Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to register a CAC company in Nigeria from Ireland

Registering a Nigerian limited company from Dublin on the CAC portal: name, address, share capital, NIN, fees and when an accredited agent helps.

The short answer

You can register a Nigerian private limited company from Ireland on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) online portal; CAMA 2020 lets one person form a private company, but its registered office must be in Nigeria. Under CAC's May 2025 fee schedule, name reservation is ₦1,000 and a small or private company pays ₦10,000 per ₦1 million of share capital or part of it, and CAC's published timeline for a new registration is 24 hours.

Plenty of Nigerians in Ireland want a company at home: to run a family business, hold property, employ staff or trade with an Irish company. Nothing in the process requires you to fly to Abuja. What it does require is a Nigerian address, the right identity details and, for most people, a decision about whether to file yourself or use a CAC-accredited agent. This guide uses CAC's own fee schedule and timelines and the text of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 (CAMA), checked October 2026.

What the law requires

  • One person is enough. CAMA s.18(2) allows a single person to form a private company.
  • Minimum issued share capital is ₦100,000 for a private company (s.27(2)).
  • Registered office in Nigeria (s.27(1)(b)). A Dublin address cannot be the registered office; use a family address, an office or a service address you trust to receive official post.
  • Agents are optional. s.36(3) allows the application to be delivered by an agent, but does not require one.
  • Model articles apply by default unless you adopt your own (s.34).

A company whose members are all Nigerian citizens can fall within the CAMA definition of a small company (s.394) if it also meets the turnover and net-asset limits. If any member is an "alien", for example a non-Nigerian spouse, it cannot be a small company, which brings extra duties such as a company secretary (s.330).

Identity: NIN matters

Under the Mandatory Use of the National Identification Number Regulations 2017, as summarised by Templars, a NIN is required for company and business name registration and for CAC post-incorporation filings. If you do not yet have one, enrol before you start; see where to enrol for a NIN in Ireland. CAC's own FAQ does not set out a separate identity-verification step for directors, so follow what the portal asks for at each screen.

Steps on the CAC portal

  1. Create an account on the CAC Integrated Company Registration Portal (icrp.cac.gov.ng). CAC's FAQ says the username can be your email, phone number or accreditation number.
  2. Search for and reserve a name. CAC's timeline for a name search is 4 working hours; a reservation lasts up to 60 days (CAMA s.31).
  3. Complete the incorporation form: registered office, directors, shareholders, share capital and persons with significant control.
  4. Upload documents. CAC accepts JPEG or PNG for pictures and signatures and PDF for documents, up to 5MB each.
  5. Pay the filing fee and stamp duty on the portal. If a payment does not reflect, CAC's FAQ points to "Check Payment Status".
  6. Download the certificate and status report once approved.

What to check first

  • A NIN for every Nigerian director and shareholder, with names in the same order as on the passport.
  • A Nigerian registered office address and someone who will collect post there.
  • Scans of IDs and signatures within CAC's 5MB limit.
  • Whether anyone in the ownership is not a Nigerian citizen, which changes the small-company status and may trigger NIPC registration.
  • Who will be company secretary if the company is not a small company.

What it costs (CAC schedule, May 2025)

ItemFee
Name reservation (company)₦1,000 (₦5,000 for restricted words)
Incorporation, small or private company₦10,000 per ₦1m of share capital or part
Certified true copy, each₦5,000
Status report₦5,000

Example: a private company with ₦1,000,000 of share capital pays ₦1,000 for the name and ₦10,000 to incorporate, ₦11,000 in CAC fees before stamp duty and any agent's charge. With the legal minimum of ₦100,000, the incorporation fee is still ₦10,000, because the schedule charges per ₦1m "or part".

Filing yourself or through an agent

Filing yourself is cheaper and works if your documents are in order. An accredited agent helps when the name is sensitive, the shareholding includes a foreign person or company, or you want someone in Nigeria to handle queries during Irish working hours. If an Irish company or a non-Nigerian will own shares, read whether an Irish company can own a Nigerian subsidiary first: companies with foreign participation must also register with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). The Nigeria library covers CAC rules for foreign-owned companies in more depth.

Where Pryme fits

Once the company is registered, a Pryme Business Account can be opened from any country, with naira held by a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank and EUR, GBP and USD alongside (business account). The Compliance agent can prepare reminders for CAC annual returns; a person approves each action. Annual returns from abroad are covered in CAC annual returns from Ireland.

Questions people ask

Can I register a CAC company while living in Ireland?

Yes. The CAC portal is online and CAMA lets one person form a private company. The registered office must be a Nigerian address.

How much is CAC company registration in 2026?

CAC's May 2025 schedule lists name reservation at ₦1,000 and incorporation at ₦10,000 per ₦1m of share capital or part for small and private companies, plus stamp duty.

Do I need a NIN to register a company with CAC?

The NIN Regulations 2017, as summarised by Templars, require a NIN for company registration and CAC post-incorporation filings.

How long does CAC registration take?

CAC's service timeline gives 24 hours for a new company registration and 4 working hours for a name search, once documents are complete.
