Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

PalmCredit interest rate, loan limit and tenor explained

PalmCredit's reported APR range, loan amounts and tenors, how its limits grow, and worked examples of the total cost in naira.

The short answer

PalmCredit was reported by Nairametrics in June 2026 to lend ₦10,000 to ₦800,000 over 91 to 365 days at an APR of 24% to 56%. On ₦100,000 over six months that range means about ₦12,000 to ₦28,000 in interest if charged flat, before any fees, so read the total in your own offer.

PalmCredit is a long-running Nigerian loan app with a large user base. It is often confused with PalmPay, a separate wallet app with its own credit product; this guide is about PalmCredit only. It sets out what has been reported about the app's pricing, what the numbers mean in naira, and what to check before you accept.

Reported PalmCredit rates, limits and tenors

ItemNairametrics, Dec 2024Nairametrics, Jun 2026
Loan amount₦10,000 to ₦300,000₦10,000 to ₦800,000
TenorNot specified; example used 6 months91 to 365 days
InterestAPR 24% to 56%; example at 4% a monthAPR 24% to 56%

Two things are worth noting. The APR band was the same in both listings, while the reported ceiling more than doubled. And an APR of 24% to 56% works out at roughly 2% to 4.7% a month, which is lower than many short-term apps report. The 4% monthly figure in the 2024 example is 48% a year, inside that band.

What the APR range means in naira

An annual rate is easier to compare when you turn it into the money you will repay. This is an example only, assuming interest is charged flat on the amount borrowed and no fees:

LoanTenorAPRInterestTotal repayable
₦100,0006 months24%₦12,000₦112,000
₦100,0006 months48% (4% a month)₦24,000₦124,000
₦100,0006 months56%₦28,000₦128,000

The middle row matches the example in the December 2024 listing: ₦100,000 over six months at 4% a month, giving ₦24,000 of interest and ₦124,000 in total.

If interest is on the reducing balance

At 4% a month on the reducing balance over six equal monthly instalments, each instalment would be about ₦19,076 and total interest about ₦14,457. The method makes a difference of about ₦9,500 on this loan. The agreement should make clear which applies; if it does not, ask. Our explainer APR vs flat fee covers why.

If you plan to repay early, ask whether interest is calculated only for the days the money was out. On a reducing-balance loan, early repayment usually saves interest; on a flat loan it may not.

Fees and charges to look for

Neither listing named a PalmCredit fee. Look in the agreement for any service or processing charge, whether it comes out of the payout, late fees and extra interest on overdue amounts. Each raises the cost above the APR.

How PalmCredit compares on paper

Set against other apps in the same June 2026 Nairametrics listing, PalmCredit's reported band is on the lower side. OKash, for example, was reported at 3% to 15% a month and EaseMoni at 5% to 10% a month, while PalmCredit's 24% to 56% a year is roughly 2% to 4.7% a month. On paper, then, PalmCredit's top rate is below the bottom rate of some rivals.

Two cautions apply before reading too much into that. First, the listing reports what the apps state, and the basis can differ: a yearly figure, a monthly figure and a daily figure are not always calculated the same way. Second, fees are not in the comparison, and a processing charge can move the real cost a long way. The only fair comparison is between two offers you have actually received, using the total repayable and the amount paid to you.

Short tenor, high cost

The reported minimum tenor of 91 days also matters. If you need money for two weeks, a three-month loan means paying interest for longer than you need, unless the agreement reduces interest when you repay early. Ask about that before you accept.

How PalmCredit limits grow

The bottom of the range, ₦10,000, is where many first loans start. The app does not publish a timetable for increases, but limits on apps like this usually rise after a run of on-time repayments. Paying early or on the due date, not borrowing again immediately, and keeping your phone number, BVN and bank details consistent all help. Our step-by-step guide How to increase your PalmCredit loan limit goes further.

What to check first

  1. The total repayable and every instalment date, before you accept.
  2. Whether the rate shown is monthly or yearly, and flat or reducing.
  3. Any fee taken from the payout.
  4. How repayment is collected and how to change the card on file.
  5. PalmCredit's current entry on the FCCPC register of digital lenders, which we did not verify for this article. Read Is PalmCredit legit? and how to check the register.

Where Pryme fits

For planned spending at pharmacies, supermarkets, schools or transport operators, Loans on Spaces is credit from Solid Allianze MFB that may be offered to Pryme customers; you see the full agreement and accept it before anything is drawn.

Questions people ask
