You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to peg a Nigerian salary to the dollar and pay it in naira: the reference rate, the date, collars, PAYE and the contract wording.
A USD-linked salary is set as a dollar amount but paid in naira, converted at a reference rate on a fixed date that the contract names. Nigerian law expects wages in legal tender and Nigerian entities to settle in naira, so the link sits in the calculation, not the payment. Name the rate source (such as the CBN’s NFEM rate), the date, any floor or ceiling, and how PAYE and pension are worked out on the naira figure.
Nigerian professionals who have watched the naira lose value often ask for pay linked to the dollar, and US employers who budget in dollars often find it simpler. Done well, it gives the employee stability and the employer a predictable dollar cost. Done loosely, it creates disputes every month about which rate applies. This guide sets out the mechanics. It is information, not legal or tax advice.
Section 1 of the Labour Act requires wages to be paid in legal tender. The CBN Act makes the naira legal tender and makes refusing it as payment an offence, while allowing the CBN to set conditions for other currencies. TheCable’s summary of the CBN’s 2026 Foreign Exchange Manual says Nigerian entities are to price and settle in naira, with sector exemptions. For a Nigerian employing entity, that points to a naira payment calculated from a dollar reference. Whether a US company can pay dollars directly to a Nigerian employee is a different question, covered in can you pay Nigerian staff in USD.
| Structure | How it works | Who carries FX risk |
|---|---|---|
| Full peg | Salary is $X, paid in naira at the reference rate each payday | Employer |
| Hybrid | Naira base salary plus a dollar-linked allowance | Shared |
| Indexed review | Naira salary, reviewed on set dates against the dollar | Mostly employee between reviews |
Example only. Full peg: $1,500 a month at a reference rate of ₦1,332.47 (the NFEM figure Techeconomy reported for 13 October 2026) gives ₦1,998,705. Hybrid: a ₦1,200,000 base plus a $500 allowance at the same rate (₦666,235) gives ₦1,866,235. If the reference rate moves, only the allowance changes.
Example only. A $1,500 peg with a base rate of ₦1,350 and a 5% collar gives a floor of ₦1,282.50 and a ceiling of ₦1,417.50. If the reference rate falls to ₦1,250, pay is calculated at the floor: ₦1,923,750. If it rises to ₦1,500, pay is capped at the ceiling: ₦2,126,250. Reset the base rate on a stated date, for example each January.
All deductions are worked out on the naira amount actually paid. DLA Piper’s August 2026 payroll FAQ says foreign-currency pay is converted to naira at the official CBN rate at the time it is paid, and that this figure is used for PAYE and other statutory deductions. If your reference rate is the NFEM rate on a fixed date, the two will usually be the same or very close; if you use another rate, note both on the payroll record. Pension is a percentage of the naira emoluments, so it moves with the peg.
Show on each payslip the dollar reference, the rate used and its date, and the naira result. That one line prevents most queries.
Decide whether pay rises are given in dollars or in naira. With a full peg, a raise from $1,500 to $1,650 is clean; with a hybrid, say which part rises. Write down what happens to the peg if the employee moves to another role, and how notice pay and leave pay are converted at exit: the simplest rule is the same rate source and date rule as normal payroll, applied to the last payday.
Some staff ask for part of their pay to go to a foreign account. Paying a Nigerian-resident employee outside Nigeria does not remove their Nigerian tax position: DLA Piper notes that an employee living in Nigeria and earning income from foreign employers is required to register for tax. Take advice before agreeing to split pay across countries, and keep the employing entity’s PAYE obligations on whatever it pays.
With a full peg, your dollar cost is fixed but your naira cash need moves every month. Keep the naira buffer sized to the peg at a stronger-naira rate, and convert in time for payday; see cash flow planning and which exchange rate to use. Background on the official rate is in the Nigeria library’s NFEM explainer.
A Pryme Business Account holds the dollars you budget in and the naira you pay out. Convert with Swap when you choose; the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve, so the conversion record sits next to the payroll it funded.
You can set the salary as a dollar reference and pay the naira equivalent at a named rate on a named date. Nigerian rules expect wages in legal tender and Nigerian entities to settle in naira.
Name one source and date in the contract. Many employers use the CBN’s NFEM rate for a set business day before payday, which also lines up with how PAYE is converted.
On the naira amount paid. DLA Piper notes that foreign-currency pay is converted at the official CBN rate at the time paid for PAYE and other statutory deductions.
A floor and ceiling on the conversion rate, so naira pay moves within a set band each month. The base rate is reset on a stated date.
