Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United States

Sending money to a Nigerian mobile wallet from the US

Which US-facing providers say they pay into OPay, PalmPay and other Nigerian wallets, what the recipient must give you, and the wallet limits to check.

The short answer

Several US remittance providers pay naira into Nigerian wallets. As at October 2026, Remitly's pages list mobile wallet and bank deposit for OPay and PalmPay, and WorldRemit's US page names OPay and Paga for mobile money. The recipient needs a fully verified wallet, the wallet number and the name exactly as registered, and enough KYC tier to receive the amount.

Many people in Nigeria now run their day-to-day money through a wallet app rather than a traditional bank account. Paying straight into that wallet saves them a transfer. Here is what US providers say about it, and what to check before you send.

Which providers say they pay to wallets

We checked providers' own pages in October 2026. This is not a ranking and not a complete list; providers change their payout options, so confirm in the app before sending.

Provider pageWallets namedWhat the page says about delivery
Remitly, OPay pageOPayDisbursement by mobile wallet or bank deposit, depending on recipient location
Remitly, PalmPay pagePalmPayMobile wallet or bank deposit, depending on recipient location
Remitly, Nigeria pageMTN Mobile Money, 9 Payment Service Bank, Airtel Smartcash PSB among listed optionsBank deposit, cash pickup, crypto wallet and mobile wallet listed
WorldRemit, US mobile money pageOPay and Paga MoneyListed as instant; recipient must have a fully registered, active account

OPay and PalmPay accounts also carry ordinary 10-digit Nigerian account numbers, which is why some providers treat them as bank deposits rather than a separate wallet payout. If your provider does not list the wallet by name, check whether it appears in the bank list instead.

What the recipient must give you

  • Full name exactly as registered on the wallet. WorldRemit says the name should match the name on the mobile money account. A mismatch is a common reason for failed payouts; see what an OPay receiver must give.
  • The wallet or account number. WorldRemit asks for a 10-digit wallet number without the country code.
  • City and a contact number. WorldRemit asks for both; the contact number can differ from the wallet number.
  • Address. Remitly's PalmPay page lists recipient name, address and PalmPay details.

Wallet limits on the Nigerian side

Nigerian wallets have tiered limits linked to how far the holder has verified their identity. WorldRemit's page sets them out for the wallets it pays into:

KYC levelDaily transfer limitBalance limit
Level 1₦30,000₦300,000
Level 2₦100,000₦500,000
Level 3₦1,000,000No limit

These are WorldRemit's figures as published on its page, which carries no update date; the wallet's own app is the place to confirm the holder's current limits. If you plan to send more than the recipient's tier allows, ask them to upgrade first. The KYC tiers explainer covers what each tier needs.

Wallet or bank account?

A wallet payout suits small, frequent amounts that the recipient will spend through the app, for transport, food or bills. For larger sums, such as rent or school fees, a payout to a full bank account on a higher tier is often less likely to hit a daily ceiling. Ask the recipient which they would rather receive into; many people hold both, and the choice can change from one transfer to the next.

Fees, rate and speed

Remitly's wallet pages say the fee depends on the amount, payment method and delivery speed, and show no fixed figure until you enter an amount; they also note a promotional rate on the first $500 sent for new customers. WorldRemit says it charges the recipient no extra fee, while local operators may charge a cash-out fee under their own policy. Under the CFPB rule, whichever provider you use must show the exchange rate, fees and the amount to be delivered before you pay.

Example

Steps

  1. Ask the recipient for a screenshot of their wallet profile showing the registered name and number.
  2. Ask what tier the wallet is on and whether it can take the amount today.
  3. In your app, choose mobile wallet (or bank deposit, if the wallet appears in the bank list) and select the wallet.
  4. Enter the details exactly, check the delivered naira amount on the disclosure, then pay.
  5. Keep the receipt; you can cancel within 30 minutes unless the money has been collected or deposited, per the CFPB.

Where Pryme fits

If the person at home would rather hold the money than spend it at once, a Pryme account can receive and hold naira and dollars, and Naira savings can go into Savings Boxes. Naira deposits are held by a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank, regulated by the CBN and insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit. Sending from Pryme: how Send works.

Questions people ask

Can I send money to OPay from the USA?

Yes, with providers that support it. As at October 2026 Remitly's OPay page lists mobile wallet and bank deposit, and WorldRemit's US mobile money page names OPay. Check the option in the app before you send.

Can Remitly send to PalmPay?

Remitly publishes a PalmPay page listing mobile wallet and bank deposit, depending on the recipient's location. You need the recipient's name, address and PalmPay details.

Why did my transfer to OPay fail?

Common causes are a name that does not match the wallet registration, a wrong number, or a wallet whose tier cannot take the amount. Ask the recipient to check their profile and limits.

Does the receiver pay a fee on a mobile wallet transfer?

WorldRemit says it does not charge the recipient, but local operators may charge a cash-out fee. Check with the wallet provider.
