Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Petitioning a sibling for a green card: costs and wait

What a US citizen pays to petition a brother or sister in Nigeria, and why the F4 queue means a wait measured in well over a decade.

The short answer

A US citizen petitioning a sibling in Nigeria pays, on the State Department's fee page, $675 for the I-130 petition and later $325 per person for the immigrant visa, plus an affidavit of support. The bigger cost is time: the October 2026 Visa Bulletin shows the sibling (F4) category reaching only priority dates from 22 October 2011, so cases filed now face a wait of well over a decade.

Who can file and which category it is

Sibling cases sit in the fourth family preference, F4, which the Visa Bulletin describes as "Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens". The label tells you two things: the petitioner must be a US citizen, and an adult. A permanent resident cannot petition a brother or sister in this category. If you naturalise later, you can file then. Your sibling's place in the queue is the priority date shown on the I-130 receipt notice.

F4 is also capped. The bulletin gives the annual limit as 65,000, "plus any numbers not required by first three preferences". Demand from every country far exceeds that, which is why the queue moves slowly.

The wait, read from the Visa Bulletin

Nigeria is not listed separately in the bulletin, so Nigerian-born siblings fall under "All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed". The October 2026 figures for that column:

CategoryFinal action dateDate for filing
F1 (unmarried sons and daughters of citizens)22 Jan 20201 Feb 2020
F2B (unmarried adult sons and daughters of permanent residents)22 Aug 20191 Sep 2019
F3 (married sons and daughters of citizens)22 Oct 20141 Nov 2014
F4 (siblings of adult citizens)22 Oct 20111 Nov 2011

A final action date of 22 October 2011 means a visa can be issued in October 2026 only to F4 applicants whose petition was filed before that day: roughly a 15-year gap. That gap is not a forecast. The date can move forward, stand still or retreat from month to month, so a petition filed today could take longer or shorter than 15 years. Check the bulletin each month once your case is active.

The money, stage by stage

Because the case stretches over many years, the costs arrive in two clusters: one now, one when the priority date becomes current.

StageCostWhen
Form I-130 petition$675 (State Department fee page, collected for USCIS)At filing
Immigrant visa application$325 per personWhen the case reaches the National Visa Center stage
Affidavit of Support (I-864)No USCIS fee; $120 review fee where reviewed domesticallyVisa stage
Medical exam, passports, police certificates, translationsSet by the providerVisa stage
Flights to the USMarket priceAfter the visa is issued

USCIS also publishes its fee on its own pages and in its fee calculator, and fees have been revised during long-running cases before. Budget for the figure in force on the day you pay, not the one you read today.

The affidavit of support, years later

At the visa stage you, as petitioner, must file Form I-864 and meet the 125% poverty guideline line for your household, which includes your sibling and any family members immigrating with them. If your income then is short, a household member or a joint sponsor can help. Our guide to the I-864 income requirement explains the calculation.

A worked example

Example only. Ifeoma, a US citizen in New Jersey, files for her brother in Port Harcourt in November 2026. She pays $675 now. If his priority date becomes current in, say, 2041, the family then pays $325 for him, $325 for his wife and $325 for each child coming with him, plus medical exams and flights. For four people, the visa fees alone would be $1,300 at today's rates, on top of the $675 already paid, so $1,975 in government fees before anything else.

What to plan for in a 15-year case

  • Address changes: tell USCIS and, later, the National Visa Center, whenever you move.
  • Family changes: a marriage, divorce or a child turning 21 can affect who can travel with your sibling. Check the I-130 instructions and seek advice at the time.
  • Your own status: if you die before the case is decided, special rules may apply; ask an immigration lawyer.
  • Documents: birth certificates proving you share a parent, from the National Population Commission or an accepted alternative listed on the State Department's Nigeria reciprocity page.

What the wait does not stop

A pending F4 petition does not give your sibling any right to live in the US while they wait. They can still apply for a visitor visa, but the consular officer will know an immigrant petition is on file and will weigh whether the visit is truly temporary. Many siblings with long-pending petitions travel on visitor visas without trouble; others are refused. It is worth your sibling having a clear, documented reason for each trip.

Where Pryme fits

A long case is mostly paperwork and patience. Keeping your fee receipts and family documents in one place helps; a verifiable receipt made with VerifyDoc.ai can be checked by anyone you share it with. If you support your sibling while they wait, a multicurrency account lets you send naira on your schedule. For other family petitions, see petitioning a spouse and sponsoring parents.

Questions people ask

Can a green card holder petition a brother in Nigeria?

No. The sibling category in the Visa Bulletin is for brothers and sisters of adult US citizens. A permanent resident would need to naturalise first.

How long is the wait for a sibling green card from Nigeria?

The October 2026 Visa Bulletin shows F4 final action at 22 October 2011 for all chargeability areas, including Nigeria, which implies a wait of around 15 years for cases filed now. It can change monthly.

How much does it cost to petition a sibling?

The State Department's fee page lists $675 for the I-130 and $325 per person for the immigrant visa, plus a $120 affidavit review where it applies, and costs such as medical exams.

Can my sibling's wife and children come too?

Read the I-130 instructions and the State Department's guidance for your sibling's family situation before you budget, and get advice if anyone may turn 21 during the wait.
