Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to reverse a wrong transfer on Stanbic IBTC

Sent money to the wrong account from Stanbic IBTC? Who to call, the indemnity, how the recipient's bank is involved and how long recovery takes.

The short answer

Call Stanbic IBTC immediately on 0201 2709 676 or 0201 4222 222 with the session ID, amount, date and the account you paid, and ask it to send a recall request to the recipient's bank. Stanbic IBTC cannot debit someone else's account; the recipient's bank asks its customer to return the money, so speed and a signed indemnity matter most.

Sending money to the wrong account is one of the most common banking mistakes in Nigeria, and transfers settle in seconds. What happens next depends on how fast you act and whether the person who received the money agrees to return it. This guide is for Stanbic IBTC customers who have just made the mistake.

The first 30 minutes

  1. Do not send a second transfer to "test" or correct the first; deal with the wrong one first.
  2. Find the receipt in the app or the SMS alert and note the session ID, date, time, amount, recipient's name and bank.
  3. Call Stanbic IBTC on 0201 2709 676 or 0201 4222 222 (from abroad, +234 700 909 9099). Say it is a wrong transfer and ask for a recall to the recipient's bank and a complaint reference.
  4. Put it in writing on the bank's complaint form, on its Complaints and Enquiries page, quoting the reference.
  5. If the recipient's bank has a published contact line, call it too and explain that a recall is coming.

What happens behind the scenes

StageWho actsWhat you can do
Recall requestStanbic IBTC sends a request to the recipient's bankAsk for confirmation it has been sent and the date
HoldThe recipient's bank may place a hold if funds are still thereNothing; this is why speed matters
Customer contactedThe recipient's bank asks its customer to agree to returnProvide anything the bank asks to support your claim
ReturnFunds are sent back if the customer agreesCheck your account and keep the alert
RefusalNo return without consent or a legal orderConsider a police report, a lawyer or a court claim

The indemnity

Banks commonly ask the sender to sign an indemnity: a letter confirming the transfer was a mistake and agreeing to hold the banks harmless if returning the money leads to a dispute. Stanbic IBTC did not publish its form on the pages we checked in October 2026; the branch or contact centre will tell you whether one is needed and how to submit it. Sign it promptly, because some recipient banks wait for it before contacting their customer.

How long it takes

There is no single deadline. A recipient who agrees can return the money within a day. If the recipient cannot be reached or refuses, it can take weeks or not happen without legal action. If Stanbic IBTC does not deal with your complaint, the CBN complaints page says to allow the bank two weeks before escalating to its Consumer Protection Department, with proof that you complained to the bank first. See complaining to the CBN.

When the recipient refuses

Keeping money you know was sent by mistake can lead to civil claims and, in some cases, criminal complaints. This is information, not legal advice. Practical steps include a written demand that keeps a polite tone, a police report with your bank reference, and a civil claim for larger sums. Keep every document. Our guide someone sent money to your account by mistake? explains the other side, including scams where a stranger claims a mistake.

Worked example

Example only. Bola means to pay ₦120,000 rent but types one digit wrong and the money goes to a stranger at another bank. She calls Stanbic IBTC within ten minutes and gets a reference. The recipient's bank places a hold on ₦120,000 still in the account and contacts its customer, who agrees two days later. Bola receives ₦120,000 back. As sender of a transfer of ₦10,000 or more, she also paid the ₦50 stamp duty that applies from 1 January 2026; she asks the bank whether that and the transfer charge will be refunded, since the recall returns the principal.

If you sent it to a wallet or by USSD

A transfer to an account at a microfinance bank, a payment service bank or a fintech wallet follows the same recall process: Stanbic IBTC contacts that institution, which contacts its customer. Give the bank the institution's exact name from your receipt. A transfer made with *909*1# is an ordinary transfer and is recalled the same way; the SMS alert is your receipt. If you think someone else made the transfer from your account, say so at once, because that is fraud, not a wrong transfer, and the bank will treat it differently.

Preventing the next one

  • Read the full name returned by the account lookup before you confirm.
  • Save regular recipients as beneficiaries.
  • Send a small amount first to a new account before the full sum.
  • Lower your daily limit in the app (Profile, "manage transaction limit") so a slip cannot be huge.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme partners with VerifyDoc.ai so customers can generate a verifiable receipt that anyone can check is genuine and unaltered, which helps when you need to prove exactly what you sent and when.

Questions people ask

Can Stanbic IBTC reverse a wrong transfer?

Stanbic IBTC can send a recall request to the recipient's bank, but it cannot take money from another person's account. The recipient must agree, or a legal order is needed.

How do I report a wrong transfer to Stanbic IBTC?

Call 0201 2709 676 or 0201 4222 222 straight away with the session ID, amount, date and recipient details, then follow up on the bank's complaint form.

How long does it take to recover money sent to the wrong account?

If the recipient agrees, it can be a day or two. If not, it can take weeks or need legal action. Escalate to the CBN if the bank has not resolved your complaint after two weeks.

What is an indemnity form for wrong transfer?

A signed letter confirming the transfer was a mistake and holding the banks harmless if returning the money causes a dispute. Ask the branch for its version.
