes the accounts harder to prepare and harder to defend.
  • Forgetting family directors abroad. If a relative in Nigeria will be a director, check the EEA-resident director rule before naming them.

What to check first

  1. Your current stamp and its expiry date, against ISD's published conditions.
  2. The company name, on the CRO register and for trade marks.
  3. An Irish registered office address and the owner's consent.
  4. Who the directors and secretary will be, and where each lives.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Business Account holds euro and naira with local details for each and can be opened from any country, which helps a new company that buys from Lagos or sells to Nigerian clients. Business accounts include a Chief of Staff and Finance, Compliance, Sales and Customer Support agents that prepare work for a person to approve.

Questions people ask

Can I open a company in Ireland on Stamp 4?

Yes. ISD's stamps page says Stamp 4 holders can establish and operate a business, and no employment permit is needed to work.

Do I need permission from immigration to be a director on Stamp 4?

ISD's page does not require separate permission for Stamp 4 holders to establish or operate a business. Check the page again if your stamp or conditions change.

Can I keep my job and run a company on Stamp 4?

Yes. Stamp 4 allows both employment without a permit and establishing a business, so the two can run together, subject to your employment contract.

How do I register the company?

Through the CRO's online system, CORE, using the A1 incorporation route, after choosing a name, an Irish registered office and directors.
